OLD!
Quote from ThrikThere was hardly any news beyond the job postings, which we replaced with the much better recruitment forums. The spotlight was also rarely updated. All in all, the front page didn't receive much interest and took focus away from where the real activity is: the forums. Indeed, when you came across the front page before it was hardly even apparent there was a very active and fun community behind it — it was just a dull page that looked dead.MapCore isn't really a site IMO, and hasn't been for many years. It's a community, and so to me that seems like what should be on the front page. Why hide what the site really is behind a boring news page? It's best to keep the forums front and centre, show off the nice active community, etc. We might as well be honest with ourselves: MapCore is a community first, and possibly a news site second. It'll never be the other way round.
The general concept I had in mind was a fairly conventional forum listing on the front page much like we have now, but with the top area much more developed to include a spotlight section, a proper page menu, news headlines, etc. Similar to Interlopers but with more focus on the data coming from the forums themselves.
One idea I do like is basing news headlines on the gaming discussion forum. At the moment we have a cool mix of people posting various news-like threads and more generic gaming discussion, both of which usually generate nice discussion. I think it'd be good if mods could tick the best news-like threads and then they'd appear in the news headlines in a box at the top for everyone to see, thus kind of making everyone a news editor and ensuring news is frequent. An RSS feed and whatnot could be provided too. Perhaps people whose threads are picked often could receive a spotlight-like honour.
All ideas, anyway. I do think something can be done that everyone will be happy with, and I personally wouldn't want to see anything done that'd compromise what works pretty well right now so time needs to be taken to do it properly. If you have any things you'd like to see just post them here. The spotlight is an obvious thing everyone wants to see back.
Then we can try to atleast make better forums and improve the boards. New fonts and perhaps new theme for the forums.......
mapcore is better then interlopers . I think we should inmplement a rate this post system (as on youtube with the + and - thumps up)
just ideas
Quote from Senturai agree. it seems like a lot of people hang around just for the sake of hanging around rather than posting content. i'm not saying there shouldn't be a place for that too, but i'd rather have people talk about genuine game design rather than you've just had breakfast or that you bought a new pick for your bass. if you catch my drift.
but you read the threads LOL ![]()
and you say that it is not interesting when people tells what occurs in theirs life - it is merely one thread somewhere only 7 pages long
but that's not important...
but I agree.. too little discussions on the subject game design is take place here.
Just waken up and did my breakfast.......
I have this question here. I had this question for a long long time ago and I decided today is the right day to ask all:
WHY IS THE MAIN PAGE OF MAPCORE GONE. OUT?
What have happened? We could see NEWS and Spotligt maps but just now I see merely this forum for ever more, for all time and that's it.

Quote from kleinlukaSo....I unplugged a digital camera from my computer at home on the weekend (normal usb cable, nothing fancy). I didn’t see the little icon for “remove hardware safely” so I just unplugged it. Well, an hour later I got a blue screen and my computer restarted itself. Then it kept restarting itself every 10 minutes and now I get a blue screen whenever I boot and it re-starts itself before I even get into Windows. Sometimes I get a message “Disk read failure. Press Alt+Ctrl+Del to reboot computer”.I formatted my C drive yesterday and re-installed Windows and it’s still happening. Wtf? Is it possible that a simple USB device could corrupt my entire computer like that?
I’ll bring it back to the store today for repair but I wanted to see if you guys had any idea if it could have really been caused by unplugging the camera.
think logically, how can USB cable destroy computer? influence the bios? no, affect on motherboard hardware, no? you used software.. you know that only 5 V output (+ ground and 2 for data) in USB port cable can't influency a motherboard if you think the current goes of the cable four pins.. seriusly no, it wasn't the usb.
you could use the restore back computer alternative (why format c ?).. all drivers (USB TOO) would be restored back there where windows worked.
perhaps it was by mere accident your harddrives broke in that moment when you used USB cable connector.. it could be in worst horrible case a BOOT sector error, when the sector of the discs gets damaged inside the harddrive...
bluuscrens usually take place for example when wrong drivers are installed and other problems..
and lmao the technican.. ah... ![]()
honestly
looks so-so, not bad not good..
but looks boring.. as there is something that is missing in the map so the map would look original..
set a deadline so we should tknow when this should be done.
and :
- singleplayer map
- 20 min max on challange to win the map
- custom content allowed (as sounds, materials and models)
- escape: here some examples (exploding submarine, nuke reactor complex, plane that should explode / crash, war in vietnam and you as hostage must escape, space station in attack and so on.)
and give us sufficient with time so we can for let's say 2 months finish and advance in our works of projects..
and then afterwards all participating members send their maps and we do a final general election and the winner get honour .
btw, I would like to see materials and files bspzipped and NOT in folders = all material in the map file.
all you need now is beef cattles running around on the grass
so how was my day?
It was excellent I did not do much. I mapped alot for zombie panic you know my new map aha.
So hard to finish this map, everytimes I believe I am ready i'm far from finish the map.. ![]()
