CJ that tribute looks fucking awesome.
Ive finally got my layout planned, just need some time to make my CTF UT3 map now.

yeah i always think of that as more of a link thread, basically telling people is they want help to go elsewhere ![]()
like atm im trying to learn how to create various effects in unreal with lighting but the 3d buzz tutorials (which so far have been the best unreal tutorials) don't really go into that much detail and are for the UDK rather than UT3 editor which has less options.
Btw how come this site doesn't have a Level design help thread or something, I would think with the knowledge base this site has it would be a very useful thread for users?
Rules look good, I think ill defiantly be going for a gameplay win and not artwise ![]()
Quote from KungFuSquirrelThat is an excellent question. I think the ability to have moving pieces is a great addition and could give people some really creative options. Since Quake/HL levels will be able to do this with brushwork, I'd personally be ok with letting Unreal entries use dynamic meshes that have been directly converted from a convex brush that fits our rules. Each use of the same dynamic mesh also would count as one of your 20 brushes. Is that fair?
I think for this contest, we'll probably have to say it's probably a no-go.
What did you have in mind?
Yeah sounds good, allows me to create my idea in unreal.
Bad company Vietnam is aaaawwwweeesome ![]()

If you havent got it, get it. I think it improves on most things from bfbc2 except for helicopters being weak as piss.
Does that extend to unreal as well then, turning a brush into a mesh so you can use it in a matinee sequence?
what about turning brushes into things? Ie turning a brush into a func_rotating?
So nodes can by dynamic and it will update the nodes as you play? Awesome.
Couple questions about unreal for you guys:
Can you make brush part of a matinee in unreal?
Can you make a brush apply dynamic lighting to its surfaces?
Can you make things like jump pads/nodes dynamic, ie moving?
grats all these people getting jobs

Quote from Sereniusbecause that was the first time it had even shown me C4 and i had no idea what it was. Anyway what kind of shoddy design is that, if you make a choice you get severely punished such that you have to reload an earlier checkpoint?
What level was it? There's usually another launcher laying around somewhere. ![]()
The AA gun one, from what I could find there wasn't another one about. Doesn't really matter tbh, was just that it turned my opinion on the game on its head in an instant. Went from great really fun experience, to extremely frustrating experience.
Quote from SereniusWhy would you use a rocket launcher to take out the SAM when you have C4 and explosive barrels?

well the 3rd point ive encountered the chopper there was a rocket launcher, which I used to destroy the SAM and then the bloody chopper turned up
so basically im boned and ive gotta reload an earlier save because I didn't magically have this foresight.
Disappointed to say the least.
I dunno how u guys were doing that coz every time i tried that (maybe 20 times) I got a chain gun in my face, even through the canopy of the jungle :/. I spent ages trying to shoot the pilot as that is the obvious weak point in any kind of vehicle, especially as bullets seemed to just ping off them.
Did i not mention that in the first pos.. o wait. I did:
It is impossible to hide from. Even if you stealth and go somewhere it can't possibly see you it knows where you are.
I know. And i want answers!!!!!
Jesus Christ, who wrote the design doc for the helicopter in crysis, because the choppers are fucking retarded. I don't think ive encountered a more annoying and poorly thought out enemy vehicle in my entire gaming history. From the first point the chopper joins the game it went from a fun to tedious and shit.
It has pin point accuracy.

It detects you if you come within 500ft
It doesn't stop chasing you ever?!
You can't shoot it down with a normal gun.
It takes 5+ grenade launchers (I don't know exactly because hitting it more than 50% of the time with the nade launcher is pretty tough) to destroy it.
Same goes for jeeps and boats too, as soon as they can possibly see you, they have seen you.
