Maybe all those MGS games are good to play, but i fucking hate those silly stories and scenarios...

I never played those game (i may have tried the one one PS1 and the one and PS2), but once i got a conversation with a friend who is also a fanboy... And god, he tried to explain me the story and why he found that game awesome : that was what i hate in games, and mostly in nippon games.

For this last one, engine, design and tech looks awesome. Maybe gameplay is awesome too, but man that story, i can't get in... And i find myself horrible, because every body who loves MGS loves it for its stories.

So this game is slowly becoming about humiliating people that don't rush fast enough to find a gun...

    And post it on reddit.

So people can see you as a Dayz Master Player.

My biggest complaint right now is that there is really no 'Real' need for people to work together. The game needs coop functionality, besides the basic survival/shooter/socializing aspects. Even Rust and 7 days to die (alphas) are far ahead of this in terms of things to build, craft, etc.

My first impressions were this: The Running Simulator, which is what this game pretty much comes down too, and that every one person I tried to meet turned out to be a psychopath, probably so bored all they do is shoot/kill you, ask questions later. And later to find out that if your server has a Voip, get on it, meet the people and enjoy the game more (which I have now.) If your on TS, etc with some people its more enjoyable.

My best moments were when i was playing on a semi-roleplay server, where there were differents factions with their own camps. This was a private srever with a mature (lol, in fact there was a lot of jerks) community. What i found cool was to work with teamplay, loot, raid, etc... There were some gamemaster to create some basic mission, or to add new content from Arma 2. That was fun.

I left this server because people were too serious in their roles, too much roleplay for me...

I'm not that kind of guy who like to play a roleplay with people i don't know. I was just playing for factions, semi-persistent world, and known people.

My mom bought me the firsts four The Walking Dead comics.

Decided to buy them all. What a nice comic, really interesting to see differences from the show. And hell, that's brutal !

FMPONE, yeah, that's what i tell to anyone asking me if Dayz is good : overall idea is genius but production and execution are really bad. Right concept, wrong company.

Seriously, an open semi-mmo where peope have to scavenge and loot in order to survive, kill random encounters to steal their loot, build camps and gather as community, with good graphics and smooth gameplay. Wow. Such game.

As said, unless you like to deal with a buggy-unstable-unfinished game, you should wait to buy it : price should remain the same when released.

But if you are really curious and if you think you might try it now then play to it later, go !

Now, the game is empty and unless you have friends, it's boring (but maybe that's just me, i spent so much hours in the mod that i know almost all mecanics).

3 guns, 100 zombies per map, 40 max players, horrible collisions and Character/control/camera (wont change but i like to point this out), no hunting, no crafting, no vehicles, no loot respawn until server restart every 6h, etc...

So now, it's basicaly a platform for people who did play the mod and want to hitchhike in a more detailed Chernarus. And kill fresh spawns on coasts.

If you think of those 9 months of dev, you can ask yourself where theses month are in this stage of the game : right now, C/C/C are a copy-paste from Arma 2.5.

The server architecture is even more buggy than the mod : you have to wait 1 minute till the object you put on the ground appear.

Only the map have been a bit improved, but you still need an Alienwere to run it in HD. I have 8go of RAM, quad core at 2.7go and a GPU at 3go, can't play in any quality at 60fps. Most of the time game is playable, but when i'm in towns = big FPS drops, even if i had a gun i couldn't shoot at people. And in fact, even without lag you couldn't because of the shitty mmo structure.

But, beside all this, you can have some laught with friends. And might think that 30$ isn't that expensive you.

    Enjoy

Agree, what is more frustating than have no answer is to have partial or evasive answers.

I applied last year to a company that i though i could fit in and where a friend were already working, the HR was a bit nooby i think so she answers me something like "Nope, we don't want you".

Leaving me with no answer... Later i spoke to my friend and he told me that my folio was "weak" in her words... So i get back to her and ask what i could improve and what i should work to candidate again, ven asking for an art test. No answers.

I know that i don't have anything in my folio but student and doodles crap, but yeah, even if it's hard to ear, i prefer to know what's wrong with my work than no or partial answers.

Yeah in the mod if you fired your gun or were in close proximity to another player you would have to wait to log out. I guess stuff like that will come in the future but right now it's really annoying.

In the many propositions from the community to solve the insta-logout-in-fight, this was the baddest...

Imo, the easiest way to solve this would be to let a persistent image of the character where and when someone disconnects for few seconds.

This would be more realistic, and if you disconnect when you think you are safe but you were chased by a hunter that kills you, at your next spawn you'd have a popup message like "you are dead, taking a nap in these woods was not a good idea".

I've bought a lot of random crap just because it was cheap, also bought a few games I've been waiting for buy for ages like Skyrim, Dishonoured, Remember Me and the Bioshock series. I'm going to power my way through them during lunchbreaks this year I think.

Yeah me too, but during those christmas sales, i didnt bought much games... I have around 200 games and didnt played at 20% of them !

I bought Contagion (tried few minute) and Deadlight, witch turned to be a very polished game ! Wasn't expecting to dig the mood so much

I officially quit the mod when I got killed by a door

Hitchhiking simulator or frustration simulator ? Both ?

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/12/20/impressions-dayz/

"These are all minor issues. The problems in DayZ standalone I eventually lost patience with all revolve around the zombies. First is the melee combat. It’s not so much that the animations are poor, but that the collision detection when facing zombies is so random. One hit from a zombie can screw up a character you’ve invested hours in, so when they simply walk through an axe swing and whack you it’s enormously frustrating."

In the mod walking toward any door, rock, stair, ladder, or props was a way to die. I didn't experienced any death like that in the SA.
