Saw a trailer some time ago and über-looking forward to this. Makes me think of Alice and Wonderland.

So the rumours were true, Nordic theme and different gameplay. GoW meets Tomb Raider lol?

Wow, I expected more enthusiasm on this…!

I hate cg trailers but this one resonated with me having old known characters in it. Maybe we'll even see Commander Keen lol

In particular I was surprised-hyped to see the classic Q1 thunder-gun make a return.

Hope it won't share ideas from Overwatch, I perceived it like an "all stars" Q3 game: Classic arena dm with nostalgia characters. If it's more complicated than that is probably a waste.

    Anyway, 120hz gaming??!

Is not like the bounty hunter version had anything to do with the original, other than a pretestuos background to justify a character's fate.

This new one looks like is gonna be Portal-inspired and finally have a meaningful link between title and what happens in the game.

Hated the original, really struggle to see the value of the IP and why such effort in keeping the name alive.

I think you nailed the lighting already, feels Californian. Plus with such a setting I keep thinking of Fear The Walking Dead first couple episodes.

I'll definitely go through this one. Is not like I used every tool, but between experience and videos presenting editors… I keep thinking nobody has made the ideal editor.

I really want this, but the known PC issues have kept me away (plus the Windows Store limitations). I know it's been patched couple times but doesn't seem like it is ok yet and I wonder if it will ever be. Gears Of War seems to suffer the same fate.

They posted an update last night on Facebook, announcing that Remedy has two dev teams and they're working on two games, both new IPs by the sound of it. Explicitly it's said they're not working on an Alan Wake sequel.

Are they also gonna veto the last played map on a new map? Cos I remember with voting plugins in CSS that a new map would start and a vote would be immediately called to go back to Dust/Dust2

If you have a "blank canvas" problem, I suggest you start by copying something simple. Like port a Q3 platform map to UT2016.

    2) I don't work in the industry so I'm not sure, but I would start with what you really like and what you aspire to work on.

I think for genres like adventure/exploration (point & click or similar) I think you just need to show you can build an environment.

For racing games there are games like Trials and Trackmania that include a very simple "LEGO" editor that can get you acquainted with that sort of game. Starcraft 2 includes an editor (I think).

There are lots of options, yes UE4 singleplayer there's no game you can "mod" that I know, and it's what has been holding me back, but you can still create an environment by doing assumptions on what the kind of gameplay will be like. UE4 comes with some basic templates as well that would allow you to do an FPS or TPS for eg.

Bottom line is: start working. When I started I didn't have an Internet connection and learned to use Hammer (Worldcraft) reading the bundled guide and I couldn't texture because the Italian version was bugged…

So I bought the latest Humble "Staff Picks" Bundle for Absolute Drift and partially for Snake Bird.

Since Snake Bird also comes as DRM free download, I give you these serials for Steam, first come first served:

The sequel to the tech-oriented sandbox has been announced and Ubisoft published a couple teaser on the main character and the world, both embedded in this long featurette:

Game is set in San Francisco this time, and players are part of Dedsec, a guerrilla hacker group (I don't follow those kind of movements so dunno how much they picked from real world, but sure reminded me of Mr Robot).

I would say it's quite impressive the parkour movement system that they implemented.

I never heard of something like that, other than enrolling to a university game design course.

If tutorials are not what you looking for, as they are normally technical and focused on one tiny aspect of making a level, you might want to watch "speed level design" videos with commentary or livestreams to understand the theory behind. Also you need to read articles like the one just linked in the sidebar ---> on how to create a combat space, recently another Mapcore member published a lenghty article on guiding the player: http://www.clement-melendez.com/portfolio/arti…l/introduction/

otherwise I can only think of befriending a good designer and asking questions, but...

The concept for Duswalker sounds really cool-fun!

Left leaning seems visually appealing from the screenshot, description reminds me of a certain mobile game I can't remember the name.

    I should try them!

What @Sprony says is very sound and probably more likely to be the case than my speculation.

Anyway I have a question @Hourences: was your EA release a proper release, or was it a beta? I mean if that was your way to try an episodic release, you might have shot yourself in the foot because my feeling is (and you said as well) that people buy EA if they're into that thing. So a person like me would have completely ignored your release because I would think it's a game that not only I have to wait for more content, but would also be buggy.

And yeah you have a bundle of older games you developed, have you thought about creating a bundle to give a perception of a better deal? Something could be "for a limited time get The Ball for free".

Also about indie community, there have been examples of cross-promotion with NS2 and the guys of Overgrowth, and I think others. Maybe you can organise some sort of "adventure bundle" with some other devs.

Release windows are so difficult to get right, and maybe there's no "right" like you say, but yeah, I hope that with the next pushes it will bring players :)
