That looks really good for a start. Some tips i think work well while ive been making my TF2 textures.

The cutout filter works wonders if used correctly, even valve has used it in some of their textures. Id run the filter across the paint stripes you have, it helps simplify the range of shades. I cant really tell from the shot (dont think you really have any in the texture,) but try to keep as little direct shadowing in the texture as possible (even less than you normally would.) In most cases keep highlights but try to use a pale warm colour. I also found a hard edged brush with a low opacity works best, hand paint as much as possible and dont worry about small mistakes, they help add to the character. Finally i flattened my textures and duplicated the base, i ran the cutout filter across this and then set it's opacity between 20-50, it helps add some blocks of colour, hide any messy painting and tie together sharp changes. Finally, make use of normal maps and detail maps, specular isn't used too much compared to other games.

Yeah, blizzard seem to ahve adopted one art style and are progressing to apply this to all their games. WoW Starcraft 2 and now Diablo 3.

Yeah, that is simply awesome. I suppose it's limited to a certain range of object sizes, how well does it handle spherical objects?

Will Half-Life 2: Episode Three Be At E3? Valve Says 'No'[Blocked Image: http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/…59953a19bde.jpg]

According to E3.net and various excited internet reports, Half-Life 2: Episode Three will be making its debut appearance at E3, just a few weeks away. According to the site, it will also be joined by titles like Kid Icarus and Animal Crossing for Wii. That'd be great news, if E3.net were the official E3 site, as some reports have claimed, and not an unofficial UGO owned web site.

According to Valve's marketing director Doug Lombardi Half-Life 2: Episode Three won't be making an appearance at E3 this year, with the listing chalked up to a "misprint (or something)." We would assume that if Valve is showcasing anything at E3 this year, it will be Left 4 Dead which is planned for a November 4 release.

Thing is, it hasn't really broken the game because both teams have roughly the same proportion of other classes to pyros. It's still as much about teamwork to win as before, but the influx of pyros has just spawned some interesting new strategies. Ive seen engis selecting new places for turrets because they dotn ahve to worry about soldiers and demos as much, but instead defence from pyros.

Some weapon based data could be neat. Things like preferred sniper spots.

Those are both really impressive. As for a place to post paintings there's the Wip Texture/2D Art Gallery.

It looks very good. But i feel some of your textures, especially in the outdoor areas are a little too cartoony. I think saturating the trees a little and adding a wood detail map would help them, they stand out too much, especially against the building in the second outdoor screenshot. Also, your ground texture that blends between the grey rock and the grass, i think there's a little bit too much contrast between the two halves of the blend, a lot of Valves blends only have subtle differences.

Keep up the work though, it's refreshing to see so much green in a TF2 map .

I can see the movement vectors being kind of useful when developing something like a CTF map.

Make the most brightly colored post-apocalyptic scene you can. While still retaining the feeling of desolation and destruction.

Now the core is back i can post my comments .

Ive played it through wholly once, and really enjoyed it, i got lost a couple of times though due to scaling the side of the volcano and there beign too much vegetation blocking my view and the path wasnt clearly defined enough. But that was the most frustrating part.

Also, is there meant to be an end once you get to the extraction point. I wondered around a while with nothing happening, so i just quit in the end.
