The tutorials available for purchase here are really good:

    http://eat3d.com/

Also 3DBuzz made a free tutorial series of UDK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_lK9j3EsZg

This material tutorial might be helpful too.

I hope any of all this helps you!

If we win the prize, I think I'll share some coke and biatch with everyone who voted Gwalior.

I don't like this deal, the coke first or nothing!

I'm gonna play it first before I vote! :>

Just started playing with this. It's quite nice so far. I may have a few questions but I'll refrain until I watch the tutorial videos.

    Glad you like the blog

That's YOU! Haha, who knows what people you can find on Mapcore!

Also, this contest looks so cool, I'll make an entry if I can beat my nemesis, Time.

All the black mesa stuff is remakes of the original, so I didnt really plan the level out in a traditional sense? What would top down views of single player levels help accomplish? I mean I guess im confused on what I should say here on my work.

Oh alright my bad, didn't see all of it was from Black Mesa. In that case maybe you should state somewhere what 3D-assets you made or if you built the level with someone else's assets.

As much as I can get from the screenshots I like the layout. However, I really think it lacks of color, maybe a few colored containers or something else that breaks up the beige colors.

    Hey Rick!

The first thing I got to thinking about when I saw your website was that the menu on top looked a bit cluttered. A solution for this could be drop-down menus which you could sort into your skill categories; i.e Level Design, Combat Scripting and Photography.

Looks better! I think it's important to show the viewer your work directly. However, it's not something bad to have a more blog like page as well I think. If you missed it out, checkout out this thread: might have seen it but I just linked it anyway. There's a lot of good info in there.

Looks cool, reminds me a lot of an old WarCraft 3 custom map named "Battle Ships", but turn-based.

I agree with the others that blue should be added, but only inside the ruins like Belgarion suggested. The warmth outside is just great, don't break it with blue!

    Edit: Oops, sorry for double-post!

Looks delicious! I know it's such a minor detail but the white cloth in the tunnel which you put red in looks a little out of place since it looks so clean. That's the only thing I caught up ^^

I will only give feedback about the Level Design since I really don't know very much about photography.

The first thing I though about was that there was no information on what YOU specifically have done on the parts of level design. Right now, I think it looks more like a portfolio for a Level Artist. Put some texts in there about the screenshots, what you did and your ideas behind them.

Also, include a top-down if you made any, either of the level or the paper-planning.

  • WIP in WIP, post your level screenshots!

    Heya Kosire!

From the screenshots the map looks pretty interesting but you really should attach a high-res top-down too, makes it a lot more interesting to look at.

    Hello guys!

My name is Stefan Jonsson and I'm a Level Design student from The Game Assembly(http://www.thegameassembly.com/). I am just about to start looking for an internship this coming autumn. Here's my portfolio, not entirely finished but a lot of it is.

    Feedback is very much appreciated!

    Best Regards, Stefan

The first thought I had was that the images are small and that the sizes of all text boxes and stuff are unnecessarily big. I'm guessing that Behance.com is some kind of a service for showing off your portfolio and resumé and that sure can be good, I just believe that you would be more attractive from a viewer's standpoint if you made a website with image slices following the standard patterns.
