I can't afford anything. The Binding of Isaac at $5 was a stretch of my budget. BF3's free beta was a stretch of my budget.

(It doesn't help that I bought Rage on my ipod and it was fucking TERRIBLE. Tilt to aim, urgghhh. What a bad idea. The worst idea.)

Played some more, had a better time. Turned down all the settings, just about, to their minimums, after this time launching fraps before the game and seeing that it was running at 15FPS. Now it runs at 30FPS, which I guess makes sense given the stated minimum requirement of an 8800GT, which is roughly similar in performance to my 4670. Got back into the Battlefield Groove alright, even got the "Squad Wipe" ribbon for killing a whole squad of dudes. Unfortunately, I was SO in that groove that I kept playing for about four rounds, and hit a really goddamn nasty memory leak by the feel of it. Started with audio stuttering, then the whole game stuttering and just being terrible. Since I was carrying my team up until that point that round took forever to end, too...

Also in front of the A M-COM on the first set of objectives, I fell through the ground once, and I saw an enemy do the same on the killcam after he had shot me. It's a dip or crater or something in the pavement, and we both just kinda slipped through it and ended up neck deep in the concrete. You can jump and wiggle and manage to get out though, at least.

Got around to playing the beta. Didn't have fun. I had control lag, and there was no audio at all except extremely quiet gunfire. Most of the time I died it was far too quick to react to being fired upon, and vice versa it didn't really feel that satisfying to gun down someone else because it just kinda felt like they had unluckily wandered somewhere I could see. Also I just kinda missed all my options and unlocks from Bad Company 2. Gonna go back to playing Binding of Isaac now...

I got it through the origin client without too much hassle. Already 6% downloaded in the last couple minutes, too. Getting 3.2MBps.

    Dungeon Raid.

I have spent more time playing this game than just about everything else combined, including new stuff I've just bought, like Dungeons of Dredmore.

I ran the system check thing for beta access (because why not) and the check somehow got the impression I have 2.74GB of vram, lol.

I may not be in the Diablo 3 beta, but at least I can console myself with my invite to the Gotham City Imposters closed beta (whenever that starts). Except unlike Blizzard, Monolith/WB's NDA is so strict you can't even post screenshots on their private beta forums to show off issues or whatever. You can pretty much literally do nothing but play it and submit bug reports directly >_>

Yeah Boardwalk Empire isn't about action, it's focused on (for lack of a better term) immersion in prohibition era atlantic city. I found the pilot and all the following episodes all fantastic due to the music and atmosphere that everything was accompanied by. I want a Boardwalk Empire OST to import into Fallout

Latest BB and first episode of Boardwalk Empire season 2. Both utterly amazing.

Oh man I forgot Boardwalk Empire was starting up again! *goes to find a way to watch immediately*

Oh my god tonight's episode of Breaking Bad. There are two more episodes of the season after that, and one more apparently short season after that. If I hadn't heard all the internal squabbling about the final season's funding right now I'd be thinking it was actually a fakeout to make people think the show was going to keep going past this season when this finale is actually meant for the series. That's how fucked up shit is right now.

Oh and something I thought of/realized: When you guys do implement analog controls for keyboard and mouse (and you'd fucking better or I'll burn down scandinavia to get whatever country it is you're from I don't remember), don't do the "swipe in one direction to set a source, swipe another to set the destination for the swing" thing that the gamepad controls have. That's needed because any movement of a joystick is either radiating out from the center or tracing the outer edge bounds of the stick in a circle. On a mouse I can just directly draw the fucking line I want. Hell, I can draw curves and spirals and shit. If I want to pull off some zorro bullshit on a zombie and have one swing remove all five limbs at once, and my RPG shit's good enough, I should be allowed to. This would make the system FAR more responsive and less retarded like it is now (I tried the analog controls for a couple play sessions and they were awful and like three times slower than digital due to how tedious aiming each swing was).

I found my car again, back where it initially spawned, with the four boxes of juice in the back. Then when I turned in the quest I could only hand over two, and the other two became permanently affixed to the truck bed and I had to abandon it for a new vehicle. gj techland

(I just spent like four hours straight playing this game tho)

Goddamnit. I was doing a main quest to collect juice, and had it all in my car, and parked at a bunker very near the starting bungalow to check out a sidequest, went through an insta-travel point inside the bunker and ended up in a pointless dead end bunker somewhere else in the map, returned to the original bunker... and my fucking car and all the juice despawned.

There is one thing about DXHR's bossfights I REALLY like: The shit they scatter around the arenas for supplies in case you went into the boss fight weak and pitiful don't despawn after the fight like they do in 99.9% of games with boss fights and items in boss fight arenas. You can focus on killing the boss and restock AFTER. That's great.

I'm really confused as to how so many games (Dead Island is not the first by a long shot, nor will it be the last) ship this generation with always on, completely unconfigurable voice chat. I realize ppt is less reasonable on a controller, but it's trivial on PC, and always-on is awful in comparison, and I would literally prefer a game have no internal support for voice at all than always on voip, because with Dead island the way it is now I can't even just use mumble, because then my voice gets transmitted in duplicate to my friends. While this issue might not be quite so obvious to the testers, who all have standardized mics and no yelling moms or fans blowing directly on them or food in their mouths, but out in the wild of a release game it falls apart horribly, and I would expect history to teach all games to follow not to forget to put in some fucking options for voice.

Despite how he made the criticisms (I lolled) he's right about them. I've stopped playing the game entirely until the next patch (SUPPOSEDLY there actually is one coming). I really want to like Dead Island, I do. I just really don't want to deal with the experience ruining shit like the always on voip, when I've got lots of other stuff to play.
