So you have a choice of spending 30euro now or a thousand euro later.

I'd probably spend the 30 now and wait until summer of next year. Prices will drop, you should be able to make back the 30euro in the 6-7 months, tech will improve, and your current pain will be lessened. You obviously want to upgrade now, but there is no reason to and its better to wait. so put a bandaid on and get surgery later.

The merged business will be called Activision Blizzard and its chief executive will be Activision's current CEO Bobby Kotick. Vivendi will be the biggest shareholder in the group.

At least they have a creative new name for the company that just rolls of your tounge.

I'd say the texture pop ups happen a lot more often in this than I've ever seen in a UE3 game before. Doesn't bug me that much tho. It's funny, even if I had no idea I would be able to say that ME was a Bioware game from looking at the graphics. They're not bad, but they have this certain look that's just instantly recognizable I think, some strange low poly geometry here and there .

Anyway, about the game. Had some major problems with my disc when I tried to play the game on Saturday, where it wouldn't let me create a new career (And I just wanted to check out how the intro would sound if you created some other kinds of characters with other background stories D:!). Checking the disc out I could see that there were 2 scratches that somewhat follow the circular shape of the disc.

After cleaning the disc with no results, I checked the ME forums that said I should clear my HD cache, I did that with no results. Then I started taking the HD off, make new profiles and so on, nothing would work. Anyway, to cut to the end, a guy on the ME forums posted that he had luck by rubbing the scratches with a piece of cloth, and they actually came off. That worked for me as well, and now all is fine.

Point of this long boring story is that if you're having problems with unreadable discs (Which a lot of people apparently have), and have something that looks like scratches on your disc, try and rub em off with a piece of cloth

And the games great, level 24 or something, on Feros. Still exploring to great depths. Kinda bummed about the lack of planets you can actually explore. After the first bit I did on Novaria I tried to pick some random solar system and get to some planets, but after 2 solars systems I only found 1 planet I could land on, kinda sucks. Still love the game, would just have loved even more freedom!

Another great way for fixing damaged discs is with Brasso or toothpaste (Brasso is the beater of the two). My CoD3 got really deep circular scratches when a friend picked up my 360 while it was running and he told me this method.

What you do is get some brasso and a lint free cloth, like a lens cloth. Then, clean the disc with water and mild mild mild dish washer soap.

Rub the disc with a little brasso on the cloth in circular motions coming from the inside out. You do this for quite a while. Then rinse the disc with water until all the brasso is gone and let it air dry.

What this does is polish the thin coating that sits on top of the data layer of the disc. The scratch is in the coating and makes the laser bounce around so if you remove a few microscopic layers of it then the disc is flatter.

I've fixed some horrible scratched discs this way.

For light scratches you can also spit on the disc and rub it to fill the scratch.

It isn't ground breaking, iand if I had to I wouldn't pick it over Bioshock (which you should alrady have!)

But it's ALOT of fun, and the concept is awesome.

The front part looks similar to the one in Blue Shift's HD pack, but otherwise it's completely different!

I've been following subvertus for a while, I have a feeling it will be one of the few fun HL2 SP mods.

I don't listen to reviewers really, it's entirely upto you at the end of the day whether the game is good or not, critics aren't always right. Congrats on finishing it anyway Mazzle~

Exactly how I think. I'm going to pick this one up at any rate, I think the concept is really good, and appeals to me alot.

Go XSI - stable, easy and you do everything by hand. I can't cope with either Max or Maya while 30 Minutes of XSI Vid-Tut told me most of what I have to know now for game modelling (just props of course, no player modelling)

For me, using XSI is like thinking. The tools and controls feel very natural and smooth. You want to move the camera? Move your mouse. You want to add a polygon? Click twice. It's all very intuitive., very organized, and very steamlined With 3DsMax I have to fight it to do even simple things like, I dunno, deselecting. It's like the difference between a PC and a Mac. You either do what you want to do, or you do what IT wants you to do.

I haven't used Maya in a very very very long time and it was only briefly so can't comment there.

    my opinion
