Adding names is good for networking but it's not like everyone can immediately find you or anything. There so many people with the same name that it still requires some effort. Unless your name is Beck of course.

it is 100% call of duty, i mean i understand all the points you guys raised like "nice to have another cod" or "it's as good as cod" but what the hell man, we have medal of honor, battlefield, call of duty, crysis, black ops, homefront, etc etc etc. we have enough manshoots built around the same exact formula and the FPS market is turning into the MMO market where everybody is trying to compete with WoW and nobody is doing anything particularly new.
personally i blame the consumers because when shit like Hawken comes out they get like 4 sales and half of those are the developers moms but jesus christ it's getting pretty tedious.
where's my new team fortress or counter strike, somebody do something interesting, pls.
QFT! Shooters used to be the only genre I played and nowadays I can't stand most of them. How dull and retarded a lot of them have become. It's pretty shocking that I rather replay the classics (Quake, Half Life, Kingpin, etc) than most of the new ones.

This thread is now about my favourite Jack Nicholson scene ever:

I think that a lot of valid points are made from different sides. But by now I feel there's a bit too much negativity surrounding the thread (which I'm partly responsible for as well with my EA bash) so let's stop that shall we? Jack agrees!

Yeah there doesn't seem to be many games for it worth playing atm. Save yourself the money!
Yeah, that's true. The only game I want to play is the new Killzone but that isn't a system seller or a definitive must have. Because they are so scarce it has more become a "must buy" feeling instead of "need to have". Kinda like women and shoe sales.
The first game I'm actually looking forward to playing on the PS4 is Thief and that's still months away.

I cancelled my PS4 order. There's still no word on when it's available here. Somehow I feel the lack of consoles is artificial. I can't remember a console launch which had so few units available. I've literally gone everywhere in Holland. The only option is the black market for 800 euro's or import. So no PS4 for me. I spent the money on a new PC which is the MASTER RACE anyway.

I very much doubt they would delay (or sit) on a patch just to save face. Give the developers some credit ffs, they'd want to get it out the door asap.
I think it took them 6 months because they didn't have (want/no budget) resources on the project, it might not have taken 6 months when they were still a full team but you gotta stay realistic. Nobody's gonna ramp up a project for some bugfixes or changes so it's totally warranted imo. Sure you can call that PR talk but that's just how projects work.
Seriously you guys sometimes...
Sure they screwed up, but when they finally address something you still find ways to complain.Be happy that some devs spend time on this. Then again, it's still a shitty game

Just for the record, I mean no offense regarding the devs. My responses are purely aimed at EA.

It took them six months to make it work, so some heaven and earth had to be moved. You think they just twindled their thumbs in the meantime?
No, that's not what I'm implying. EA says it took 6 months, not a very credible source. Without actually working there no one, neither you or me, can tell how much effort went into this. The only thing I'm saying is that, when you look at the bigger picture, it smells like bullshit. But that's just my opinion and it can be wildly different from yours

You know, some of you might have come across some posts I made where I'm talking about EA/Origin in negative way (BF4 thread). But to be honest, for me it's not the rushed games, alpha releases, dubious microtransactions, killing great franchises, destroying studios, forcing Origin or the lack of support. No, none of that. I tried it, believe me I did, but the fact is that I like to get kissed before I get fucked.

In the wake of recent patch news I'm curious as to when the game will go gold.

Well if the system was built for cloud storage, I'm sure they couldn't rely on using the same approach as a bedroom hacker and have it stable and optimized, but actually had to rewrite a lot of stuff to make it work. A quick hack isn't the same thing as an official update that has to go through QA and all that other stuff. I think the idea of having peoples city interact with each other and have everything in the cloud sounds like a neat idea on paper, but translated very badly into the finished product.
They keep making it sound as if haven and earth had to be moved in order to make it work offline. These are all lies and that bedroom hacker proved that. You are right that doing it officially requires a different approach and a lot more work. So I didn't mean to underestimate that. But this is still inflated PR bullshit to justify having that clusterfuck of a launch (if you can call it that) and we all know that.

That's beyond fucked up dude. I was cringing while I read. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Welcome back!

They always said that it COULD NOT RUN on a PC locally. The glassbox engine needed too many calculations to run all the agents. Now they say that making SimCity work offline took 6 months (according to the Lead Engineer) and significant portions of code needed to be rewritten (source). While a bedroom hacker managed to achieve the same thing in just a few days nearly a year ago.LMFAO.

Nice one dude! Glad to hear things are looking up.
One thing I've noticed about Mapcore recently is that a lot of people just 'like' posts and don't actually post. It's the damn Facebook effect!
You know what's worse? That a lot of people IRL come up to you saying how they love your status updates but on Facebook none of them clicks like

So I've been working for a couple of days and something is slowly changing inside me and people are starting to notice it. It sounds dreamy but you guys were right, it's about acceptance. I'm now finally starting to accept I cannot change the things I want to change there. All the effort in the world went to waste on this. No, not anymore. I thought I would get annoyed by facing the facts that I won't get rid of that cheating bastard but it actually feels liberating.
Because I'm slowly accepting these things I'm also quitting with the hatorade. Not hating feels like the weight of the world drops from my shoulders. I've got a long way to go, but thanks to your help, I'm making progress.
Last but not least. I'm doing what they pay me for but nothing more. I only put in extra effort if it benefits me. Now I'm chilling more (thanks FMPONE) and I even started work later to go and see The Hobbit
