Clearly "offensive content" needs to be expanded upon.

Surely desura will be excited about their hot exclusive though

It's a PR move, can you imagine the shitstorm if they allowed it to be sold? As far as I'm concerned this game comes under porn (as murder porn), inappropriate and offensive.

The game doesn't offend me, I just think it's a stupid fucking idea that will only end badly.

If anyone is actually looking forward to this game, regardless of shooting pixels and the lack of correlation between "anti-social behaviour" and violence in video games, they need to get their head checked.

I fully meant that I respect their decision. Honestly, if I were in Valve's position, I wouldn't publish the game. Valve, though, has been historically bad in terms of moderation/setting clear standards. Look at a game like Sakura Spirit. The game's store page states "This game includes nudity and explicit sexual dialog.", so how did the game get on Steam, so wouldn't that be against the "No porn" rule that is stated on the Greenlight donation page?

I'm sorry dude, but that kind of judgmental and "moral high ground" mentality is exactly the same as religious fanatics, thinking their entitled to make decisions for everyone else because their "morals" are telling them what's right and what's wrong.

Let the human collective answer the question on whether or not they want this, not the individual in power. In theory, that's what Greenlight is, right?

PS. The game is trash tho, definitely agree with you there, i'm not defending the game, i'm talking about valves decision here, it could be a porn version of pac-man instead of hatred.

While yeah, that kind of thinking is crazy, this isn't banning the game's existence. Steam is still tied to Valve's reputation, thus Valve don't publish games that they don't want to represent them. While Greenlight can set a sort of quality standard, Valve wouldn't let Greenlight speak for them. It's easy to see the internet greenlighting a game called "hitler did nothing wrong" when greenlight is only based on up/downvotes. Just look at some of the garbage reddit upvotes.

That's the Windows 8 app. Go to the burger menu (the one below the close button), then hit "Relaunch in Desktop Mode" or whatever

This decision just cements Valve's status as the PC App Store (and Valve's generally crap moderation). I respect Valve's decision to reject this game, but their policies are way too spotty right now.

Steam, while trying to open up with Greenlight, still is a curated store, and partially thrives upon that. The games they let through generally reflect Valve's views to the public. Look at any 2 second Unity game that has been let through, you see many complaining that Valve let those through.

This is all they say about forbidden content on the required donation page:

spent some time on resolutions/fullscreen stuff in my Quake port, here it is working in fullscreen, properly recording with Shadowplay. Still need to add sound and to fix some wonky stuff in the mouse support (any mouse controls such as +mlook never turn off).

Do you think Reflex has potential to be something awesome? How's the level editor to work with?

I've been wondering about getting it, but not sure yet.

I'll answer for him: It's so cool. Already it controls very well and basically feels like Quake 3. It's great. The level editor is pretty much Trenchbroom, it's very nice.

Today's update took out client side blood decals, and the game feels tons better because of it, imo. Also, recoil's messy because that's now calculated server-side to kill recoil correction cheats.

I like the new train. It still needs a few tweaks, but still top notch. But the CZ is totally dead now. Tec-9/5-7 are the pistol of choice now.

I think I'll stick with CZ on T. The spray is nice.

Looks like the Backit of the keyboard while on login screen is turned off because of I turned on FileVault while installing Yosemite... Still questing.

Do you mean login screen as in the one on bootup? That's normal for the backlight to be off, it hasn't loaded the OS/mounted the SSD at that point.

After the first time you change sound settings, they stick (ie turn it on HDMI, outputs to HDMI when present). Also, if you're charging the laptop, it will still output to hdmi and such (that or you need a mouse or keyboard, not too sure).

I'd go for a MacBook Pro if I were you.

    Done.

I've explored lot of things with my Mac today and I wanted to know why the keyboard backlight isn't active on login screen? I think I turned off the option in the settings but I can't remember where and can't find anything about on the internet.

    Nice!

My keyboard backlight is on on login. It's the middle of Wisconsin winter so I don't know if it's the lack of light or what.

This is the kind of thing that WC3 did so well and from where DotA spawns originally, mods!

There was team tower defence, there was also hero line wars which was very linear and you could "build" units with money you got from performance (like dota) which were then sent to your enemy's base wihch was quite good

    BUT

there was also pudge wars... you have not lived until you have played pudge wars

I would love it if they opened up dota2 to be modded to allow whole sub-genres of gametypes and fun!

The source 2/gamemodes update is next year. Haven't kept up with the mod scene, I hope some people have made some crazy shit.

I love the macbook air clone I got (Asus zenbook). It's way cheaper but unfortunately it has one fatal flaw. That UEFI stuff that makes installing linux a huge pain.

People tell me it's just a security thing but the end result is that I have a windows 8 laptop that's almost impossible to install linux on. If macbook airs are still able to easily install windows and linux I might almost buy one if it werent for the terrible markup.

Are macbooks really the only solution to easy tri-os installations these days?

Don't most Linux distros ship with secure builds now though? I thought we were past the whole UEFI secure deal now.

Yeah, a Mac is probably your best bet for tri-os. Isn't hackintosh rather difficult to get up and running?

I don't feel the same. It's pretty shitty just in order to plug a single HDMI cable to your TV. Need to enable bullshit toggle button there and there in the settings to turn off the sound on the Mac and keep it on with your TV. Also you can't close the shiny screen of your Mac while watching a Movie when plugged to your TV: You need to spend 200 bucks to buy an Apple TV (which cost 2 bucks in the real life or any Chinese retail online). Also you need to update your printer as you update your Operating System. By example if you can't find any drivers for your printer on Yosemite then you need to buy a new one.

After the first time you change sound settings, they stick (ie turn it on HDMI, outputs to HDMI when present). Also, if you're charging the laptop, it will still output to hdmi and such (that or you need a mouse or keyboard, not too sure).
