I have seen your work on polycount, it nice you enhanced a bit the brightness because on some monitors it was impossible to see something. Now I think you have find a good balance between "hiding things" and having a playable environment.

Also, I like the orange colors, it looks like hell !

just finished Batman Arkham Asylum. Great game with lots of cool moments (and next to Splinter Cell Conviction my second game exclusively played with the gamepad). But WHAT THE heck is up with Games for Windows Live? Took ages to load everytime I start the game. First time starting the game it took an extra half-an-hour to set it up (because it only realised after the game was loaded that it needed an update)... seriously, why do Developers still use that crap

I have also played recently that game. GFWL annoyed me as hell until... I made an offline account. From this moment I was free. No silly updates, no silly synchronizations, nothing at all. And I played the game with Steam Big Picture in my bed by the way, that was awesome !

I saw this yesterday and this looks like an exciting tool !

Too bad I prefer the UDK for my project, but prototyping with this would be very cool and fast.

(I always feels that Maya and other 3D software could gain some cools tools just by looking at how Hammer create game geometry)

    That's a really nice update.

I kinda think it's a bit harder to distinguish between posts now. Is there a way to make every other post a slightly different colour (like a blue colour), to further distinguish between posts? I think I've seen that on some forums before.

Either that or just some sort of outline to keep the posts separate? I think the League of Legends forums does it well: http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=867474

My only complain join the one from PogoP : different colors between each post.

If one day you have the time : a black theme. The white is really killing my eyes ! x]

As much as I wish compiling were a thing of the past, until there's a truly convincing fully-dynamic solution, it's the only way to go for convincing results imo.

I would smack you everywhere if I could.

    Right side for me.

Feels more natural with the mood of the map. The left one feels like a crappy filter applied with Instagram.

They must be really tight there, got any refs of the model you were told to work from?

    Yep : http://www.gidian-gelaende.de/Material_ ... ace/album/

or some example of works that did pass?

I will see what I can get, I will ask to the authors before.

    Quote from Chimeray

@FroyokVery strange that they didn't pass you 8| I went to the school in Flanders and they were way more lenient. (Assuming you go to one in Wallonia?)

But it wasn't escpecially that art focussed so perhaps because of that... Anyhow, wondering if those teachers are actually competent... A lot of game related teachers in Belgium don't seem to have any industry experience.

A filter is just a filter FFS, sounds like bullshit.

Hey, at least you got an extra year in college to improve your skills! Will definitely work in your favor once you're finished, you can do a lot in 1y!

I kinda miss college, was a very nice environment to nurture one's skills. At least for me

Yep, Wallonia. Ours teachers are great by the way, I don't doubt of that. A lot of them still work in the game industry and what they teach is well done. In a few hours I will discuss with them so I will find more info about why I didn't pass.

As you say, one more is a good benefit i na certain way. Skillzzzz !

Froyok, that's really sweet looking! There are two criticisms I would give you, 1. Everything looks very 'mottled', that is, the bark and stones are splotchy and that's kind of weird. 2. Since it's a 'floating island' of stuff you can't really create a great 'composition' in screenshots. Could really use a backdrop.

For the "mottled" effect it's because of my sharpen post-process effect done in UDK (which is quite bad). I should have disabled it. I hesitated to add some floating rocks/tiny island in the rest of the sky to complete the scene but since it was not in the model I was not sure.

    Quote from Pericolos0

froyok: that looks awesome! Howcome it wasn't succesful?

As kikette said my work was not satisfying enough to allow me to pass in the next year. So I retake the current one. The work was to reproduce in UDK a scene from a model with some personalized parts.

Here is my end year project for my school. Unfortunately it was not enough to be successful.

Feel free to critic. (And as always when I finish one of my work, I start to hate it.)

    Left-handed too ! \0_

The most annoying key for me is the W (Z in Qwerty) because my right thumb finger is already used for the CTRL key (that I use to crouch). I use Space to jump with the base of my hand.

ZQSD (or WASD in Qwerty) to move. A and E (Q & E in qwerty) to lean when I can.

    R for reload of course.

This also mean I mostly use my scroll wheel to change my weapons and not the shortcut with the numbers.

X,C,V and F are also hard to reach.

    I never reused the arrows since Half-life 1 ! x]

At least for FPS, for racing games I use the arrows.
