So is anyone gonna ask this? Is there even a point in asking this anymore? But do you think there will be some modding support? It's what kept the originals going for so long.

From their videos, it seemed like they are remaking some of the previous areas like the Cordon. My bet is that they're gonna take the old game areas and connect them seamlessly, real open world style, with the space in between leaving room for new original content. That would probably save some time on development, without having to imagine everything from scratch, and also be familiar to old time fans.
I think one thing fans want is an endless aspect to the game, where you have the factions battling each other, mutants that respawn and randomly generated quests to take you across the world. I've seen a few mods for the old games that do exactly that. But they really need to capture the feeling of the old Zone and get the systems to work together.

I will admit, though, the environments look pretty kickass! I might play it just to have a better look.

Yeah, it's one of my favorite games, especially the marine campaign. But I wonder how many people know that game even exists. It's in publishing hell currently. There's no way to purchase it except from people reselling old physical copies or pirating it. No One Lives Forever is in the same boat actually, there's a whole article on it if you want to read: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150…e-release.shtml
I don't know, it might seem not that difficult to replicate for us, but it's so easy to get obvious things so so wrong. I'd like to see something like it though.

Horror is always going to be difficult. Most people think jump scares and gore is what makes it, but real horror is hard to get right. I'm not surprised there aren't many people tackling that. Making a good game in general is hard as it is, but combining it with that horror element is a huge task. And in the end it's only gonna appeal to a niche market, so it's already a tough sell. Look at how Dead Space ended.

How about just a moderately paced, narrative singleplayer game in the Alien universe. They clearly have no idea wtf to do with this IP other than run it into the fucking ground.
I mean, that's what the sequel was about.

The dust 2 version to rule them all

Is there anyone else here playing the DLC? Main campaign was so and so for me, wasn't a fan of the combat. I know a lot of people were vocal about the level design, like the jumping sections.

My mum got her vaccine shots in Jan/Feb, dad had it today and a second one to follow up at the end of this month. Hopefully we can start to leave this bullshit behind soon.

With all the news about Aliens: Fireteam, I started to replay the last AvP from 2010 and I'm surprised by how well it still holds up visually, especially the aliens. Of course, I can't forgive the cardinal sin of having no crouch feature, but oh well... I guess that bar hologram makes up for it.

Alright, let's check this out:

Three moments I liked in particular where the one with the aliens that dropped from a vent on top of them, when the stalking alien attacked and retreated and the elevator bit. Classic moments adapted pretty well. Like, it genuinely seems like a solid foundation to expand on with post launch content.
One thing that raised some red flags is that they seemed worried about the amount of content they have in, 4 campaign in total, and they avoided answering if a campaign takes around an hour to complete. I mean, I would definitely expect something very similar to a l4d campaign.
But it seems like it might be a fun coop shooter in the aliens universe. It's definitely not a horror experience, but at this point.. just give me something, anything!
