So that's what Deus Ex would have been like with more than yellow .

This is looking like a buy for sure, I like the environment art, it does seem a little hectic in places though. The HUD taking up the whole bottom half of the screen would also get frustrating I'm sure.

I like that, and I was very impressed with that small test piece you did. Would be awesome to see it expanded on.

Is it true that the Russian area of Caspian Border is on fire?

Well yeah, kinda. There is a huge fire on their side of the border but it's outside the playable area, except for jets.

If you dig around people do release the odd bit here and there.

Jordan Walker recently released his Bathhouse Scene entry to the Polycount BRAWL contest, your friend can get it here

Thanks for the comments guys. Mushrooms are a great idea, and an obvious choice too . I'll find some other bits to help make the back side a little more interesting for sure.

As impressive as I've come to expect, It's gonna be good to get a chance to run around in it. Some of those shots looked a little dark to me, that may just be the effect of the bright surround/image size though.

This has been a 3 week project for me so far. The reason I started this project was to tackle a few “firsts” as far as my art pipeline and abilities are concerned. Up to this point I had never touched (in any real depth,) a 3D sculpting app, hand-painted stylised textures or done any work with a “fantasy” theme. So with those conditions in place I weighed up some options and eventually settled on creating an environment based upon a Victorian Graveyard. I was at first inspired by Games Workshops relatively recent Gardens of Morr scenery set, but my path has slowly diverged from this initial artistic spark.

At the moment I've assembled the pieces I have completed so far into something of a "Mini Scene," the idea of which is to test the direction I am heading in. This will also serve as a temporary demonstration of these new found abilities on my Portfolio while I work on creating a larger hopefully more impressive environment in the same style. I chose to also have my first experiment with the Marmoset Toolbag to present this piece, which I have decided is a fantastic bit of kit.

So enough blabber, here’s some artwork! First up is a turntable render straight from Marmoset, be sure to watch in HD:

Let me know what you think. Like I say, I plan for this to go in my portfolio so I'd like it to make as good an impression as is possible.

There are some WIP posts up on my (rather new) blog here: http://www.oggyart.com/blog and if anyone wants to know anything specific I’ll try my best to answer you. Thanks for your time.

I don't think I can say I've enjoyed reading Mikey's blog, but it's certainly very inspiring. I hope you're feeling better soon and that the Doctors can figure out something for you.

That looks really nice in all seriousness though. You could maybe benefit from a little more contrast in the lighting in the first couple of shots though.

I went to a talk from Tim Willits at the Eurogamer Expo, and he showed us that room. He also said there's Doom and Quake rooms to find, but they will be much harder.

So if I buy the "exlusive package" you get one of the crappy DE:HR bosses .

Though I'll probably play this, I like the games Starbreeze makes.

Those points you raised were some of the most complained about in the Alpha, as well as the utterly crap Squad system, I'm very surprised to see they got 0 attention for this beta.

I spent a lot of time yesterday playing Caspian Boarder. It was absolutely epic, everything I had hoped for. Even though we spent most of the time in separate squads me and my friends still managed to work together and pretty much dominate our team. I'm so pumped for the release of this game now, it couldn't come sooner .

I agree the terrain is too glossy, mix a light noisy normal map in to break up the smooth reflective surfaces a bit maybe. It's awesome though, could almost be a still from a film in it's composition. I'm itching to give his terrain tutorial a run-through myself some time.

Yeah, this is looking really good, much prefer the visuals over the previous version. It seems fairly unique which is also a big plus.

This is obviously posted by origin once he installed it. Now I dont want to install origin because this is a piece of shit marketing move and I hate EA for spamming my wall on fb with it. But I cant boycott origin, because I need to install it to play BF3.

It gives you the choice, sort of a "Welcome to Origin, why not invite your friends!" kind of message pops up. At least as far as I can remember, you don't have to click it of course.

Whew, just finished it, 37.4hours here. I did scour every place for the readable stuff, still managed to miss some of it though as I didn't get the achievement, which it at least showed a percentage of what I had picked up. Also didn't get pacifist, which I'm extremely confused about. I never touched a gun, or used the punch through wall when someone was on the other side just to be safe. Oh well, next play through I'm going guns blazing, so maybe I'll pick that one up on play through 3.

I agree with all the boss comments to an extent. I never got to the point of rage quitting, but without a doubt the worst bit's of the game for me. I loved exploring all the environments, can't remember the last game I found it so satisfying just to be existing in it's levels without worrying about any tangible gameplay.

Hipshot: Love it, it feels so gritty with that excellent texture work.

phantazm11: Your castle looks very grand which is good, but I can't help but feel it could benefit from some contrasting colour in the lighting. Maybe try a bit of purple lower down in the map.
