They shoved the trailer in my face because of a YT ad and knowing it from this topic I watched it and I'm very pleasantly intrigued. I think the racial theme is very interesting, the whole thing is very trippy. Seems a great horror-thriller flick... not sure if qualifies as "best movie since", but definitely gave me that "claustrophobia/paranoia" feeling of movies like Fight Club or Exam. Will watch.

Monday was finally the day we released Furious Angels.
This is a one-stick scifi shooter featuring a score-attack system with global leaderboards. We tuned it to be simple and engaging, striving to give players that quick fix that make them say "just another round".
The game has been developed by Filippo "Morfeo", my dear friend creator of the The Specialists mod for HL1 and then programmer for a few years in Crytek. You can follow him on Twitter for updates.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy.I've collaborated as a tester since the very first builds, so I had the chance to really give an input and contribute in shaping some of the game's staples... which makes me very proud. It might not be my baby, but let's say I'm proud as an uncle
I also functioned as additional 2D artist (logo and achievement icons). -
I just can't believe that Scott is doing this stuff. And why him, does he own rights to Alien of sorts?
I just feel good in knowing the true Alien sequel is by Blomkamp and Blade Runner with Villneuve at this point.

Would be easy to find as Shwimmer hasn't been in so many movies (afaik) but would be a bit cheat… surely haven't seen it

Holy smokes!!! Who's that girl?! I want to marry her now.

Guys a good chunk of people here are actual developers that work for the likes of Bungie, Blizzard, IO, id etc. Most of the others have full time jobs of other kind. Either way mapping or modelling are intensive activities that can't always take all the free time.

Sad news
I always liked his presence in any movie he appeared -
NIce to know about the Redux, thanks @leplubodeslapin! My confusion came from the fact that the redux is indicated at much smaller size… i was just wondering if was an add-on like the HD pack for the original HL; if that's stand alone I just wonder how that can be true, but maybe there much better compression available through UE4

Well done @Sprony! I liked it a lot, first game I actually spent time in the photo editor as well. Such a stunning sandbox to explore, I loved it. Game was very repetitive and lots of grinding, but must tip the hat to the designers: every outpost was different! Every place had a story of its own. Inspiring. I regret not tackling more storyline missions because I have been grinding away and could've had better engine much earlier.

I'm playing Lego Batman 2 with my girlfriend – which is interesting as it's making me think of working on concepts for co-op experiences.
I finished Inside last night, in my second session. It's an awesome game that everybody should play.
Also I get my quick fixes playing Furious Angels, the game I helped on a bit and of imminent release.
-
I have it in my library, I was almost going to install it not long ago. Was a bit confused by the fact that they released the remastered HD version and seems to take less disk than the standard, so is unclear if you can install just that, need the original anyway…
Just played Inside that was higher on the list, so I need to choose between this and Firewatch.

Didn't know they made a movie of it, I need to read the book first.

@Radu is that brokeback mountain?

Is this a spoof? Cos the poster looks like has been put together from shots of Intouchables ?
Also Fight Club and Matrix are very different movies… seems weird to associate a horror movie. Best overall movie last few years is Sicario for me.
Speaking of great unknown movies, you seen Exam?

Finally started playing it last night. It's great!
I love the absence of hints, the physicality of the interactions with objects necessary to create your path forward (just a bit inconsistent) and the minimalist menu (they're taking everyone to school with the checkpoint load system).
Progression is a 101 developer lesson on how to teach the player, very smart.
I already got through half of it, it feels a bit too easy maybe, I died nowhere near the amount of times I died in Limbo, but maybe it's also because some things are a call back to those mechanics.
The art is top notch, totally in love with it.

@nikkoship I badly want to play Titanfall 2 as well. Was just waiting some bigger discount as I'm unlikely to be able to play mp.
anyway consoles support mouse+keyboard. Recently some like Blizzard want to ban(?) their use as five too much advantage. (Which is quite some big bs to come out a company like that)
A thought on COD based on your observation: it would be hard to sustain, but with the series success would make sense to make COD a "service"… so instead of fragmenting the offer, they should keep things together and more accessible to everyone.
Something like having a common "base" of the game, and then you could buy just campaigns, or mp versions. Not sure if makes sense what I'm saying

Grats @grapen!
im in a similar position, just I'm older and nowhere near releasing a map. I just can't make the time to regularly work on them… I've tried several times by participating in contests, but my job has so irregular hours that is impossible to have a routine and as easy as it sounds "instead of watching a tv show map", I'm really tired most evenings ao much so I often collapse into sleep on the sofa after putting down my plate.
im still not giving up tho, just maybe I'm more oriented to the indie development idea.
Well hold on and keep working, curious to see the map and more work in the future

Last night I finished my work on the achievement icons for Furious Angels (trailer), a game by my mate creator the The Specialists Mod for HL. I also made the logo for that. Release is soon

Regarding my daytime job....

Yeah, is very stressful when people are not transparent. I don't understand what harm can make. It was infuriating to hear he say my line manager "said too much" when she informed me they were "thinking of offering an 'assistant manager' position" in December... that means that wasn't an offer and we've spent two months raveling on it for nothing!? I don't even know how much I have to wait for progress on this bs position now, the boss was saying the offer is being delayed by the fact that the girl in HR in Head Office has been sick three weeks (dafuq come on); yesterday while doing my Personal Development Review (the second in 3.5 years working here!) my line manager didn't sound confident that this offer will be here soon! So I'm like supposed to do all this extra stuff good for experience without the pay and job title to put on the CV?
Dear Brits Mapcoreans, is this the kind of thing I have to expect everywhere here? (this is my first and only job in the UK.) Because if that's the case I might consider to change everything again. I've always been told that UK was very meritocratic but doesn't feel this way.
I don't care to make a career in this place, but would be really handy to save the extra money, as by living in the workplace I can at least save a lot (more than half of the monthly salary if I don't go crazy with outings).

For my trekking holiday idea started discussing a bit with my girlfriend which has also turned around on my Canada idea, saying she didn't think was the only option and the country is not on her priority list as is "somewhere you can go when you're older too". I wouldn't mind doing another original holiday like going in Nepal or some other extravagant country, but if she starts downsizing more and more with the excuse that she wants to save for buying the house then I'm ready to say I'll go on my own wherever I want... she already said I'll have to go to New Zealand on my own if I want to since she's already been in her gap year after uni.

Sounds quite weird to say "I don't know how it will turn out" at the start of an analysis video... makes you think the person making the video is just improvising, hence the content won't be good. I would suggest avoiding such comments in future videos.
Doubts like the one above then just seem to be confirmed when you switch CT with T... such a mistake hinders the complete reliability of the video in my point of view. Or if there was a reason to do such thing you forgot to explain. On the subject of labeling, you could do better as label like CT spawn was incredibly long and covering space... people watching such videos would surely understand "CT spawn" and "T spawn"

Anyway, you just reminded me of something I thought in the past when trying to come up with layouts... I would like a tool that allow you to place the main points of a map, then dragging them would automatically shift the connecting paths. I mean that kind of thing that mind maps or UE4 scripting tool do visually.

Well the game has a lot to offer anyway I think... at least I'm still launching it every so often to play the arcade mode or progressing the campaign at the nightmare difficulty. It helps me when I'm really annoyed for work reasons.
I tried SnapMap as well but couldn't get into it despite I really wanted. I couldn't find a way to close a loop of rooms :-/ very lame to say but if you try to put some height variety using different map tiles it just doesn't work. Would be really great tool if was allowing you to build custom rooms a-la Portal Initiative, then fit props in it. Or even choose a "theme" for a room, which automatically tiles props along the walls to make it look as an underground tunnel rather than a lab connection corridor, for eg.
