Now THAT is what I'm talking about!

I love how they changed every weapons EXCEPT the shotguns. No need to mess with perfection

I've been listening to it nonstop. Loving the MOON and Jasper Byrne tracks but everything is great.

Just about to take a 9 hour busride with my VITA

I have little big planet, lumines and gravity rush. Gravity rush is in japanses. Thank god the text is just superficial. If there were gameplay goals I would be screwed.

You can totally gun your way through / fall back to a doorway and wait for the AI to walk into your gunfire. The game will insult you for this play-style, but it'll let you beat the game that way, because why not?

    Lol it actually insults you?

I can see that working for most of the levels outside of the PD inflitration. I tried that, it eventually worked after about 90 deaths.

That's also the nice thing about the game. It's served in portions the perfect size that it doesn't make you want to scream in frustration. It's great to see Cactus really reach a new level as a game designer.

    Anyone else played this game?

I havent had this much fun playing this game in a very long time. Beat the game in 2 sittings.

It's a blend of surreal arcade semi-stealth gamepaly with some of the best melee and gun combat feel I've seen in recent memory. The story is also really interesting. It's one of those rare games where I actually wanted to see more of the story. Usually the story bores me.

The way the gameplay, combat, story, graphical style and music blend together is just amazing. Best game I've played this year easily. Maybe it's best to just post a video

Man I think I actually like Max Payne 3 the best of all. I'll have to reserve judgement until I replay the first 2.

Just finished Lone Survivor. Great game, one of the best stories in a long time. It's like a David Lynch story only without a hugely disappointing ending.

I havent had a lot of experience with the SDK but from playing the games and the little experience I do have it looks like just direct lighting with SSAO on top.

Are there any examples of realtime GI or gathering? I remember Nvidia released Gelato and that was like a really fast renderer, Then they bought mental images and cancelled gelato about 3 years ago. Haven't heard anything since.

One funny thing about that Jan quote is the game he made (which was the poster-boy game for 7DFPS and VenusPatrol) is GunGodz.

Interesting read. I would argue that there is a whole new generation of indie-only gamers who have no idea who Minh Le is. I would also argue that a large amount of them read RPS. EDIT: Albeit Justin Fisher is definitely less known overall.

But what about the modders who don't want or need jobs? Now there's this split in motivation and goals. What did that do to modding?

Not sure I understand the question. I think I possibly fit the criteria though. I still just mod/make games for fun and work in a mostly unrelated industry. I do certainly have point in my life where I forget why I'm doing it and lose motivation. It comes and goes like any other hobby.

":9i397mt0]Damn... this is so unexpected. Must be hard to turn your back to the company you founded only to let it be run by a greedy publisher.

There have been some rumors floating around twitter that this leaving also coincides with the amount of time they were contractually obligated to stay at Bioware after the buyout.

On a different note, I wasn't really feeling their games by the time KOTOR came out. Granted I'm not a big SW fan.

I just kind of wish they would have just done a Baldurs Gate 3, with all the difficulty and play options.

I've been repeatedly told through my programming life that game programming is one of the lowest paying programmer fields there is. I wonder if it's because they account for all the overtime and then divide the salary by hours or if other programmers actually do make over 200k after 6 years experience.

Also working as an artist in Canada on an average between what jobs I had I'd say I made about 48k a year. In most cases things were done on a contract basis though so I had a more expenses and no benefits.
