Mmh yeah I wonder if they mean students should play the game or if the devs have adapted a particular storyline in a linear manner for print, or maybe some earlier version of the script… reading all the text available out of context is hard and can’t say that the writing was particularly exciting, they did a good job in keeping it concise for the medium (unlike *cough*cough* Sam lake *cough*cough*).

I was convinced they were inspired by a book from a survivor from Sarajevo, but I can only find that this guy write a blog about it.

Anyway is an impressive achievement that might get people interested in writing quality content for games, which is the reason I was ever interested in game development: telling stories.

    ~

Btw I actually successfully completed one of the storylines a couple weeks back, I had put this game aside for a bit, and when I launched it again I discovered I had taken a break 1 day away from the end of the war (45 days). I managed to save 2 of 4 survivors (I was too aggressive in killing militia soldiers).

I need to try again and be a better survivor… I stole a lot and killed all soldiers I could find.

Yeah goddamnit, couldn't be more typical. I got it for the PS4 before the pandemic and been playing a few nights in the last couple weeks.

Gotta say I've heard everyone talking about the amazing campaign and it's good, but not as intense as I was expecting it to be. Some boss fights that you'd expect to be tougher -simply because you've been playing a few hours- were actually ridiculously easier to beat than previous ones (eg the one voiced by Schwarzy, or by someone making an impression of him). The sections on foot are still the most fun anyway, but I feel they are too easy.

I'm still mostly impressed by the fact this is Source at its core, and bitter there's no way to create custom content, it would be fun.

Awesome start for the project, I can imagine how fun it must be to come up with locations and environmental narration, it's the closest one can get to single-player level design in CSGO.

Looking forward to see everything come together, the Far Cry 5 vibes are strong right away with the church and sawmill... unlike Shawn I'd rather see this go to the most hillibilly you can push it, although a suburban area would provide more tacticality and overall stronger gameplay -- just because would be more like the everyday CS is.

The average consumer yes, they are either invested in the ecosystem or want to get in and don’t think of these design aspects… they are probably not even aware of the size until they go at the mall to pick up one.

Personally I’m like @FMPONE, if they told me the new PlayStation was an HDMI stick I could hide behind the TV, I’d be the happiest. But there lies the problem, on one side they’ve been telling us that “mobile chips are catching up to desktop performance” (look how much power the new iPads have), but at the same time I think they need a chunky system to justify the price: can you imagine a console the size of the Apple TV and an asking price around $500?

I snobbed Mars Attacks! in my youth cos I only wanted to watch serious stuff, especially sci-di wise.

But was great to catch up with this cult classic

Not excited as the original as Miles was quite annoying both in how he was written/portrayed in the first game, plus his gameplay sections were the worst.

I know the film won’t be out until 2022 but this feels more like a made-to-order game to cross-promote Into the Spider-verse 2 or dilute the narrative to not overuse Peter Parker.

Hopefully they can cram in enough concepts (multi-verse), villains and make a title on par of the original that doesn’t sound like an inflated DLC (I wouldn’t mind a slightly less side-quest rich game –I’m still trying to beat all the challenges of the DLCs– and focus on a banging story you just want to complete).

    Sorry @[HP]merge? ?

from what I can see they are doing what the LEGO games have been doing, creating a clear indication of what can be interacted with and what’s scenery. I never played Borderlands but isn’t this similar to that too?

This is to some degree what I was talking about when I was saying I’d like to see GTA use the awesome stylised art they create for their boxes… it doesn’t look as good as I’d like but I’ll reserve judgment, they might still be toning things(?)

The only thing that I think is pretty clear is that they managed to recycle the concept developed for The Crossing… don’t think we’ve seen enough to understand the mechanics.

I was oblivious of the event, I opened YT, saw the stream and started it right when they were showing the console :D my first thought was: I’m curious to see what the modding scene will do with this console ?

I’m surprised how these new consoles aim to be centrepieces of our living rooms, they are not design for utility, disappear in our tv stands and let us just play, but to attract the eye of whoever comes in the room.

I was critical of the Xbox… but now the PS5 has been revealed, if I had to choose solely on design I’d go Microsoft.

Thank you! Yeah I’d say that is taxing and feel like I can’t do anything else, but it does also feel rewarding.

We don’t know if there is some underlying problem, the health visitor that sees us has (had) some concern in terms of development/learning… basically that she could have a mild autism. We are booked to see someone but because of Covid nothing happens.

Fingers crossed it’s nothing, I kept saying and observing that she grew awfully fast (at 8 mo she was already as big as some 1 yr old, she wasn’t that far from my best friend’s 3 yrs old!), she had quite a big head impeding/making movement harder, plus she’s been teething like crazy, she has almost every teeth out already, when friend’s say theirs (born about same time) have 4. The pretty much constant pain must be distracting and slow her.

In this period, I came to the conclusion that the expression “some teething problems” [in IT] sounds much less problematic than it is real teething. Maybe is just me being English my second language.

The bounce light and ambient occlusion in Source 2 are really nice.

I spent roughly around 5 hours recreating it in a 7 year old engine.

Only two years older than Source 2 ?

Very interesting @AlexM, and those numbers are impressive, I would think that without the right weight and pushback/resistance caused by real human flesh/bone, the best improvement you would have is just knowledge.

Also I imagine at some point this will be the way all operations will be conducted, I mean surgical robot arms controlled from the room next door (or maybe the other side of the continent!)
