Is that actually based on the Fables comicbook series or just very closely related? The hero looks straight out of that, but that's the only thing I recognize from the trailer.

EDIT: My bad, just noticed they explicitely say that it is based off of it in the trailer. I need more sleep

Clicking on a preview shot to just see the same sized image makes me sad. If I'm going to click on a preview, it's cause I want to see it in higher res!

My brain can't figure out what direction the central and right characters are facing. Are they looking at me or away?

My advice: spend less time showing and more time doing! This looks like very early stages still (or am I confused and you actually have it all playable and stuff?) and you should be using the time to develop and iterate, not to update a webpage with WIP comparison shots. Tweaking colors can come later, when it's all working. Don't run before you walk, at least that's what I'd tell you if you asked

By the way, I'm curious about the amount of crap you had to go through to get it released: do you need to go through certification processes, getting it rated, etc. before you can get it on Steam or does Greenlight basically let you bypass all that? Do you need to set up an official company?

I am very much in the mindset of working on an indie game in the near future, but those are questions I've never managed to get answers to. Basically, how much of a pain is it to get it out there once you're confident it's good enough?

Thanks, and congrats on the moneys and fame and all that!

Not sure if the cloth entities are part of the SDK yet, but if so, they should be fairly easy to setup:

    - Subdivide the mesh enough that it can move naturally

    - Vertex painting (black = no movement, white = full movement) on the object before export

    - Set wind/random wind values on the object and other air resistances, etc.

Check under Physics/Cloth in entities I think. If it's not there, well good luck doing it with constraints/joints :/

Same situation, I'm not so much a night owl as my son seems to be, it's hard to put him to bed early, and I wake up every day quite early to get to work, so my nights are short. The little bugger goes on sleeping till noon and doing his 12hrs nights while I'll be happy if I sleep more than 7hrs.

Worst part is, even on weekends, because of the habit of rising early to get to work, I'm also up on my own at 7-8am.

I'm also subject to some stress which doesn't help me sleep in in the mornings, and like some of you guys already mentioned, I'm always feeling like I've got very little free time nowadays so sleeping gets in the way of my personal growth and of being a creative person (because work doesn't let me be that often) so I'm tempted to postpone sleep as much as I can.

All in all, I'm accumulating fatigue these days, and never did quite get some proper rest since my son was born (although nowadays it's not really because of him anymore, he doesn't wake up at night at all), and a single bad night (party in the neighbourood, super hot weather, etc.) can mean I feel like shit for a few days, rubbing my eyes all the time and being irritable etc.

Not very happy about that, but not very happy about doing nothing but taking care of my son/wife/home either, so I'm trying to spin all those plates at once, and surviving with 6-7h sleep/night.

Now that we're going to work on Sundays to finish our game, I realize how much I gained from the 2-days break of weekends. I find that since I started doing that, I'm even more tired and not ever really rested and due to that I get easily interrupted at work, start day-dreaming on the job, etc. which makes me question the actual benefits of doing so, if I'm then wasting half of my afternoon not managing to focus or creating errors in my scripts etc.

Thanks, yes it's very interesting to have a Steam insider around and getting some figures/info about that. I'd bet we have many people wishing they could work on an indie game at one point or another, so thanks for sharing!

Would that be the famous In-House engine?

There's no best for games anything. Depends on engine, personal preference, platform, type of game, etc. Stop asking that type of stuff and grab a game engine by the balls and learn from the how to script for it from doc/tutos/videos. Don't go learning a scripting language just because in theory it's the best, and learn by using that damn scripting language to build something in an engine of your choice.

    DO IT!

Looking great, but I'm a bit confused about the story of the place. If it's a warehouse to store those bots (since you mention adding one under cloth, I'd assume you mean it's stored in a corner somewhere and covered with some protective cloth), then why does that one look like it's fallen from the sky and broke the concrete ground, or burst through the wall on the side flying? Dunno if you went as far as imagining the purpose of the place or if it's just about look & feel, but that's important too IMO

The prices seem reasonable to me. I've had top-end PCs but always gotten much better value out of my consoles because they simply have more great games. The amount of play that I've gotten out of my PS3 alone is astonishing, easily worth the few hundred quid it cost.

It's a bit like phones. Sure you can go buy a Windows Phone which provides more features for less money, but how useful is it when you can only get like a third of the best apps available on iPhone and Android?

Of course not everyone is that into console games and the PC has more games they're interested in. For me, my main gaming joys of the past generation have been those games that were exclusive to or best on consoles.

Well, I guess we're pretty different about those matters: I still have an old Nokia model from 10 years ago. I enjoy consoles, don't get me wrong, just not enough to justify putting 400 euros in one, just as with my phone. If games themselves were better priced I might be tempted, but 60-70 euros on top for a new release + price of the console = thanks but thanks, that's too expensive for something I'm not even certain I'll enjoy.

Those prices are too much in my opinion, both for PS4 and Xbox. The main reason why I don't have a PS3 is that the retail price, even for the slim versions etc is still too high to pay upfront for something you also need to buy games for anyways. If I have to spend 500 euros for a console + a game or two, I'll buy myself a laptop or PC or new TV or whatever instead. Consoles are a device I connect to already expensive appliances, if the console itself costs more than the sum of all of those appliances, something is wrong IMO. That's why I only own the Wii and Xbox 360, the pricing is decent on those.

Id be more excited if it wasn't for Taylor's damning reports of XBLA development on 360...

And for the fact that the devkits will probably still cost thousands of dollars and it'll be the only way to develop for it? I mean, maybe it's been announced somewhere that it's not the case, but I'm dubious about that.

EDIT: My bad, read the article through to the end, awesome if they can allow any console to be a devkit!

Would recommend Mark of the Ninja, took me 2 lunch breaks to really get into it as I was a bit concerned it was getting repetitive fast, but proved to be a great game overall, one of the few I actually started a second playthrough right after finishing the first one.

Make it multiplayer: at the end of the match, the team with the cleanest base wins, and you can pick up your gibs and go spread them all in the other team's base to screw them over. Also, if you throw viscera at/hit people with your bloody broom, they can't get blood on their screen until someone cleans their visor for them. Turn it into blood stain wars. Also if someone falls off a tall ledge, he explodes and spreads blood everywhere, so you can push other people off to try and mess up their base.

I'm getting a bit sick of my mission in games being to save AMERICAAAA. What's it done to be worth saving anyways

Luckily, most game stories let you lose track of why you're even doing things very quickly, so I don't have to care.

For some reason, that trailer looks slightly less impressive than Conviction is in my mind. Like, graphically at least. I dunno, just Fisher's face seems odd. I'm sure it'll be pretty cool though, I loved the way they went with Conviction.

Ability to play games while they download (wat the fak)

I remember this was supposed to be the case for Steam games when Steam was launched, I even believe they gave it a go with HL2 (it was supposed to load levels one after the other so you could be playing the 1st level while hte others loaded). Nice idea, not so easy to do for every game when most of the assets are shared and all. Might happen with some of the exclusive titles or something but I doubt all PS4 games will work like that.

I tried to like LoS but nothing clicked for me. The God of War-like formula (arena-based combat + spinny long-range weapons + enemies that take 20 hits to weaken + long tedious QTE executions) does little for me, the level design was a bit frustrating if you tried to look for secrets (lots of backtracking to try the other path after one way drops etc.), story didn't draw me in at all and main characters who seem to think it's cool to not draw any emotions and speak in monotonous voices, etc. The game seemed polished and was decent, but it just never got to me. I'll skip that one.
