Have you tried increasing the lightmap resolution on the terrain?

Got a new camera recently, so naturally I've been taking photos of stuff.

Look, photographs:

The black areas on the meshes look like lightmapping errors to me. Like the UV's arent packed well into the UV space and are outside slightly.
-
Yes, you can use your standard UV layout for lightmaps as long as none of it overlaps, else you will get errors in the results.
There's a simple tutorial on Hourences site here: http://book.hourences.com/tutorialsue3lightmap.htm
-
There's no problem with doing it that way. You MIGHT get light leaks under the edges where meshes meet, but I don't think its common enough to worry about. Just make sure everything is aligned correctly and the lighmap uv layout is neat.
Looks nice so far.

We have released our second HOLP map pack for Unreal Tournament 3.
HOLP (Hardcore Oldskool Low Poly)
[Blocked Image: http://holp.pathnode.com/img/HOLP_Poster.jpg]
# 9 Levels in total, 4 CTF and 5 DM levels.
# The focus is on great gameplay.
# Hardcore oldskool (think UT1) levels with minimum clutter, maximum gameplay, and somewhat decent visuals.
# Nearly all contributing level designers are professionally active within the games industry and all of them are European.
# Involved were Barballs, h0ok, Sjosz, HazelH, Slainchild, XYZ8000, Mclogenog, EvilMrFrank and Ignotium.
# Great perfomance.
# Wide range of themes and colors.
# No or limited bloom, depth of field, motion blur, normal maps, and so on.
Mirrors (more as they become available):

This pack IS NOT meant to look awesome, nor to rival the graphics found in the retail UT3 levels. These levels are meant to provide pure gameplay, not to look great. We hope that our levels will bump up the popularity of the classic gamemodes DM and CTF, and get some clan play going again.

Think they already revealed that its a completely new studio, and they're using the latest Tomb Raider engine.
-
I'll uh.. "get" it.

Never been really interested in it. Will probably turn out like The Sims and get pointless once you've done everything once or twice.
-
Shameless bump tiem!
Got into the final of the Make Something Unreal Contest phase 1: http://www.beyondunreal.com/view_story.php?id=12122

GamesTm magazine gave it a 9/10...

Looks like a fun kids bouncy castle.

Quote from Erratic
Popularized/introduced 2 weapon carry limit and regenerating health, both innovations have changed the fundamentals of games since and have been cribbed extensively since Halo was released. Vehicle integration was perfect, vehicle physics was beyond anything else at the time and vehicle controls are still the best of any action game, period. Visual design is original and still kicks the shit out of most everything; simple broad strokes with no problem using bright colour wherever it sees fit (everywhere). Huge environments with self-preserving enemy AI that make every encounter unique from the last. Music is basically instant nostalgia.
All this, and it was still 2001.
To say you don't like the game is perfectly fine, to deny it's a landmark in games is a whole other situation that will be met with swift resistance from myself.

And I don't even know where to go with that Timesplitters comparison, that shit's throwing me off :megaman: I like Goldeneye as much as anyone, but...shit.
I agree with most of that, a lot of people liked it. I've only played the first game on PC. However I don't see how the visual side of things is (or was) original at all, always seemed really bland and generic, the environments were really basic too. Halo3 does look better architecture wise, but still most of it looks like fields and hills with random blocks of concrete dropped in along with some blue lights.

Made this real quick:

You put the glowing thing in the wall thing, and a light turns on.

I wonder how possible this would be with UT3 without modding.

edit: or is a bit of modding allowed?
edit2: even though i know nothing about modding.
