Well, now that I've played bowling in Portal 2, I should consider what to do with my life. That was a cool gimmick, though I'm not sure how many people will figure it out. The old aperture is my favorite theme from the game because it's so colourful and creatively put together from spare parts. My only critique is that your level is too dark and the textures in the second room are unfitting. I recommend you take a look at the official levels and take inspiration from that. Btw, I'm not sure they had the hard light bridge back then.

You pushed this platform back by 64 units and the player can't make the jump now. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I just always fall short of it.

As FMPONE mentioned, you need to address the dark areas, especially the new one where you added goo. It's so dark people might end up walking into it. Look into env_projectedtexture for the light coming in from the ceiling.

Well, you certainly got the overgrown style right. It's a cool environment to look at. I especially like the abundant vegetation growing on the walls. I have no issue with that as it doesn't get in my way. However, I can't say the same thing about the floors. There's simply too much clutter and unnecessary props that don't add anything meaningful to the overall experience. I got stuck in this prop model a few times whenever I encountered it through the level.

I understand that the ceiling has crumbled and all the tiles have scattered through the environment. It's logical, but it's not efficient. You can improve performance and navigation by removing more than half of the tiles. It also took me a while to figure out that I can use the gel on this runway. You should consider cleaning that area entirely.

Another thing I don't like are the moving panels. They play such an insignificant role in solving the puzzle that you might as well remove them; the elevator too (redesign so you don't need it).

Overall, it's a well thought out level. I like the fact that no bit of space is rendered completely irrelevant after you've gone through it; "reusability of mechanics" as you said. Though, I feel like it could use a complete redesign to make it simpler and compact. While you're at it, you should also consider improving the lighting by changing it to something like the image bellow. It will add depth to your environment and bring out the wall details.

P.S: That tree has become a cliche at this point.

  • Random Photo Thread

If you wander around searching for that next good shot, you're right, you'll rarely find it. It's what some photographers call "an accidental photograph" to mock amateurs. It basically means that the said person managed to take a decent photograph by pure chance, without any actual knowledge or skill involved. If you have a concept put together, even a simple idea such as photographing birds, you'll suddenly start to focus on that subject and ignore what isn't relevant. Good shots will start to turn up and your photographs will have a greater impact as a whole. Consistency is key.

It really depends on the purpose of the photos. If they're journalistic, as in you want to capture reality or a subject as it is, then I recommend you maintain the true colour balance. It's not an issue if you increase the contrast a bit. The key point to remember - do not to distort reality. Also, don't take random photos. It helps in the beginning, but you should start working with an idea/project in mind aka photo series. For instance, maybe you want to do a research on local birds. You gather information, put together an article and spend a year photographing the birds through the seasons. Profit? ;)

You have it wrong. Starcraft: Remastered will not be f2p. It will be sold for an undisclosed price. As for the old Starcraft + Brood War expansion, they will be made free for everyone (not free-to-play) at the end of this month.

Probably, but it might be due to the scale of the environment. It doesn't seem much slower than Reflex or Quake live. We'll just have to wait and see for ourselves.

I don't mind these presentation trailers, but I'd rather see real gameplay footage than actor scripted sequences. The only real gameplay available so far is potato quality stuff filmed at PAX

1 hour ago, FrieChamp said: Yes, to my knowledge, there is going to be such a thing as perma-death for ships. It is unlikely, but basically, if you buy a ship and don't have the petty cash of in-game currency to pay for the insurance (and ignore all warnings and still fly without one) then, yes, you will lose it forever upon destruction.

Do you need to register at the Intergalactic Department of Space Vehicles before being able to pilot the ship through space? Also, is there a tax for older ships that use outdated and potentially harmful propulsion systems?
