At first I was like
another Wii game that's depicted as very social and fun, but actually is boring as f and needs the ads just to sell. Then they started spanking eachother

I don't get it, when do you play it? When do you feel comfortable playing it?
Should I get me a Wii and ask a girl for a Spank-Wii-date?
Must be a joke, they're trollin'.

Don't know where you can add random finds, anyhow:
Check out the artwork for the 25th Aniversary of Zelda:
The making off vid is very interesting and actually more impressive to watch than the actual image imo.

but god damn this looks fucking amazingi bow down before our almighty Bethesda overlords. every single game they've made has seen me sink 40 or 50 hours into it. in the case of Oblivion, i played it for about 3 months straight. and didn't complete it. what a game.
Problem is, I think I'm probably gonna be bored after 10h because it's gonna feel/play exactly the same as Oblivion

The first person animations are still stiff

But yeah, dunno... Exploring is awsome, really, REALLY liked that in Oblivion and some quests were pretty damn cool! Hmm, now that I'm bringing up memories, this might actually be a lot of fun

Not as much of a long shot as you might think.
Interesting! I'm not into MMO's much so I never really read the news about those. The theme is also not to my liking. But I like that they're going for the story driven stuff so being BioWare and being good at what they do, perhaps they can implement that stuff to make a cool MMO.
Then I looked at this: http://www.ign.com/videos/2010/12/14/st ... tid=816935
An it looks like your everyday MMO... Still crap empty environments, but I guess you just can't do single player-ish quality environments for an MMO with current gen tech. That's what this thread is for anyways right, wishes

So yeah, a bit closer but still a long shot from what I had in mind, perhaps I wasn't clear enough... I'm not the best at explaining things

STEALTH
More *pure* stealth games
Like Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and MGS1.Haven't seen one in a modern or futuristic setting in a while, or have I just missed a few titles?
Alright... stealth has been used in a couple of games for like... 1 chapter, or an area... But that's just as a gimmick to break up the pacing of the game. Real stealth that makes you go, omg... I cleared this area I'm so PRO! No one is suspecting anything but I just rewired blahblahblah and in 5 mins shit's gonna blow!
That stuff makes me feel way more badass than stuff like Bulletstorm where you're supposedly a mean mother fker. And feeling accomplishment when you do something is nearly always wanted in a game, right?
Single player - co-op with a bit of endgame MMO influence, special abilities
This is a long shot, but I usually don't like MMO's for a variety of reasons. Anyhow, perhaps I'd like it if it was something like this:
Starts of as a single player (or make that co-op?) experience like a decent RPG has that gradually turns into an engame MMO in which the setting is modern/futuristic like with special abilities.
The beginning has a nice opening, you might not even have special abilities at first. Also, not superman stuff... Something like the tv series "Heroes" but more subtle like in the movie "Push".
Not "you've been spawned into an ugly open world, go kill some rats". After the single player kind of experience where you've been introduced to the game and after a decent finale, the game starts to open up into endgame MMO. You're basically skipping the first big shitty half MMO's have. The environment should be immersive, believable. A city, scientific facilities, whatever. First normal, then stuff goes wrong, environment changes...?
Of decent single player RPG quality. Not, here's a plane... We put some shit onto it. The majority of players is apparantly ok with that nowadays, but all new MMO's suffer from it, there's no immersion at all.
So yeah, basically... the beginning puts you into the game in a nice way, it's awsome. You don't want to grind to get amazing gear or whatever, no rush. You're just playing the game! Gradually when you know what's going on you're getting abilities and by the end of it, you're thrown into the MMO aspect of the game.
In the MMO engame part there's instances, battlefields and the storyline continues with big battles.
So the whole beginning of your everyday MMO is bypassed and has decent storytelling. No grind, no shitty beginner quests. Just a nice single player experience and you use the character you developed in the MMO engame and it's all about having fun with friends and teamplay. See it like a prolonged single player game.
I'm not even sure I would like it, very experimental... Perhaps I would, I honestly don't know.
Or perhaps I just don't like MMO's as a whole? -
Noticed I haven't been added to the list, so that'd be nice

I updated my linkedin profile, both that and my portfolio can be found in my sig.
Btw Evert, if you're reading this... I'm gonna see if I can find your desk on Monday, if you're not overly busy then.

Bulletstorm and Killzone 3 have been leaked as well...
Okay, should we get accustomed to this or what? -
I disliked the trailer at first, the first minute is boring. It takes a lot of time to actually hit me emotionally... And it only did so the second time, but also only partially cos it was the 2nd time I saw it. I also wouldn't have watched it again if it weren't for everyone hyping (overrating?) it at the office.
Also, the little girl is so fugly and looks so fake compared to the rest causing the "uncanny valley" effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley
QuoteMori's hypothesis states that as a robot is made more humanlike in its appearance and motion, the emotional response from a human being to the robot will become increasingly positive and empathic, until a point is reached beyond which the response quickly becomes that of strong revulsion. However, as the appearance and motion continue to become less distinguishable from a human being, the emotional response becomes positive once more and approaches human-to-human empathy levels.[7]
So yeah, revulsion towards the little girl... She wasn't just realistic enough.
Not sure what I think of it in the end... It's too long, that's certain... At least for me it was.
I hope the combat will not be the same like in L4D as well as movement, I also hope they make it very story driven.
Dunno, not really interested... They'll have to do better with gameplay videos to actually get me to buy another zombie game. If they turn it into a brainless action game I'm not gonna like it, that's for sure. We'll see.
Quote from KungFuSquirrelI wrote up some thoughts on the trailer: http://blog.button-masher.net/2011/02/1 ... -of-games/ {shameless blog promotion, eh?
)Awsome suggestion, if the game is like that: A short game in which death is inevitable and you have a sandboxy environment in which you're free to handle the situation. Then it's insta buy, it's probably not gonna be as original though. My bet is on what I described earlier, but I really hope it isn't.

Most people who played L4D/2 take the game way too seriously. If you're a noob, count on getting kicked out of pretty much every game you play. Also prepare for the nerd rage from your team mates. I would play through the single player campaign until you feel relatively comfortable with the mechanics.
It was the campaign... Well meh, it's better now, I started hosting my own games and I seem to be getting the hang of it. The other players don't really seem to take care of others though... I always have the most protects 'n stuff...

Started my first Left for Dead 2 game, 5 mins into the game I got kicked out by my teammembers... Don't know why, guess I sucked too hard

Anyone that plays that game?

If anyone wants to play it, tell me your SteamID, mine is "Chimeray" but it's patching atm... I guess playing alone is pretty... dull, no?

I voted for the door, sounds like a good design test

The 1024³ isn't limited enough while this doorway thingy is. It's cool to see how other designers tackle the same scenario, therefore... the door!

I like where this project is going, the height differences made it way more interesting!

But... I reached the end of the world, I leaped off... and I was gone:

This didn't happen in the previous release, but perhaps I got lucky? Dunno, perhaps you learn something from the screeny? In that whole length the level is "cut".

And suddenly I see fanboy replies on youtube and newsposts alike between cryengine and frostbite...
First time I saw someone referencing the cryengine 3 as: QQengine3
The f...? You can be a fanboy of anything these days, all this fuss.

Mirror's Edge props in that radiosity vid? Perhaps hinting that ME2 will be made in frostbite2 as well?
Damn, it looks insane.

MAX CUSTOMIZATIONDoes that mean I can swap it out for a coffee mug?
HELL YES!

It's the usual marketing crap I guess, only bought it cos it's so responsive and has excellent surface tracking. Apparantly it has 8 programmable buttons and a shitload of driver settings to suit your needs.
My Razer Deathadder is utter crap now, been double clicking for months
So yeah, it was time for something new... and a new brand since I don't trust Razer no more as far as durability is concerned. -
Purchased these over the net, should arrive Tuesday/Wednesday. If not, then I'm screwed cos i'll be in Sweden from Thursday on.

Sennheiser PX 360, unfortunately not a lot of reviews cos it's only been shown on CES2011. Hopefully I haven't made a stupid purchase.
And that'll be all for a while. Spent enough as it is

They said they'd explain the orange thingy at one point in an interview once, they never did though =(.
I thought it was just the light from an explosion
There's a meaning behind it?Never played battlefield 2 but I've always been a fan of vehicles in games so definitely looking forward to playing this! Kind of a sucker that I never got BF2
A bit too late now I guess.
