Does Adam Jensen have a shiny metal ass? An incredible revelation. He was shot in the front, clearly no justification to replace his ass. They sent him to the ass replacer for NOTHING.

On a podcast today I heard about character responses not only seeing lethal vs non-lethal, but actually non-lethal vs ghosting as well, which is a rad improvement. Ugh, conflicting desire and avoidance. Good thing I have no money for gamez.

There's no reason to stealth your way through the game at some point, there's just no way to do it without plowing your way through with cloak. The level design ceases to be any fun and just becomes a straight line for you to sprint through, with the occasional vent to hide in. Even then, it throws robots in there suddenly (good game design!), and cloak becomes useless. It's just a chore to try and play through. I'm not sure if I'll even get to the end of this game before I burn out.

EDIT: lol, the next mission instantly put everyone on alarm. good idea in a stealth game. This game is Invisible War 2.

Are they tiny spider bots, because they're getting closer to Deus Ex 1 in time and that game had tiny spider bots guarding the vents sometimes.

I guess it's always scary but often necessary to go with black and white answers: he did actually say in an interview that you could meet other players if you happened to be in the same place, it's not just his comment on 'don't look at it as a MP game' that built that particular hype, but carefulness and experience should have pushed him to say 'our plan is to...' so it at least doesn't seem like a flat out lie when the game comes out. That said, I just think people are being stupid just once more, and it's all about the hype they project onto the game that was never viable.

Like the director of Deus Ex Mankind Divided was quoted a few years back saying that bad PC ports were a disgrace and an insult to PC gamers and then they ship a broken ass PC port, but I don't see the internet up in arms because I don't think too many people were fantasizing about having a good PC port for the last couple of years.

I think definitely the game would've had a beta or early access if it was an independent PC launch instead of a console game, and that would've really helped with some of these things, like realizing that you need to include the VC++ and DirectX installers for edge cases

Weird that the Deus Ex guy would say that because they outsourced their PC port to Nixxes, lol

I saw there was a preorder bonus mission, at least from Gamestop, no idea if it's good/worthwhile though. Fundamentally, locking actual gameplay behind preorders like that bugs the hell out of me, way more than weapon skins. Fallout: New Vegas had a bunch of OP weapons as preorder bonuses depending on where you ordered it, added into the game as DLC later, so now whenever I start a new game I'm instantly overweight and have to dump a bunch of garbage on the ground, lol.

4 hours ago, DrywallDreams said: People are getting "triggered" (remember when that word meant something?) because the references to real world events and groups are ham-fisted.

The "Augs Lives Matter" thing isn't even a decent parallel. Consider that they're comparing the fictional augs that killed 50 million people to a real group that closed a few roads with protests due to real people getting killed by police.

And this isn't the only time they've done that, remember that they also refer to the events of the game as the "mechanical apartheid". It's as if they don't trust the player to understand that they're trying to show that the augs are to represent real oppressed groups. It's like when a political cartoon feels the need to label literally everything.

The use of these references also trivializes the actual things. BLM is protesting shootings that happen almost weekly at this point, the effects of apartheid are still seen today. For a game to come along and say "that's pretty much what's happening to our fictional people with robot limbs" is lame.

I'll have to see where the story has to go, so far it hasn't been positive (in the part I just finished, they actually called the oppression of augs 'racism'...), but from what I've heard, it doesn't even make a point with all of this. I suppose I'll probably say some more about it once I'm done.

Exactly! It's not that we're reading too much into DX's aug situation, it's that they're insultingly trying to generalize it to a bunch of real world issues with references like "Augs Lives Matters" and "Mechanical Apartheid", and in doing so are insulting a bunch of already marginalized people by comparing them to cyborgs who are actually dangerous and superhuman. Eidos Montreal is being way too clumsy when touching on these issues that lead to people getting killed for real, and so they should avoid them if they're not going to invest in consciously getting better at them. Hiring a writer who knows not to compare cyborgs who can turn invisible and shrug off bullets with minorities who are frequently accused of sneaking around to rob people and whom doctors and cops assume have a natural pain tolerance greater than white people would be a good start.

You can tell a story about oppression and intolerance using cyborgs or elves or whatever. It's intellectually lazy, but plenty of fiction gets away with it, just look at The Witcher. You'll notice The Witcher 3 didn't have any promo art of elves protesting and holding banners saying "Elven Lives Matter!"

According to the lore, this event was actually triggered by Hugh Darrow, when he invited VIP's to the Panchaea's grand opening, the final level of DX:HR. Darrow's a member of the Illuminati and he takes a anti-augmentations stance, he always wished for it to be severe restrictions on this technology, so he came up with the plan of altering a chip that every aug had on him/her, he views his altered biochip as a way to change the public's attitude on augmentations. And of course, the plan spiraled out of control when so many people died, but hey... it worked.

What I'm basically trying to say here is that it's not that black and white, the writers are not that stupid -- both sides (augs and purists) have different motivations, but in that specific case, the 50 million people genocide was actually caused by an "anti-aug" purist, not the augs per-se, it was not their fault!

You fell right onto the writers trap, this among other things is why this franchise is so god damn good!

    PS, some bedtime reading:http://deusex.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

I know all that, dude. I'm talking about how the allusions they draw to connect the augs situation and the real world situation are really poorly thought out and insulting, because real oppressed groups can't be mind controlled into killing 50 MILLION PEOPLE, so there's no justification to be afraid of them and stick them in ghettos.

So I was already disturbed that they're using augs as a stand-in for oppressed minorities when augs are actually really dangerous and vulnerable to hacking that makes them into killing machines, but according to the Feminist Frequency review of the game it's even worse than I expected, because the climax of DXHR killed FIFTY MILLION PEOPLE according to DXMD, just two years before this game's events. LMAO you'd have to be crazy to not be terrified of augs. It's not prejudice if this group KILLED 50 MILLION PEOPLE INVOLUNTARILY JUST TWO YEARS PRIOR. This stupid ass premise implicitly legitimizes racism, wtf were they thinking connecting it to BLM and shit like that? So, so dumb.

    ...50 Million people! Jesus!

...still gonna play it. But I'm definitely gonna mock this boneheaded stupid ass world building. 50 million people, Christ.

I just a had a round where I was playing as 5-man team, yet that one random was enough to ruin the game. That player did absolutely nothing, besides walking around and feeding to enemies. In the last 30sec, s/he switched to Bastion and shot one magazine. I'm not kidding. Votekick should be there for these kind of situations. Sucks to play overall a pretty good round otherwise, close to victory where that one player at least shooting to general direction would help a lot, yet losing because it didn't happen. So many mentally incapable players in this game

    :(

I can definitely see why they kept it out, because of how terribly it's abused in Source games, infamously.

Blizzard seem to have very intentionally set themselves up as the anti-Valve with Overwatch, as they seem to have instead significantly invested in large customer support and moderation. According to the documents in this article on a person actually getting indicted for the violent threats he engaged in after getting banned by Blizzard, the response time from Blizz from report to global mute for this guy being a Nazi in game was less than eight hours (quickly upgraded to a ban due to his response), and then four days time for the FBI to serve a search warrant on his home in response to him talking about showing up at Blizzard's offices with an AK, among other things.

The Rock Paper Shotgun podcast Crate and Crowbar had a discussion wondering if it was because the game was tied to a big publisher like Sony that it was a non-EA, $60 product instead of the PC early access game it seems like it should be. The marketing push definitely seemed to be oriented around a big splash that was incompatible with beta testing allowing large groups of people significant play time before the official release.

This gallery demonstrates the current broke ass state of Hanzo's arrows. Literally visibly hitting characters in the waist and registering as headshots. This is definitely something more than a revert to old hitboxes, some new bug must've been introduced to Hanzo with the arrow buffs or something.

Seeing lots of people talk about how the lesson from No Man's Sky should be to speak less about your game in development, which is frustrating. The problem isn't that they said too much (they did), but that they didn't tell people about how it was backpedaled before release. I doubt Sony would've let them give "bad" news, of course, but they could've done it implicitly with gameplay videos of the actual release version, instead of having people find these changes after buying the game and make scoops and controversies out of them.

It doesn't feel like many people at all are playing the PTR, based on matchmaking time versus the live game. 2+ minutes, versus ten seconds, in my experience. Hope this doesn't lead to a lack of adjustment on some of the patch features, like making Hanzos capable of instakilling you around corners due to the combo of increased speed and size of arrows.

lmao, so it is. These icons are so poorly designed! Silver, Plat, and Diamond all look way too similar, and it took an annoying amount of work to actually find the icons all next to each other to compare. Next to each other I can see how they develop in complexity, but in a tiny little quarter inch box on my screen next to a screen name and without context they might as well be identical.

The Hanzo buff + projectile hitbox reversal is too much. I watched multiple kill cams of the Hanzo instakilling me from full health (thus getting a headshot on me?) while I was 100% invisible to him around a corner. Can't even contribute to lag, just somehow the arrow hitting my extra hitbox radius around the corner without needing line of sight. And getting headshots and thus instakills. Multiple times per match. I won 5, lost 5 in my placement matches, and every loss was directly attributable to a Hanzo fucking everyone up constantly somehow.

Also I think ult charge timing might've gotten bugged and charging faster in some instances, because in one game there was an enemy Genji literally going <20 seconds between his ults, even though he wasn't playing well at all. Kept rushing into the point, We'd kill him, he'd respawn, rush in again, ult, die anyway, repeat. Every other life, an ult. Maybe the PTR is full of hackers somehow, but it seems more likely shit's just a bit fucked. Hopefully it settles out soon.

I got 2599, Silver league, btw. Very disappointed, my season 1 placement was way better :(
