    I didn't knew you could have a tv channel broadcasting what your country "thinks" on the international scene (like maybe it's not the opinion of the majority of the citizens in the country), it's paid with your taxes, and you didn't know about it. I'm blown away


    That is weird. I'm aware that there's a global BBC entity (both channel and news site I think), yet we can't even access the website in the UK without proxies and the channel certainly isn't aired here. I remember stumbling upon it one day and it telling me I can't view it because it's not funded by the UK TV license system. It doesn't tend to come up in UK search results either. It feels like these things are set up specifically to speak for us without letting us have any idea what's being said...


    BBC world service is paid for by licensing out shows/channels to foreign networks and selling box sets. Basically it has nothing to do with the state funded (which I'm not even sure you can classify the BBC as, the money never passes through the state, there is merely a law stating you must have a license if you own a TV, which the BBC has to argue they deserve over another channel every few years) BBC, it is its own entity.

    RT's mission is to provide Russia's perspective on current affairs, this is on their frontpage if I'm not mistaken. To me, that's what makes it special. When something happens you can compare what CNN/FOX are reporting against RT and use a middle ground to paint a picture of reality. The truth usually stands in between two extremes.


    I'll reserve my judgement for Putin's actions for later, but so far not a single person has been hurt as a direct result of his actions in Crimea and that's a fact.

    "The constitution allows for a president to serve a six year term " changed under Medvedev (quite blatently under Putins orders, he couldn't have done it during his own term that would have been a tad too obvious) to allow Putin to serve another 12 years, guess what will happen then, he will sit down for a term, allow one of his cronies to be president and its a sure bet that Putin will be back for another 12 years. Definitely democracy.

    Depends on where you're looking at it.

    I find the western world largely biased towards the US.

    Russia has been the "great evil" before sliced bread, difference with the US being that they don't give a fuck and MOSTLY don't hide it.

    Russia is a "democracy" that has had its law changed to let the same guy run for the same office beyond what was legally allowed and used a clause to blatently side step the entire principle of democracy, that imprisons political rivals, that has pretty much only state run media, that despite having its own separatist movements that are killed by the Russian state and who quite clearly doesn't give a damn about self determination hypocritically invades another country to "protect the rights of Russian speaking citizens and self determination" when no one has even died and aren't under any current threat of being repressed.


    I mean seriously... I know the world isn't black and white, that western countries carry out some pretty fucked up stuff. But it pales in comparison to how Russia would rule the world if it was a dominate super power.

    Got 170 people now, passed up on 29 nomads as I didn't think I would be able to support them at the moment. Need to expand some more resource posts for food and wood with some houses first.

    I've been struggling to have more than 130 people in my towns. I can never get enough firewood, and every 10 years or so famine suddenly strikes and half my population is gone. I even had a tornado right after I controlled a famine which reduced my town to 20 people or so lol


    Pogos, how are you dealing with food and materials when you expand? Everytime I expanded too fast that bit me in the ass later on... I can never get enough firewood, even though I upgraded most of the houses to stone. I guess the problem is that I don't have a market in the city's center.

    This has far more in common with Pharaoh than sim city. Pharaoh or Caesar both had campaigns that were great and made each mission enjoyable and challenging.

    By the way, a nice trick is to get hunters cabins as early as possible, they provide leather which a tailor can use to make clothes which have a really high price when trading. (You are going to need a lot of those to acquire your first seeds/livestock on hard)


    Anyways, restarting again and let's see how far I can take this new one

    I have 144 people at the moment and 3 woodcutters, 2 markets provide for my town. Never seem to have a shortage, infact cut wood is one of my main exports with tools and clothes. Half my houses are stone half are wood.

    Cause it's fun to learn the mechanics of a city builder, but once you know them it's like playing an FPS on the same map over and over, it's gets pretty repetitive if you don't have any scenarios to adapt your knowledge to.


    Still that's looks super good and i will buy it anyway

    Yeah all these indie games are basically ignoring campaigns and scenarios in favour of just sandbox, for me sandbox is only satisfying for so long. I much prefer a campaign or scenarios where there are certain conditions and each game takes a couple hours.
