I've been here for a couple of years now and I've always wondered why there hasn't been a Mapcore Mod Team. There's so much talent around here. Imagine what great things you could do together. I know there have been collaborations between members (FMPONE has worked with a number of you) but never a mod. Or perhaps this happened before my time. Normally I would let something like this rest but after all the interviews I've done I just see so much potential.

Now I'm not being naive. I know for a fact that most mods are way too ambitious, don't make it past the pipe dream stage or ultimately die due to people losing motivation and moving on. It's hard work (I've been in 2 mods which never saw the light of day). But still, there are possibilities especially with this crowd. This post is meant to test to the waters and see if there's any interest. There's no ambitious plan, no preferred engine or killer design doc for the next big thing on the indie scene. No, none of that. The question is simple, who out here, has the time and the motivation to team up with others and take it from there? Perhaps nothing comes of it but getting together and having a talk doesn't hurt anybody.

Perhaps by now you are thinking:"Who does this guy think he is? He's not designer, he doesn't have credentials to be a team lead!". True, I'm not designer, I don't have credentials and I have absolutely no ambition of being a team lead. All I want is to bring interested people together and if something comes of it, help out with whatever I can (PR, Testing, Hosting, etc). Nothing less and nothing more. So, I always encourage discussion so feel free to post your thoughts and let us know what you are thinking.

I'm going to hit post now and I'm really curious to see what becomes of this topic. Will it be ignored and fade away? Perhaps a couple of replies and then fade away or will we get together and chat?

Spend a bit more time on it (still way to little to properly judge). I must say, even if the gameplay sucks it was already worth the 30 euros to walk around in this and just look and enjoy the scenery and sound. It can only get better from here. Money well spent

About 6 months ago I got a new job (which was well documented on the Core). Unfortunately I had to keep doing my old one and learn people how I did it before I could start my new one. Spend a week in training and today was my second day of on the job training. My teacher however was confident that I could do it and left me alone. So there I am, with no idea what I'm doing, responsible for a enormous amount of stuff and accountable for every penny we waste. How much are we talking about here? Well proper fuck ups could costs us ten thousands of euros within hours. Not long after he left, bad shit went down. I got corporate on my back and questions coming in from everywhere. I really felt like this:

[Blocked Image: http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--qOw8koA5--/japbcvpavbzau9dbuaxf.jpg] But I knew I had to man the fuck up so I took charge of the situation. I decided not to follow procedures and do what would be best for us and soon got a call from the higher ups. Explained to them why I did what I did and I received a lot of praised. Handled it like a pro, finished out the afternoon and now I'm sitting here on my thrown of awesomeness due to the huge amount of compliments I got. My collegue said I did it better then some of the people that had been doing it a lot longer. He said the message was clear, I'm here to stay. Holy shit, this game is visually impressive and spot on. Sound design is through the roof. I really feel like I'm walking around in the movie. Haven't played a lot yet but it's already pretty obvious that this was put together with a lot of love for the franchise.

With that said, you can't judge a game like this without even having reached max level though.

I'm sorry tr0nic but that's just bullshit. I know what you are trying to say and you got a point that one would be able to get more out of it. But if the road to max level is a tedious one, that's no fun and hard to get through surely one can judge it by then. What you're saying is that it's ok that the first 20 hours are boring because it gets fun later (which it doesn't, max level doesn't change any of the flaws nor does adding more of the same missions). A game should be fun all the way through.

I know that people from here worked hard on this but I have to be honest and keep it real. I was all over this, I promoted it heavily by posting updates of new videos in this thread and I of course got it on day one. My initial reaction was very positive and I praised the gun play and excellent visuals. Convinced several friends to get it (one of them even bought a PS4 for this) and I defended the game when people criticized it. Sure, I had some minor criticism myself but nothing that kept me from wanting to play more and more.

However, after having played 20 hours or so, the original appeal has completely faded for me. More and more things started to bother me and the more you play the more some glaring issues become really apparent. This game is wrapped up nicely but it's hollow inside. Practically every mission follows the exact same pattern. You revisit locations again and again. Fight of some enemies, fight of waves while doors get opened or computers get hacked and then spend 20 minutes pumping a gazillion bullets into a boss. Story missions, strikes, raids, it's all basically the same. Speaking of a story, where is it? Playing with friends helps a bit but it doesn't change the constant grinding. Loot isn't really special, the same for leveling and multi player is fun for a couple of rounds but that's it. Also for a shared world shooter there's really not much interaction with other players other then waving to one another.

None of it makes sense either. It feels like they set out trying to create a cinematic experience but somewhere a long the way those ideas got cut. Perhaps for future DLC. Because honestly, a lot feels stripped due to things making absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's just a bunch of random encounters you fight through without any real sense of place or overall story. I'm not even max level and I'm already completely disillusioned by this. It's like meeting this really pretty girl. You start talking, you hit it off everything is going great and you setup a date. A couple of dates in and your thinking this is it and you're thankful for finding her. But as the relationship evolves you realize she's got not much else to offer besides her looks. You can't have a real conversation, she doesn't have any depth, she's shallow and before long you start finding excuses to cancel dates ultimately leading to you setting out for greener pastures.

Seriously considering selling this to get some of my money back.

Ah, young love. Fuck like bunnies and do all the perverted shit you can think of. Nah, that's normal. It's when they get older and stick around longer that they come up with rules and be all conservative.
