I got Kane and Lynch 1 on PC and it randomly makes my keyboard unresponsive and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Urgh.

Also the environmental lighting looks really, really bad. Reminds me of Blood Money on minimum except that I set K&L to all max.

    Edit:

@ OP: Americans... Americans never change... they really take the concept of appointing a punching bag/scapegoat for the problems in their society way too far.

News is like that across the entire western world, haven't you ever watched Newswipe?

Well then maybe it's just that it's smaller than fullscreen. Or that it's a still image. In motion the game looks better than anything I've ever seen before on my computer. And I watched UP on Netflix last month.

Didn't do a whole lot when just running around, except made the game hitch a bit for the first 30 seconds of gameplay as it streamed in more stuff, but once I moved forward ten minutes and found a river I saw all the new benefits. Wow. Only visual misstep I've seen so far: I killed a dude in that same river, and instead of making the water red he just left a blood decal on the sand at the bottom of the river. Surely having a dude bleed into water isn't any more visually demanding than, say, a smoke grenade, right?

I got the card today, installed it, had a false start due to skyrocketing CPU temps (took the hsf off, scraped off the too much thermal paste, reapplied far less and that fixed it- important lesson learned about setting up computers). Installed and patched Crysis. Launched it, and clicked the automatic config button.

It defaulted to all "high". Max settings available in XP.

And it's sooo smooth. And it looks sooo good. Holy christ. Best engine ever.

This is on a Pentium Dual Core 2.6Ghz, 2GB DDR2, 512MB LeadTek Geforce 8800GT. A machine comprised of $220 and some hand-me-down parts. I think it's running in about the 25-30FPS range (couldn't find a show fps command, crysis's console doesn't have autocomplete like source and some other engines do, my one and only complaint I can think of for it right now), but with the motion blur it looks very nice and smooth, kinda low how movies can get away with 24 frames per second because every frame is blurred.

Really liked the part when they ran down a street and around a corner, and some guys hanging out at the corner in white shirts saw them running down the street with guns and fled down the street away/with them, with one of the guys tripping.

You can still build anything but normal sentries with The Gunslinger. It works like a wrench too!

Oh, I saw it replaced the wrench and got the impression that it made it so that it could only do what was explicitly listed. If it can still make the other stuff then great.

The SH parody nurses are fazed out after the first level for crazed firemen and flying welders and soldiers that look like they're right off an Iron Maiden album cover.

I hate the gunslinger on principle, anything that removes the engineer's ability to make teleporters and dispensers makes him a useless class that should be replaced by another soldier or demo or something.

What impressed me is th e amount of information people were able to find on the blizzard guy when he gave his name (if it was his name) Family, address, phone number, pictures. Kinda scary what people can find when they know your name on the internet.

This is perhaps less a damnation of the RealID and more of posting your entire life details up to SSN on your facebook, and of creepy ass internet stalkers. The closest my real name has come to being on the internet in public was Twitter. I just posted my first name and initial attached to my account, and thought that was ok... then my dumbass older brother found me, followed me, with his full name as his screen name, and started tweeting about how much his life sucks. Family ruins everything.

Nobody forces you to post on the Blizzard forums, and the Blizzard forums are a giant fucking cesspool and those posters have abused their privilege of posting on the Blizzard forums and this is a response to that. Don't want posters on the Blizzard Forums to see your RealID? Don't post! I think this is a grand idea.

Also the poster of that blog entry is an example of exactly the sort of greater internet fuckwad that inspired the policy. "Look, this can be abused! *abuses it* See, it's a bad idea because people like me might exploit it!"
