After watching your video I was thinking about how you would need to roll dice to see how many moves you get, like a board game. Then that reminded me of this:

Does anyone else feel sort of resentful towards the Perpetual Testing initiative? I feel sort of like it's undermining the efforts of "real" mappers and modders.

No, I would think that this would be a great tool for those who want to be creative and design games but have been unable learn software or not have access to it. I work as a video editor and people are always comparing software saying that you should use this if you want to make professional videos, when it really has to do with who is using it. Also this "portal map editor" can only get you so far.

Can anybody confirm, I swear I read somewhere they will be using this for Left 4 Dead 2. Am I crazy?

I wonder if there is a limit on the size of your map? Also does this produce CO-OP levels?

what ? i was sure that they sold MW3 realy good ?

HP if you want to be let down by FPS'a a lil more try Syndicate

AFAIK it had an OK launch, but its overall sales have been slower. Not saying it's been a bad run by any means, just that what went up and has started to come down again starting with MW3.

    not according to this:

Black Ops was fun, better than MW3. They should incorporate the zombies into the SP not just MP

I was able to play with this quite extensively... its extremely impressive, how intuitive they implemented it and easy it is to use. we're using their implementation of steam workshop for how we're going to implement it in nexuiz... not the level editor tho of course

Will nexuiz(pc version) have a level editor?

Hey, the project layout looks good. Some things to consider:

-the lighting in the bottom two projects screenshots is very dark, consider brightening the images or tweaking the lighting

-the bottom two projects screenshots don't give me enough information on how that level might play out, they don't give a great sense of the space the player moves through; what do you do in those maps? why?

-if you can, show some game play screenshots or even short videos

-it would help to show some pre-production; flow maps, level design documents. If you have not done these it's not a bad thing, but it is a good idea to show design documents and mapping skills (make maps to scale)

-if you have done any scripting for these projects you may want to show some of that as well

Your off to a good start, we just need to see the content in a way that we can understand better how it plays. The top project does the best job of this through the screenshots. Keep at it!

    Display More

Thanks for the feedback, I can brighten those pictures up pretty easy, good call.

I have links to videos underneath each project, did you noticed those? Maybe I should embed the videos Instead of providing a link?

I don't have any design documents but I do have some sketches I made on a notepad. Not sure if that would be helpful.

Would it be better to have a walk thru video or a promo video? The videos I have are more of the promotional nature.

    Thanks

    Hi,

New guy here, I would appreciate your help and suggestions with my portfolio website. I am currently employed as a video editor but would like to move into game development (level design). I have completed several maps using the Source SDK. I would love to work with a mod team or work in the game industry some day. Any tips would be awesome.

    -thanks
