playing bullestorm. grayson looks like a cross-breed between a neanderthal and a lion. the game is pretty fun, but the leash lock-on can be pretty annoying when trying to hit other things than enemies (that ball bomb, or environmental triggers).
Quote from SereniusI find it tragic how much time and talent is invested into repetitive online multiplayer modes that could be spent making the single player campaign better.
if better actually meant better, I would agree. however, it's not going to get any better until they drastically change the way they're making these games (which they won't). the failures of fps cod/bf singleplayer campaigns have already been described here, so I won't add more to it. my point is just that this kind of set piece-driven design is a broken vehicle to work with, it's not going to take you anywhere no matter how hard you work with it. that's why it's such a shame to see competent developers waste their time on it.
multiplayer is probably going to be awesome. the audio design in bc2 created a very different, more immersive multiplayer experience for me. wish they could release it as multiplayer only, it's tragic how much time and talent is invested into creating singleplayer campaigns.
Quote":3ovvt461]The right area is a bit dark tho, makes it harder to make out the detail. Love the composition tho, great shot.
thanks, but credit for the composition goes to whoever made the concept art.
i have fixed the right area, but i'm considering trying an alternate shot with night instead of day. thanks for the reply!

wip. placeholder trees and waterfall. some bugs/mistakes present
water could be nicer, the grass to water transition is a bit jarring. the rest looks pretty cool!

was looking forward to this because of rutger hauer. great acting and dialogue, but the movie was just too much (gore/unsettling) for me after a while. really wanted to like it.
enjoying this game a lot so far. the difficulty has been perfect for me and the levels have been very satisfying creatively. I like how I can die/fail and try again to do another completely different approach. I keep discovering emails/flashbacks but I have no idea how to view them. And for some reason my sound during cutscenes is really weak.
Quotealso; the protagonist is really good at swimming, he must be swimming at like 30 mph.

i'm especially curious about the story in crysis 2 after richard morgan shat all over the story writing in a few other FPS's a few months back (which was warranted).

Quote from madgernaderBeat Demon's Souls yesterday, and I've got to say the ending was terrible. Its a good thing I really enjoyed the gameplay, me and some friends are going to work on newgame+ tomorrow probably...Also playing Oblivion again. I'm surprised to say I enjoy it on xbox more than on PC... maybe its the achievements that keep me on some kind of path instead of getting completely distracted, bored, then starting over.
i thought the ending was good, pretty much concluding the whole greed-theme of the game. besides, maiden astraea was a pretty cool way to turn things on their head.
i've played dragon age 2 for 5-6 (?) hours and still haven't been able to equip a single piece of armor/weapon. it's either too high stat requirement or my character's can't use it. the combat system is pretty fun although there's no real tactical element to it that i can discern. the difficulty seems to come solely from number of enemies and their rank. Money seems completely useless outside of the first main quest, I have yet to discover a single merchant with anything worth buying.
i think it's funny that with bioware specializing in RPGs and all, the above-mentioned demon's souls shows better RPG gameplay elements than any of their earlier games (and demon's souls isn't really a "RPG"). most western RPGs can't hold a candle to that game. wouldn't it be nice to equip your character depending on the challenges that awaits you? rather than just going for whatever has the best stats. I guess Bioware's priorities lies with creating branching "epic" stories, perhaps too much for their own good.
might want to read this too; Did scientists discover bacteria in meteorites?
Quote from Pampersjust saw you got some cash from the norwegian film institute, congrats =)
i just read this too. congrats!
Depends on what kind of writing you are interested in, I mostly read blogs related to MMOs. For game criticism I would go to BrainyGamer or check out the incredibly useful critical-distance.com every week or so for a compilation of blog posts. The fullbright blog has ended but still has a lot of interesting content if you haven't read it yet. Considering the links you have provided so far, I would recommend: click nothing and design reboot which i just recently rediscovered (thought he stopped writing). you might want to consider subscribing to this magazine as well

love the attention to detail. awesome!
Quote from IzunoAnd I am no expert on zombie films, but I feel like most are either comic (Zombieland) or serious/horror (um...do Resident Evil movies count?)The Dead Island trailer's tone feels tragic, which is kind of a fresh take.
i wish there were more tragic zombie games/movies. 28 days later is without doubt the best zombie/angry-infected-persons movie I've seen and is an excellent example of a zombie movie with a tragic tone. i don't think this is that kind of game, but i'm interested nonetheless.
Crysis 2.
Quotejk. too soon?
just bought the sims 3, i'm playing that.
Quote from Vilhamie the suspect leaves a building and your wondering what is going on in there
I was completely dumbfounded when that happened. I still don't understand. How is it that a team of SWAT can't jump down a roof? Or just shoot him? Heavy Rain has some really tense moments, but the writing, if anything, is detrimental to that game. The new jurassic park game is more likely to benefit from this kind of gameplay.
i just noticed they have a helicopter too
