should I read the books before watching this?

And watch the original film? - I know it’s not a sequel, but wonder if would give any benefit, or would make the grandiosity of the new one less powerful.

Did you know the backstory of the Aliens APC? YT fed me this video, I had no idea of the filming locations and actual implementations.

There’s to be said that those were subsidised, the overall ecosystem was less ready… Valve has now proven itself as an hardware maker, and these sold out right away. Several people here ordered one, I would have as well if it wasn’t so far away in launch.

I don’t imagine they need a smashing success, probably it’s more a way to fund R&D for a wireless VR headset

I never wanted to watch it because was already looking like shit in the 90s. I think was just how it was filmed.

Math is math, but I would have never expected to see a setup like this.

But I might be even more impressed of the target system, can’t believe microphones can do this sort of measurements.

From this couple of screens it’s hard to tell how you manage the transition between themes, which is visually the hardest thing to do. At the moment I would agree with Koko.

The top down layout seems interesting despite the many 90° angles, makes me curious!

It definitely varies. You see it happening all the time, but you better reach with as much advance as you can. For example I tried to pop in WB Montreal when I found out my Airbnb was literally two streets away from the office, and they said they do tours but they couldn’t in that occasion because of the status of projects being worked on.

I think depending if you’re interested for fanboying try to talk to community managers, otherwise HR seems a good attempt.

Best way is if you know anyone inside, @Nysuatro took me around EA Vancouver (where possible).

Reminds me of one lan playing Day of Defeat where I was pushing the last long street of dod_carentan… I started an engagement with a friend near one of those MG sandbags spots and we both run out of bullets, so we ended up literally running in circles around it, he was frantically trying to reload his Kar, I remembered about the melee attack and wacked him with the butt of my Garand.

    Good old times?

This came up on my lockscreen and I would be strongly convinced that it could have very well been on the reference moodboard for the Lighthouse level of HL2. In particular because of that pillar/structure closer to the camera... it really makes me think of the way Gordon escapes from the location (and from where he sees the buggy taken away by the Combine).

    Is it just me?

I watched Sicario at the cinema (remember those times) and I kinda wanted to go back in once it was finished lol.

Slight tangent promotion, @Bunglo @El Moroes if you love Sicario you will probably also love ZeroZeroZero… it was directed by Sollima, the same director behind the camera of Day of the Soldado. I recommended in the “watched recently” some months ago. the Mexican cartel scenes will give you chills.

I’m very fascinated/interested in this aspect of game development, as I see it the most important conjunction of game and UI design.

It’s must be incredibly tricky to strike balance, considering every player is different. I am for example one that -I believe- is very resilient to frustration, I actually make games frustrating for myself (like I spent at least 8hrs on the shipwreck encounter alone in Uncharted 4 because I was convinced I could resolve it the way I wanted, but needed to be perfect at aiming and timing).

In regard of information overload I’ve felt like this recently when I started playing God of War, when you upgrade a weapon there’s so much information… and god help you when you get to the merchant is a non-stop barrage of pop ups!

I wonder what type of R&D there is for a dynamic system (self or user adjusted) dedicated to this aspect; but I can imagine the realities of business and budgets… and how ad-hoc game solutions are. I can only think the pitch for this is that once you get a system like that up and running, you can keep reusing it, so it would be a bit like upgrading your game engine, if you can come up with a generic solution.
