It has to be right on the water to make a boat. If you want to build a watermill, you also have to be right on the river.

Finally sat down with the Halo Reach campaign again last night on Heroic and went from mission 1 (lost my save game somehow) all the way to the first space mission
Quoteand the corvette mission right afterwards. Elites using the powerups like armor lock just simply isn't fair on heroic.

Think he's talking about this shot, Corwin.

I'm interested in seeing how the co-op campaign plays. According to what I've read, it's supposed to scale up the difficulty (not sure if that's through more enemies or tougher ones) to match the number of people you have playing at the same time. If it scales up the number of enemies, I can imagine some of the fights will just be redonkulously epic.

Saw the demo trailer. Getting this for sure next Friday.

I don't get why people don't get it. A fun game is a fun game.
On that note, trying to do the initial campaign play through on Legendary was a bad idea.

I'm definitely in the minority but I'll never understand the appeal of Halo. To me it's just generic space shooter #438 with a story that makes Steven King look like James Joyce.
For me it was the Covenant AI that drew me in. I loved every part of the game that had the Covenant, and hated every part that focused on the Flood, purely because the Covenant AI was that good.
The open arenas that allowed for a multitude of strategies were a breath of fresh air from the corridor shooters I was accustomed to at the time.

Just finished another play through of the MW2 single player campaign. I don't know how it was "too pro-USA." The US got a beat down the whole game, and the patriotic atmosphere is pretty fitting for all the parts spent as an Army Ranger. It would be a bit weird for it to be pro-Russia.

Playing through Metro 2033 now that my rig can run it. Such a pretty game.

During his keynote, John Carmack made a few statements indicating that id games would not be coming to the Android. Glad that won't be the case after all.

Always, always, always build as much as you can in BSP while prototyping, and replace as much of that BSP as you can with static meshes once you're done polishing gameplay and have moved to the visual passes.

Man, that poor family.

I'm glad to see those idiots getting homicide charges and not manslaughter. There's no excuse for driving under the influence.

Naw, Gearbox likes making money, and 2k is ready to get some ROI. I'd say it will be out within 2 years.

Dreamhost prices are insanely good for the bandwidth and storage you get, but as Thrik mentioned, the site speeds can be pretty terrible, and there's no real predictable pattern to it at all. Haven't had any issues with up time through them though.

Back to finishing the second half of Red Dead Redemption. It's crazy just how well executed the game is in almost every way.

Yeah it is nice. It's slicker than the default theme, but under the hood it actually uses a lot of the default theme's HTML and CSS which means it's really easy to update when phpBB brings out a new version. Now I've updated everything I can stay on top of theme updates now and make sure new features are integrated properly straight away (like the 'Quick Reply' feature that's now at the bottom of each thread).
Of course I'll be building upon it in the near future, but this time making sure I keep a proper log of what's been changed so it's easy to re-do customisations.

Also thanks for that CSS dump Em, I had to get some little bits I added and forgot to save from it.

On the serious, thanks for all the hard work. Updating almost any kind of forum is a royal PITA.
On the not serious at all, could we get a bit more blue and orange contrast?

That's awesome. The UDK god rays poking through the trees were a nice touch too.
