    Anyone else played this game?

I havent had this much fun playing this game in a very long time. Beat the game in 2 sittings.

It's a blend of surreal arcade semi-stealth gamepaly with some of the best melee and gun combat feel I've seen in recent memory. The story is also really interesting. It's one of those rare games where I actually wanted to see more of the story. Usually the story bores me.

The way the gameplay, combat, story, graphical style and music blend together is just amazing. Best game I've played this year easily. Maybe it's best to just post a video

I was playing this game on Gamescom and talked with one of the developers (the graphics guy). Really nice game, hard for me (maybe I didn't get understood all the keys), reminds me one old game (exactly the same perspective, really similiar graphics, some cops action) - lots of fun for few bucks...

You can totally gun your way through / fall back to a doorway and wait for the AI to walk into your gunfire. The game will insult you for this play-style, but it'll let you beat the game that way, because why not?

    Lol it actually insults you?

I can see that working for most of the levels outside of the PD inflitration. I tried that, it eventually worked after about 90 deaths.

That's also the nice thing about the game. It's served in portions the perfect size that it doesn't make you want to scream in frustration. It's great to see Cactus really reach a new level as a game designer.

I've been listening to it nonstop. Loving the MOON and Jasper Byrne tracks but everything is great.

i understood neither of the posts that quoted mine. let me rephrase: i get combat fatigue. games with a lot of shooting are boring to me.

Yeah was going to mention Jasper made a track for it. For those that don't know Jasper used to be a DnB artist called Sonic which is why hes making some great music, now hes also a game developer.

    great music.

but lol at this fucking "it's indie it's supposed to look lo-fi and crappy teehee!"

the face art is pretty bad, it's not stylised it's just not good. there's some huge fucking problems with the gameplay in places, the first "boss" fight is one of those.

i like the idea, but the execution is a little shit.

/edit yeah the wallas character that can only be beaten with shotguns. what shitty design when you don't allow the player to utilise weapons properly

It's harder than I expected! It is definitely not just carnage but takes strategy and good reflexes...almost too good reflexes at times. It's still fun though.

Just got the true ending. The story is quite interesting. I would talk about it but everything is a spoiler :x

so i didn't play the game, but i read a gamasutra article about the story, which sounds super cool. i'm tempted to pick it up and play it completely different from how it is "supposed to be played", but i doubt there is actually another route...

Argh, this reminds me of a controversial Amiga game I can’t remember the name of. Same mob vibe, camera angle and the big sprites for the corpses were something you didn't really see. Though it had more of a puzzle element to the scenarios.

Finished it the other day, didn't get the proper ending tho

My brain melted when the dialogue options popped up. I mean, not exactly rocket science to implement that, but to have that just before the end was super awesome. Also love how there's an incentive to go back and find all the puzzle pieces.

Fantastic game, only complaint I've got are the boss battles. They kinda sucked :G~

this game left a really weird, almost uncomfortable impression on me. which is totally awesome. i rarely "feel" anything at all when playing most games, it's usually only my left brain enjoying it because there's no emotional investment (because the story, setting etc. is shit).

there are some exceptions every year, like this year it was portal 2 and journey. and now hotline miami too.
