' timestamp='1357155646' post='320162'](I had this EXACT same critic to both batman games, there's always that fucking annoying sealth mode that makes everything too easy and tint everything not allowing you to look at the nice art of the game)

In Batman I wouldn't use the visor more than the time needed to detect The Riddler clues and those other like scent. I'd use it to check the status of a guard around the corner to time my moves, but turning it off right after because I found the view more confusing than helpful while moving, plus the fact that it hides the nice art.

    - Why do u think that investing in a domain name is must and not using a free web hosting service?

To buy a domain name is a totally different thing than hosting, don't be tricked by the fact that usually the things go hand in hand with all-in-one plans.

You can register a domain for 5-10$/€ per year, than there are a ton of free services that will enable you to create a website and address it to your nice URL, Wix itself allows that

    - Well the first two levels(Nexuiz levels) are arena levels. For the first one i did try to use the existing assets from the game.

Well, also Quake 3 Arena had arena-shaped maps, and they didn't even had props (almost). Forget the flow, any Q3 map screenshot is still sexy because of intersting architecture/geometry. What's missing in my opinion in your maps is elevation, I feel really satisfied in a mp game when I can come down the head of someone

Have you tried Shootmania? Since you have contacts in Ubisoft I would hammer on that nail first to build a multiplayer map portfolio.

Carriers: a decent contagion flick. Unfortunately narration stays flat withouth any particular turn of events or change of peace.

The Bourne Legacy is the next best after the first.

Haven't seen yet, but my fav Bourne is the Ultimatum (than Identity and Supremacy) for now. I'm curious, because at first the trailer made me think of a milking operation, than read a couple of good reviews.

Btw the whole serie is something I regularly need to get back to, never ceases to entertain.

    Thanks guys for the appreciation!

On the matter of style I just don't want to overdo this, my objective with this was to be as minimal as possible, but display I'm a web designer, so yes, W8 has probably percolated its influence. I am actually in fear that this will be already too elaborated for the standards, but I cannot just stick a few screens on a blank page and have the same effect of the contents of you mapping guys

I don't want to add fluff to trick anybody, I want to humbly display I can do 2D and web stuff, getting hired for these skills and work from there to get back on the level design track, or at least test if I'm cut for it.

Forgot to clarify: in "contents" I comprise also text, I'm curious if it's enough, too much/little...

Like your resumé page is all white. It's not inviting to read I think.

Mmh, this is actually intersting note, I mean, my first idea was to make the resume look like a case study! but again, i got the impression i would be going overboard with presentation. Also, most of the resumes I've read clicking through your signatures are pretty basic with the occasional exception of an image put like an header, so I thought that would be the best practice, but i'd be happy to get informations that prove the contrary

about this two, especially the #06, i find the lighting excessively warm. On #09 i'm thinking that kind of room usually has cold lights (at least, reference I've seen I can compare)... I dunno if it would it possible to create some contrast between the top and bottom space.

Thank you very much Seir, that article is very informative, even if examinating the US prominently, it surely provides a good idea of how things are going. Will read it in detail.

Yes, I could imagine there's a very wide "fork" between different levels, my problem is determining a minimum: I don't have previous experience in a professional environment so i can only consider myself a "Junior". I should also relocate to countries of which I don't have a clear idea about the cost of life. (My work experience abroad was very peculiar - I was given a place to stay, the company you could say was "family run".)

Being the "main" bombsite a storage area, what about opening an "outside" route for the Ts letting them come in from (their) left side through a garage door? Then balance out by taking away one of the entrances they have now... maybe that would allow for some guessing game for the CTs if Ts decide not to rush and engage.

Also, what about increasing distances? Rotation seems too quick, the video makes me think to a deathmatch game more than CS.

I finally got my portfolio done, I'll be grateful for your feedbacks on contents and presentation.

Little intro: I'm working as a 2D artist on mobile games with friends, we tried to build a startup.

I have an education in web development, but I would like to go back to when I started with map design. My hope is to get hired by a game dev studio in QA or 2D artist position, in order to gain understanding of the game dev process in a professional environment (and gtfo of Italy) while in the spare time start building a portfolio to then apply for a level design position(1).

It is my intention to scrap the Smashing Planets trailer for a walkthrough I will make myself because the comics weren't made by me and I don't find appropriate the intro part, I also need to put some more intersting screenshots.

I still have to make the .pdf version of the cv so that is not linked, everything else should work correctly.

Disclaimer: to practice on the latest web standards, the site is written using the basics of HTML5; I've tested it on IE7-8 and there are a couple of glitches I'm trying to address, so browse it with Chrome/Safari/FF for best experience. If anybody can check it in IE9, I'd be happy to know about manifest problems.

(1)Why the hell aren't you doing that already if you care so much?

I don't have a gaming rig and cannot burn through my thin savings to get one now. I switched to a MacBook in 2008 and that still works fine for web design, but on an Intel card I cannot run anything useful gaming-wise. (I play on a X360.)

The only Windows machine I have access to is a very old laptop that can (luckily) run HL2 (low settings); while waiting for responses on the applications I'll try to build something on there.

The latest Humble Bundle, that is also my first.

    I've split 5$ between 1.5$ for Snapshot, 1$ Indie Game The Movie, 1$ EFF, 0.75$ Humble Bundle, 0.5$ Shank e 0.25$ Closure.

Truth is I do care just for Snapshot (so i feel a bit dirty) and the OSTs, but i've noticed you can pay again so in case I like it a lot I'll maybe do that.

So holiestcows, main choke point seems to be the B bombsite, estimating the travel time. I won't complain about crates, since they are just a filler easy to move around, but if I imagine the room without those, still looks a bit too busy. Btw Ts have the height advantage when they come in, so it seems the room can balance itself to a certain degree.

While you are in this alpha state try to test a couple of variants changing entrances, heights, moving covers

    Quote from Pampers

that bombsite is way to cluttered

Bombsites also look a bit too cramped, A in particular (which, on the other hand, feels the more "CS" to me).

it was very appropriate for the mood.

When I watched it the first time it was because it seemed very dumb and brainless, but they manage to build a decent tension and curiosity.
