14 hours ago, Radu said: It seems all major triple A companies are obsessed with what they like to call "never ending experiences" or games that compel the player to spend at least 80 to 100 hours in their environment. This is also why most triple A games feature coop or pvp, because they generate more short term engagement and are easier to monetise. To me it seems like a hit or miss mentality. There are just too many games with the same purpose of retaining the players for the longest duration. And it wouldn't be that much of an issue if what they were aiming for was true, a "never ending experience", but few companies actually support the game with content for more than one or two years before releasing a new entry in the series.

    What's your take on this @[HP] ?

I'm not a big fan of this personally. Most recently for me is probably with Battlefield 5 where they have those weekly challenges you need to complete in order to unlock a new skin, or more annoyingly, a new weapon or vehicle. I don't want to have to play week after week to ensure I can unlock everything - Or at least not game changing things like weapons or vehicles - Those should always be unlockable through gameplay (Maybe I'm wrong and they are?).

If it's a grind for cosmetics then that's fine. Put all the time limited stuff you want in. But please don't try to force me to play every day.

I guess a similar game to Destiny and Anthem would be Borderlands. Borderlands nailed the want to chase loot and wasn't a "live service" that forced you to play all the time and sold like hot cakes.

I actually think the inventory is great in this game. I can easily pickup and replace attachments rather than jumping into the inventory and manually dragging them onto my guns. I can also easily tell what ammo types I need and just keep an eye out for those. If I try to pick up an inferior attachment the game doesn't let me unless I hold the button. It's pretty intuitive I feel. Most of the time I'm playing is in combat or scanning for enemies. I don't look at the floor nearly as much as I do in other games like PUBG.

Honestly not had too many problems with Origin. The odd download has taken a long time to install but the download speeds are always fast.

Been playing Apex a bit and it's quite enjoyable. Movement, gunplay and teamwork features are all great - Just need some better team mates :D

I don't think the game will destroy Fortnite or anything but it'll probably get a decent following once the hype has died down and the player numbers settle. I doubt I'll play it as long as I played PUBG for as I'm pretty burnt out on the whole battle royale game mode fad. But I hope it does well - Kinda makes me wanna pick up Titanfall 2.

Epic must have given them a bag full of Fortnite dollars to make it an exclusive.

Lot of angry people in that Steam thread and I can see their point. It is annoying being forced to have multiple stores and clients installed on your PC. I think I have them all except for UPlay.

But competition is good so maybe this might make Valve reconsider their practices - Then again exclusivity does suck.

Oh nice didn't know there was DLC. Sounds interesting!

Convinced the girlfriend to watch me play the game and I think she's enjoying watching me play. Lickers freak her out and she's not a fan of Mr.X :D Started playing the campaign with Claire on normal difficulty and am about 4 hours in. Loving solving the puzzles and I really love how they got the , quite frankly weird building, to work in a realistic looking game.

They've really nailed it. It feels like Resident Evil 2 but dayum bro you seen these graphics? Runs nice and smooth at 1440p, high settings, on my 980ti too.

We're both busy all week so will have to pick it up again the weekend. Can't wait!

Was a shame to hear DB was going this way but hopefully they do allow players to host their own server at least. If not it'll just be lost to history which is sad for any game.

Enjoyed DB a lot during my shortish (40+ hours) play time. Just stopped playing since all my friends were playing other games.
