Game graphics, you say? *obligatory Far Cry 2 reference*

Far Cry 2 is the best looking game because not only is it pretty as fuck, you can be snobby about liking it because most people don't!!

To be honest then I think the Easy difficulty should've been completely taken out of the game, and have Extreme be the new Hard. It's maybe a poor excuse, but playing through the game on Extreme you certainly can't complain that it's too short, and personally I think it makes it a lot more intense.

That would result in a lot more frustrated players I think. On Medium I had a lot of deaths that felt unfair. In KL1 you couldn't just die outright, you had the 'extra lives' of adrenaline shots, but in this game if a guy gets up close to you you're just dropped nearly instantly, even if they only have a pistol or small smg, because it seems like all the guns are super damaging, relying on inaccuracy to balance them. The accurate guns (deagle, the semi-auto rifle a few of the military units drop) are all one shot kills. Maybe if the "down but not out" thing was a guaranteed buffer between you and death whenever you take a lot of damage, so there was some forgiveness there for mistakes, or if the checkpoints were more generous.

Beat Infamous 2. I was hoping for a new game+ mode, considering they put in so much incentive to play twice, but instead I get free roam, when I've already done everything except two hidden package missions off in the middle of nowhere. Think I'll hold off playing through Evil for some time later. Got RFG to beat, and a friend and I are playing RE5 coop tonight.

But it also doesn't have suspect stuff like the Official Xbox Magazine score in its favor.

Currently the PC version is the highest rated overall, with a 70 metacritic score. I wonder if it hurts to have the version that was outsourced do best. >_>

I rented it (promising to myself I'll buy it the first time it gets a steam sale for the multiplayer). Beat it in four hours. Those were mostly a fun four hours, except for the BS deaths whenever a guy you didn't see gets within ten feet of you and instakills you, knocking back to the last checkpoint that could be as far as three or four minutes back, maybe even before an in-engine cutscene. Ending was very cool, but I feel like it needed more time to revel in that coolness- after the final bit of gameplay you get like four seconds of cutscene and then credits. Not even an ending voice mail or something along those lines. Or even the

    plane flying away

behind the credits. Not a big deal, but I would've appreciated it.

Infamous is really fun. I've pretty much been playing it nonstop today >_> There are some control issues, Cole's a bit too sticky with trying to grab shit when I just want to drop down to street level or something (holding the drop button should turn that parkour auto-aim off), and occasionally it's done weird stuff like I'd jump on a pole and teleport to the other side of it, sticking half through a building, and one time the camera got stuck unendingly rotating around me from below until I jumped off the train track post I had hopped on, but mostly everything's been cool. Going around exploring, trying to get combos using the electric grenades, and throwing people off high places is very entertaining. I discovered a few hours in that if you walk into a puddle someone else is standing in, you'll instakill them. Whoops!

Video review on GB by Jeff Gerstmann. Summary is "Amazing game... with not enough content to be worth buying over renting". Sorry IO

Wish there was a way for games to be rented that doesn't screw over the devs. I can get a movie off Netflix and not feel bad about it but if I rent KL2 instead of buying it, that's nothing for the makers

Yeah, just judging by the demo every complaint about KL2 I had with KL1 except for the stealth section was completely gone (the stealth section is tbd- haven't heard anything about it from people who have played the whole game). Bullets come out of the camera now instead of your character's weapon, so you don't end up shooting up your cover when your crosshair is clearly on a dude you want to shoot, and that change alone makes KL2 at least, like, three times better.

a bug that makes the game lag when you kill someone ? D: thats HORRIBLE how could this slip ?i hope this will not be counted in the meta critic average:

i doubt this guy has actually launched the game he is just still bitter from the first game for some reason !

Metacritic doesn't ignore dumb reviews, there are reviews of Deus Ex at the bottom of the scale like DURR THIS GAME BLOWS WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG TO KILL EVERYBODY WHY CAN'T I RUN AND GUN

That same reviewer at dtoid gave Deadly Premonition a 10/10

Edit: Ugh, I hate that writing style most game blogs have these days. "Did we love the game or is it a massive terrible pile of shit on a disc? CLICK THE LINK AND FIND OUT" on every single article. Such terrible writing.

I personally can't tell the difference unless it's changing live in front of me. I thought Crysis was running at at least like 45-50FPS running around the first few levels because it looked smooth to me, and then I turn on FRAPS and it's like 25FPS average Now, if a 60FPS game drops to 25FPS because lots of stuff is going on or you stare into a HoM or something, then yes, that is noticeable. But, say theoretically, you took two groups of random people, and sat them down in front of a game, with one group seeing the game with an artificial 30fps limit, and the other with 60fps, and ask them what they thought of performance, the 30fps group is not gonna complain compared to 60fps group. If you let them play it then some people will notice, but not many, more if you use a first person game, but still, I think the majority of the group would be entirely unmoved by the difference.

I hope you're working on the PC version of crysis 2 then chris.

I was under the impression that Crytek in general was working on crysis 2, with porting duties on the guys who have actually worked on consoles before, the timesplitters guys.

Edit: Actually nvm, because remember those initial Cryengine 3 videos where they showed off the game running on all three platforms at once with edits in the editor effecting all three? Doesn't seem like non-tech guys need to worry about individual platforms, which is awesome.

idtech5's editor is supposed to do the same thing, shame they're not licensing it. Hope they still release an sdk with rage though.

60fps > everything else .... on the importance scale !

Most people can't even tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps unless you switch back between them live. Insomniac announced they've given up on 60fps as a pointless goal that earns them nothing and costs extra visual detail.

Not that texture resolution is a big framerate thing, it's normally a yes/no sort of thing. Do you fit your memory budget? Ok. Not? fffffffffff

At least they don't have blocky shadows. I've had it up to here with that shit. I was playing Silent Hill 5 today and took this screenshot:

And that's at max settings on PC! [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif] Abysmal. Completely unforgivable.

Ouch, I've heard it's got problems but luckily it's worked fine for me. I'm only in world 3 though. Hopefully they'll patch it.

World 4 is where ingame stuff started to happen to me. That's where I quit last night after the game got stuck on a screen with all the enemies dead refusing to let me progress. Some other people have said that there's an enemy stuck somewhere offscreen and occasionally you got through going up and down the edges and punching to try and catch him, but that didn't work for me.
