  • What have you watched recently?

    I watched three movies this week:

    - Taxi Driver. Meh, could have been better. I didn't like the music used in the movie and I felt it was too long and the finale was pretty underwhelming. Great performance though.

    - Stalker. Really great, the actors are very good and the movie is very dream-like. I felt that the first part was better than the second part though. Difficult movie to grasp but I really dig it.

    - Hard Candy. Not bad at all! Patrick Wilson and dat Ellen Page are great. The movie is a bit too long though and could have been more interesting if

    Watching that piece of shit of a show was a real chore, and I thought that trailer made the game look like crap. I'm definitely not a fan of the post-MGS3 games.

  • STALKER devs closed down?

    It's a fucking shame and a fucking waste of potential. STALKER 2 was, with Dishonored and Diablo 3, the only game I was looking forward to in 2012. GSC joins Bullfrog and Looking Glass in the limbo of developers that died too young despite having never made a single bad nor average game.

  • "Modern Warfare 3" ??

    Heh, I wouldn't be as violent as Rick, but he really summed-up how I feel about those blockbuster games in general.

    Nowadays I just spend time playing oldies because not a lot of the so-called next-gen games have reached their level yet. DX:HR and Skyrim being the first exceptions that come to my mind.

  • GameTrailers - Level

    There was definitely an Apache on the dam level. What I always remember from HL first is Xen, I really, truly loved the shit out of this part of the game. The cliff section was pretty cool too, I wish it was a bit longer.

    On to the HL/HL2 debate, I think I love them both as much. They are different in both gameplay and artistic direction, but they both gave me an intense gaming experience. I strongly disliked HL2 at first, but I have come to love it. I just wish it was more faithful to its original design though, that was way darker and more hostile. I always have stars in my eyes when I read passages from the Air Exchange or the original post-soviet, dark and vertical City 17 design.

    I won't hide the fact I download music quite a lot, and when I love what I hear I order it on vinyl right away and go to the bands' gigs when they come to France, and I also buy some stuff from their merchandise. I still have a lot of vinyls to buy though, but some day I'll have them all.

    I sometimes download series and movies but I haven't done that in quite some time now. The last series I downloaded was Game of Thrones because it isn't broadcasted in France yet.

    I haven't downloaded a single game in ages since I usually wait for the holidays when they are a lot cheaper, and this year I think my wallet will hate me as usual. On the other hand, when games are stuffed with DRM I don't bother and just pirate them if I absolutely want to play. Otherwise I just avoid them. Punishing the honest person who pays for the game with a shitload of DRM is really a bad move. I've always liked Valve's position on piracy/DRMs and I share their opinions on the matter, but yeah the 1$ = 1€ policy on Steam can be quite bothersome when the game is just released and you absolutely want it. On the other hand, for us developers, that policy is pretty good since we can make, erm, more money.
