Origin is ok. It's no Steam but it's ok.

It has good download speeds but the prices of games on there are ridiculous.

Crysis 3 is £40 for the hunter edition or £55 for the Digital Deluxe (which is basically some unlocks and skins)

Sim City V is £45 for the Limited Edition or a whopping £65 for the DD (which includes a few buildings styles)

And The Sims 3 is still £30 years after its been released.

I've never paid any of those prices for a brand new PC game let alone one that is years old. I always thought that digital copies of games were to be cheaper since there's nothing physical to create bar the server costs.

    2) you model everything as one piece, you texture it all as one piece - and when you LOD the model you just remove the edges and everything lines up and looks good. minimum amount of work, maximum texture usage.Option 2 every time unless you are so tight for polies that those extra 20 take you below 30fps. But then I'd say you have bigger problems than a door.

This is how I usually do it. If it's easier in the long run to do it this way I'll build it like that

    Thanks for the feedback!

Anyone who loved Ocarina but didn't play Wind Waker sincerely should give it a go if they ever get the chance.

Whereas Twilight and Skyward are kind of their own thing, Wind Waker is built on the lore/story of Ocarina and some of the stuff that happens will likely bring a serious smile to your face.

    This!

Was the Zelda on the DS with the train any good? Was that set in the same universe as WW or did it just steal it's art style?

    Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of advice/feedback on a model I'm working on currently as I'm looking to brush up on my 3D skills at the moment.

So I've decided to build a random building, Carnegie Hall in New York, in modular pieces so I can recreate it and also create other buildings from the same pieces.

I've took an image of the building and cut it up into colour coded "pieces" to show the different sections I will make, I found this pretty helpful. I'll post the image if you guys would like to see it.

Anyway, I've started off by creating a door with an arch around it seen below:

    (for comparison*)

It's currently split into three pieces:

Now I have a few questions!

Which method would be the best to attach these pieces together into a single model? Currently there aren't any gaps viewable from the front of the model so would it be sufficient to just attach them together without welding any verticies? Or is it best to weld them all? (I'd have to cut the mesh up in a few places to add a few more verts to weld to.)

Another question, is it better to model details seen below using extrusions or is it cheaper to just use primitives for stuff like this and have them intersecting the door?

Also, do you guys have any critiques on the model? Anything I should add or remove? Is it too detailed anywhere? The current poly count for the model is 743.

    Thanks for any replies guys!

God damn you proper had me head bopping and being all nostalgic listening to that. Good job nobody is at work!

But yes, play OOT, such a great game and the world is wonderful! MM is very dark compared to the other Zelda's and the use of time in the game is awesome. WW is probably one of my favourites out of all of the Zeldas, as Thrik said it still looks great today and the sailing part of the game is actually really enjoyable! I love just exploring each grid on the map to see what was around.

I played TP to the end, I got to the last boss then just stopped playing it for some reason, I never enjoyed it as much as the other Zelda's. I've not tried SS as it didn't look very good to me, am I wrong?

Still trying to beat FTL: Faster Than Light! Still yet to beat the last boss on easy mode. I can destroy his first stage normally and I came close to kill him a second time before but I was dumb with my crew teleportation and I managed to kill my fighter guy who I sent over to destroy his main guns. X(

Awesome game though, very fun and addictive and the games are short enough that you can complete a run in one sitting if you wished. Thing is you'll probably lose at the end
