Played it for a couple of days on the 360, story is just lol....
Skillshots system I did enjoy at the start of the game - it's presented like some kind of mini achievement list and whenever you perform a skillshot it completes that skillshot in the list. Although later in the game the list is huge and I am like woaaaa so many things which one am I gonna focus on etc.
I do enjoy the panoramic views. Environment and atmosphere seems quite nice

What's the goal of this map?
I see different architecture styles, especially the bridge pillars looking quite different from eachother. This does feel quite odd. Or is this exactly what you wanted to create? Some kind of tf2 blu / red team difference?
The rocks look good, hard to see that it is only 1 mesh. Also love the last screenshot with the rounded bunker:)

uuhhh brushing those trees in looks really good and smooth, def gonna try cryEngine3 out soon.

Looks very good, made me think about Mirror's Edge the clean look and the white/greyish concrete contrasting with the bold colors.

Ah sorry, I see it now
Well thanks for all the reactions ppl! -
I'd love to do the 1024 challenge, sounds like fun.

e-freak we will probably release it some time soon, we just did the first big 20+ player tests and want to do some more. After that we will probably post it on modDB and try n enter some competitions. Not sure if we will release all the code though.
ReNo Yeah sounds were done in a few days with just some free tracks found on the internet
There will be some more big multiplayer tests so if people are interested I can get you in
Send me a PM, don't want to spam this thread
Installer is like 190 mb.

Yeah didn't focus on anything new, just making everything custom

Not a screenshot but a trailer

Worked on this 6 months ago when I was still in school. Wanted to make a full custom game with 6 people that had no or little experience with UDK.
I have worked on the first map VolcanoIsland.
Game features 3 classes, bomb planting/defusing and more!

Ok thanks everybody for your insights!
I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with doing art in my free time

Might switch to art later but will stick to design for now, thanks again!

Dear fellow mapcore members,
I have been struggling with a rather big issue lately and I hope some of you can give me feedback or insights.
I have been working as a designer in the games industry for 6 months now and it has come to my attention that since I'm a designer I am not involved with doing any art for the game. From my mod and hobby projects as a level designer I always did the design of a level PLUS decoration, textures, prop placement, lighting, post process, etc, etc.
Now after working for 6 months I start to miss not doing any art. Whenever I get home from work I am really glad to finally do stuff in UDK again and touch up on some decoration or other art related stuff.
Now my question is: do any of you guys experience the same thing? As in if you are a DESIGNER are you kept away from doing pretty artsy stuff? For example do you deliver your mockup and then you only have support tasks left while the environment artists do their thing?
Of course I understand that if you are in a smaller studio you would do both tasks but in bigger ones(40+) is it always separated like this?
Would love to hear some other experiences

Oh dear, just noticed the deadline is sunday. Gotta make something this weekend!
Btw I really like the quality of the entries so far, hope I can make something likewise in just a day

Quote from Sentura
i've been trying to go for some lighting contrast now, but i can't seem to find a good contrast in color (blue doesn't seem to be working). should i change the skybox (not that i have anything else to change it to).

Teal and orange is instant win!
Na but seriously, I would make the orange brighter and more glowy so you get more lighting from that and maybe pick a less dark color for the skybox so the overall feel isnt as dark as it is now.
Geometry looks great!

Sounds really fun

Show something pretty on your home page.
No seriously, you want to attract whoever visits your site within a few seconds. I see you have a demo reel hiding under the portfolio section somewhere, why dont you put it on the home page?
Also you say you are a game designer but I can only find Level design and Enviroment art. These are different things.

Welcome,
Couldn't find a Resume page or download, this is a must on any portfolio.
Quite handy to offer a linkedin link at your contact page.
Optional: At your contact page you might want to give some insight on why you enjoy level design, what motivates you? This however is a personal matter

Feedback on presentation of your work:
3 out of 5 screenshots from 'A Brief Detour' show the same location in a different angle, this makes me feel that the map is really small. However from screenshot 4 and 5 I see there is a lot more.
Good luck!

The usability changes are definitely noticeable. Looking good.
Keep it up!

Hey man, welcome
Portfolio looks professional, I like the work you have done

A few notes:
- [*:3gocl7ew]The vertical text on your homepage next to the images seem a bit out of place.
[*:3gocl7ew]Once I click on a picture I am lost, cant see where I am on the site. There is no back button or breadcrumbs to orientate.
[*:3gocl7ew]Let the visitor know which page they are on by highlighting the menu button. For example: if I am at the blog section I expect the blog button to be different from the other buttons.
[*:3gocl7ew]I would remove the tutorial section untill you actually have stuff to put on there.
[*:3gocl7ew]I'm not sure if your name stands out enough now that it's located at the top of your header, I found myself looking at the logo and pictures and then had to seach for your name.
Apart from that you certainly look competent!
Keep it up
