I still don't understand why Valve is doing this. It would make a lot more sense to me if it was Blizzard but I'd find that hard to believe as well.

Balloons or ordinary stars.

FUDGE DOTA! I want mah EPI3

-
Is it just me or is that the same voice in both trailers?
-
That is was. It seem like there's really only been a few episodes from the newer seasons that I find hilarious...
-
Yeah, the camp one was a bit odd. The newest episode wasn't too bad, hopefully they'll stay away from real world events for most of the end season.

I personally use 3ds max but you could use maya or XSI. You can export straight from 3ds max using the ASE file format or you can use the included 'ActorX' plugin for both maya and xsi. ActorX can also export animated meshes for all three programs.
If you don't use any of those, I think modo, blender, and others probably have plugins out there for proper exporting. I haven't really looked into it though.

Very cool, thanks for all the effort put into it!

also bunglo: i admire that you are willing to admit this in this circle of raging nerdosterone. some people might want to virtually tear you to shreds.
Their silence speaks much loader than words

Perhaps they'll have a steam sale soon and I'll pick it up.
That trailer does looking pretty awesome though.

No, the fountain DVD is more of your standard UV workflow for unique unwraps with some tips and tricks on things like overlapping UVs.
The same type of technique is used in this tutorial though:

I would personally come up with a little environment scene like the one in the above tutorial for a folio if you wanted to show that you could use the technique. Your current pieces look like they've been created to test the UV technique out rather than pieces built specifically for a portfolio.

Unfortunately, no

I'm planning on just waiting until Christmas time in hopes for some good sales. What's another three months to me if I can save some $$$.

The UDK is great and has everything you need to make a level. No need to make custom models and/or textures to get started.
I just started following the Intro to UDK DVD Hourences made for Eat3d and it's pretty flipping awesome. He also has free tutorials on his site:
http://hourences.com/book/tutorialsindex.htm
Plus he posts here... although minecraft might be taking up all of his free time

":17zkqslt]lol, and you didn't had the slight curiosity to check out on the internet what the game was really about before giving up?
Thought about it but I just didn't feel like getting into the game to be honest.
Quote from Duff-eIt's an alpha release by one guy. It's really popular right now and has lots of hype but that's not meant to imply it's some polished game. In fact it's amazing that despite its lack of polish people have actively figured out how to play minecraft instead of feeling entitled after years of being spoonfed bowls of linear garbage.
You got all that from my one comment? Interesting.

I downloaded it when their servers were down to try it out. Walked around the map for 10 minutes, pick up some flowers and twigs, couldn't figure out what to do, delete.

Awesome info everyone

That Samsung you linked Twiz is definitely something I can afford right now. Here's another Samsung that is pretty much the same, only major difference I can see is the 2ms response time. Think that would be worth the extra $30 (factoring shipping)?

I'm probably going to go to a store or two to check some out in person.

Looks like I'll have to do some research as I don't know anything about monitors other than what size I might want.
