I'm praying that the reactor doesn't explode... it doesn't bare thinking about what would happen if that occured.. *shudder*

It's not going to explode. Hydrogen gas might explode, except that there's no longer a roof to keep it in so it builds up. The bad thing with the reactor is it melting into a big solid uranium puddle in the bottom of the reactor, which would be pretty difficult to cool and impossible to fix, so they'd just bury it in a sarcophagus. This isn't very likely of happening either. The main thing they're worried about is the spent fuel rod pools becoming dry, resulting in the spent fuel rods overheating, which would oxidize the rods and release a bunch of scary radiation.

Kane and Lynch 2's was worse imo. Dark magic glowing hands and shit in that game.

My computer that was only so-so at running BF1942 wasn't replaced until about a year after BF2142. Wasn't really an option.

Do people still play BF2? I skipped from BF42 to BC2. (god so many 2s in this series)

Anyone else get in the Battlefield Play 4 Free beta? I haven't heard or seen anyone talking about it except for a post on RPS that it exists. I tried reading over the usage agreement to see if it's got a strict NDA or something, and while it very well might, as the best I could decipher the legalese it strictly limited me sharing the game, not talking about it.

First impression: It's a Beta. Like, super beta. Almost alpha beta.

Edit: Looked again and it looks like we are indeed forbidden from talking about it. Good thing I was vague!

I would like to say Bravo to the folks at the Fukushima plant. Flooding, explosions, power outages, fires, just about everything that can possibly go wrong, and so far they're keeping the environmental impact as low as possible (WAY below what it could have been!). Speaks to the safety measures in those plants. I can't imagine the stress everyone there must be under right now. It sounds like basically all their reactors are FUBAR, likely won't be usable for decades, if ever.On a related note, I just flew in to Oswego, NY, and will be getting my first glimpse of a nuke plant tomorrow

The reactors effected won't ever be used, they're completely ruined. There were maybe a slim chance to recover them possibly when everything started, but once they pour seawater in them, they're fubar. The stuff in there is super delicate and sensitive, and salt water is corrosive.

I agree though, the Fukushima plants have impressed me. It's not every day you can say your building smugly shrugged off the fourth strongest earthquake in history, with the only issues caused by a 20 foot wall of water knocking out the infrastructure managing the cooling systems.

Also is it just me, or are all the people across the world not in Japan who focus 100% on "OMG WE'RE IN DANGER! BUY UP ALL THE IODINE CONSTANTLY REFERENCE CHERNOBYL BOARD UP YOUR WINDOWS" coming off as really super self-centered and callous? Thousands of people have died, there are people working inside those power plants, and so many people are concerned only for themselves due to completely ridiculous chicken little statements being spread around. Even news sources I normally trust like Rachel Maddow on MSNBC, and NPR, have been going all "CHERNOBYL!" and "RADIATION IS THE WORST THING ON EARTH!" and "SCARY SOUNDING HYPOTHETICAL ABOUT THREAT TO AMERICANS!" and "NEGATIVE ASPERSIONS ON ALL NUCLEAR POWER PRODUCTION WORLDWIDE!" Because Lord knows, we could sure use some more fucking coal and natural gas plants shitting up the Earth.

That was a serious post. The Most Serious Post.

Once you get the pistol slot grenade launcher, 90% of Far Cry 2's problems just float away, leaving a fun brutal FPS in an open world jungle. It doesn't fix the sadly repetitive mission structure or how badly it sucks to get run over, but nothing's perfect, right?

I got my silver star with the knife tonight in BC2. Fun times. I also got the eight kill streak medal for the first time. Not on the same runs, though. The killstreak was due to being assault, dropping ammo at my feet, and spamming the grenade launcher into a choke between the flag I was holding from an attic and the enemy spawn.

I also got the red dot sight for recon, which, on the semi-auto inaccurate sniper rifle, feels pretty good.

ME2 had way better DLC. ME1's was BS. A super unspecial event on a moon, noteworthy only for introducing the Batarians from ME2, and some challenge levels? Blah. ME2's Kasumi, Shadow Broker, Overlord, etc. were way better extra missions. Kasumi was one of my favorite squad members, and her spy action loyalty mission owned.

Also I got a cool new hat.

An email link is going to get infinitely fewer responses than a url, because it takes more impulse on their part to respond to you. Even if you want that freeform response, have it as a comment box at a url or something.

That doesn't make it the better game.

No, being able to play without having my squad acting like idiots on the default tactics, without worrying about friendly fire due to my squad acting like idiots (Enemy currently in the middle of a burning field of oil, beneath a tempest? I'D BETTER RUN IN THERE AND MAKE SURE HE'S ULTRA DEAD), having a decent game challenge not based on me accidentally killing my own guys or needing to micromanage them every two seconds, more interesting environmental design, a WAY faster pace, and being able to interrupt a melodramatic elf's tale of peril to hit on him while my dwarf friend looks on in admiration is what makes it a better game. The moments where you pause and look at the special effects is just icing.

Anyway, regardless of that stuff (except one), I don't really play Bioware's games for the gameplay. Mass Effect as a shooter series is a really mediocre shooter series, although ME2's Vanguard stuff goes a pretty decent distance to fix that. Dragon Age as a western RPG was annoyingly fiddly and with a pointless tactics system replacing respectable NPC AI, though Dragon Age 2 goes some distance to fix that by making making your squad take care of itself better. But no, as far as gameplay goes I could list a dozen games I'd rather be playing. I play Bioware's games for the writing. They could make a talking simulator where you do nothing but talk to people, and I'd play it. That's what I'm here for, those moments where Merril asks Carver about "Swording", or asks Aveline how come she never arrests us even when we break the law, or when Varrus makes fun of Carver for not being Me. Dragon Age 2's gameplay gets in my way of that content a lot less than DA1's did, and as far as I'm concerned that's a big improvement.

Do you really judge a game's quality on how much it may or may not appeal to grognards? Personally I like a little bit of streamline in my PC game. Makes it run better, I've heard, and you know I'm all about that.

Also the moments where you pause and pan the camera around to look at the pretty particle effects and gore and animation poses are way better in DA2 than DA1.

Yes I've been saying to my mates that it is just mass effect 2 with elves.

And I'm loving it. I just got the elf mage in my squad, and have been wandering about Lowtown listening to my team talk to each other, having a good time.

Jeez guys, come on. Have you no culture? It's clearly inspired by cheapo sci-fi novel covers. Just look at the concept art in the wallpaper posted on their site:
