Playing LA Noire, and ugh, man, this game is nowhere near as good as it could be, and it seems mostly because they wanted to make the game shallowly "GTA-esque" to suit the Rockstar logo on the box. The driving adds nothing to the experience, and the controls on foot are not at ALL conductive to minute movements when exploring a crime scene. I spent like two minutes a moment ago wandering back and forth across an object I saw on the ground before I could get Cole to stand in the right spot to let me investigate it (and it was just trash after all, too

You probably should've made those posts before I impulse purchased the game last night!

Man, this season's getting so many impulse game purchases from me. In the last two days, I've bought Deus Ex HR, Bully, and Brink...

I've been playing too much saints row to play skyrim

I occasionally casually pirate games that I don't REALLY want to play, but want to at least dabble in to take part in the overall gamer conversation and see what they're about, like the COD games. I played MW3 up until they laughably attempted to make controversy in the UK level, and quit, and I don't really feel like I owe Activision any money for that. I'd probably buy these games or ignore them at all if my budget was bigger, because then I'd have more work to make that extra disposable income and I wouldn't be wasting time playing tripe to get the context of videogame discussions.

Games I actually want though, like BF3 and Saints Row, I buy. This month has been super expensive. I actually wanted to upgrade my hardware but couldn't afford it yet because VIDEOGAMES. Thankfully all three of those run ok with settings turned down. Saints Row had some stutter issues until I edited the ini to turn off motion blur, but after that it's just fine. Also coop, fuck yeah!

I download Doctor Who because I don't know of any station I get with my RCN package that airs the current episodes, especially not on time. I've actually downloaded some of the older stuff, like the 2006/7 seasons, even though I have legit access to them through Netflix streaming, so I can put them offline on my ipod

Related to the topic of piracy:
http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/07/opini ... of-reason/
QuoteRecently, Ubisoft called its “always-on” DRM a success, claiming “a clear reduction in piracy.”In terms of actual sales, however, the results seem decidedly mixed. Michael Pachter told Eurogamer that Ubisoft’s “PC game sales are down 90% without a corresponding lift in console sales.”
Pachter framed the problem in terms of piracy, as I’m sure Ubisoft frames the problem, but a 90% decline in PC sales is a catastrophic number. If piracy were the problem, then their “successful” DRM policy should have prevented such a free-fall.
Instead, PC gamers have stopped buying Ubisoft games. In fact, the decline of sales even calls into question the decline in piracy rates. All we know for sure is that Ubisoft have stopped people from playing their games. Full stop.

My next card is going to be ATI, as much I really don't want it to be. But Nvidia just does not offer ANY decent quality cards with a single or less pin PCI-E power requirements. All their 256-bit cards need two, and my 400w Corsair only has one. So if I want a good card without having to replace my entire PSU (which would be a nightmare of work, seriously), I have to get the Radeon HD6850, which is ~$140, 256-bit, roughly equal to a GT460 in power, but only needs one power connection.
Wait, so you think that missing textures, uv's behaving weirdly and overall a massive cluster fuck of graphical bugs in all your games (You get it to work on one game, but its broken in another, and then when you find some drivers for that game its breaks in all the others and this continues on until your card dies) constitutes a decent quality card?
Dude wtf

point is; go for a less "decent specs" nvidia card. In the long run you'll be a happier person.
The best Geforce card for sale that's 256-bit or better, and is low power enough for my system, is a GTX250, which is a rebranded Geforce 9800GTX, which is somewhat better than my 4670 but not even half as good as a HD6850, which is roughly equal (or occasionally better) than a GTX460, which is not only more expensive, but would require a $70-ish power supply purchase and the complete disassembly and reassembly of my computer to replace the PSU.
Dealing with the Catalyst issues is slightly better than dealing with the performance issues of a low quality Geforce.

This is why you don't buy ATI gfx cards

Also, every time im standing with a tank in my facing holding the e key and watching what looks like a load bar I always gets reminded of a Hacker News post that read something like "dont make your users do shit work". The article described how google plus was doomed to fail because the first think you had to do was shit work (arranging your friends), whereas on facebook it automatically just made relevant groups for you that was good enough. And I cant help but think that having a huge green blob in my face (that eventually just leaves me, not caring if i helped it or not) and watching a load bar that I myself can only fill up by just holding e is kind of... shit work... not game play at all.
This is why repairing a helicopter while riding in the back feels so good, it almost seems naughty, like you're breaking the rules instead of doing a task you've obviously been explicitly allowed.
I get all the benefits from being in a helicopter, while still giving back, unlike repairing ground vehicles, where you're all give, and no receive. Most of the time the drivers don't even realize you're there, their tank health regens on its own (this is somehow even more ridiculous than dude regen, and I can't quite articulate why, except to feel like a sperg for even trying), so their health bar going up is a pretty standard, ignorable thing. DICE should allow you to at least sit on the outside of the tanks and ride around on them, like in Halo. That'd give squad members a place to spawn on tank driving teammates that already have a gunner, too, instead of denying them that spawn point entirely (which strikes me as a very lazy decision).Trying to snipe is funny. I'm serving a legit purpose for my team purely by spotting, which gets me almost nothing as far as points go, but as far as trying to actually kill people I can land maybe two or three kills a match, since everyone's always moving, which doesn't really combine well with bullet drop and travel time and how much of an anti-sniper I am, skill-wise. I just played a long Seinne game hidden on the third floor of a ruined building in the dark, where I could see the RU spawn, spamming Q on newly spawned russians and occasionally taking pot shots which just mostly got me killed, and then respawning at my beacon sitting next to me. Tons and tons of spot assists, though. Spot assists like nobody's business. Spot assists out the ass.

I love being in jeeps and running people over, it's my favorite vehicle. Tanks are supposedly powerful but teammates tend to go "Oh that tank right in the middle of our front at the point closest to the enemy can handle itself, best stay far away from it and assume it can kill everything", and then when I need to get out to repair damage I get ganked. I don't ever bother to repair jeeps, though, so

-
I can't figure out how you're supposed to accomplish anything in a jet worth points enough to get the upgrades that the other people flying jets use to swat you from the sky without effort. I don't even have flares...
