    Anyone else playing this game?

I'm having a blast, this is the city builder that I've been looking for. It's easy to get into but building a large city and dealing with crisis along the way can get pretty challenging.

Definitely recommended if you like that sort of games

sim mixed with rts without the war-machine mechanic? sounds like a lot of fun.

Had a guy here at the office playing it all lunch, snow never wanted me to play a game as much since the first SSX game for PS2! Looks super cozy! (and fun)

Aye good stuff, I followed your advice and started over on Hard difficulty and it's already a lot more fun, starting with nothing and having to build your way up.

Ya I've been playing it a lot, started on hard... Doesn't seem that difficult really, once you get a good source of food sorted, you're pretty much on easy mode. What is there to do later?

Unfortunately it isn't like anno or caesar, its pretty shallow tbh, zero meta game other than survive.

My town at home has reached 150 people but all I'm really doing is expanding.

20 bucks, sunk over a dozen hours into it, compare that to "AAA" and the lack of combat or "end game" is pretty much irrelevant to me

I have always wanted a city builder where I just build a city without the combat. May have to check this out!

Just buy caesar/pharoah on GoG you will get far more time with a better sim game at only $5.

I can recommend this game, Tropico, Anno or caesar/pharoah if you want that.

Don't get me wrong, I am really enjoying it. It's a lovely little game. I just wish there was more to do further down the line, that's all. It still has a great deal of potential

I played Tropico and it was too complicated and the mechanics were often confusing and hidden. I don't necessarily want that level of depth, i want a cozy as fuck game that makes you feel like you accomplished something.

Yeah I played Tropico quite a bit and I found it way too easy and half the time I didn't even have any idea the effect I was having on my citizens.

What worries me a bit is the repetitiveness, maybe the guy will add more stuff ? i mean in pharaoh for example, you had scenarios where the resources were limited, the setting for arable grounds, rivers, cliffs etc weren't the same, and you had objectives for the scenario like growing a city of 3000 people, sell a certain quantity of manufactured products, or build motherfucking pyramids.

Cause it's fun to learn the mechanics of a city builder, but once you know them it's like playing an FPS on the same map over and over, it's gets pretty repetitive if you don't have any scenarios to adapt your knowledge to.

Still that's looks super good and i will buy it anyway

Yeah good point Koko. It definitely needs some scenario stuff, that would be really cool

that's all in banished, koko. there's achievements for doing crazy stuff - it's not an objective but it's an achievement. and the settings for the terrain type can all be changed, although it would be nice to have different visuals for different terrain types and climates etc

/edit i'm not trying to mindlessly fanboy for the game because i don't care either way, but the game does give you a lot of options to do these things, i guess it just isn't presented in a flashy way and that might throw a few people off.

Yeah all these indie games are basically ignoring campaigns and scenarios in favour of just sandbox, for me sandbox is only satisfying for so long. I much prefer a campaign or scenarios where there are certain conditions and each game takes a couple hours.

This is a city builder, just like Sim City where the goal is just to build. I don't remember ever playing those scenarios in Sim City I wouldn't worry about that in the long run, they are going to add mod support soon and I expect the community to make some really crazy modes. Hoping they get steamworks support for that.

I've been struggling to have more than 130 people in my towns. I can never get enough firewood, and every 10 years or so famine suddenly strikes and half my population is gone. I even had a tornado right after I controlled a famine which reduced my town to 20 people or so lol

Pogos, how are you dealing with food and materials when you expand? Everytime I expanded too fast that bit me in the ass later on... I can never get enough firewood, even though I upgraded most of the houses to stone. I guess the problem is that I don't have a market in the city's center.

So far I've only managed to get up to around 40 people, I keep on restarting every day because I'm a perfectionist hehe!

How many woodcutters do you have? You might need to get a couple more woodcutters to allow faster production. Are you running out of trees/logs? Or are your people just consuming more wood than you're producing?
