i had the feeling of paranoia as well, especially towards the end when you heard some associate was coming for you and were outside the test area. i made sure to seal off all my portals once i got through some blocked spaces just to make sure i wasnt followed.
pretty crazy what a game can do to you

not to put a crook on the table, but circumcision has always been a jewish thing, though i reckon the removal of the clitoris from the women is actually an islamic practice.

afaik adam already has an account here, and have posted the first ones, that's why I though it was strange that some "random" guy posted it.
yeah i had somewhat the same feeling about this, and, having seen adam a on different fora, i would reckon he'd go by the handle 'adam foster'.
nevertheless, it is an excellent story and i'd even go so far as to call it episode 2.5

this leaves the questions: who is cargo cult and why post someone else's work without distancing yourself the least from it?

same here, we're mappers after all, I believe we all do it, evaluate other people's work.
it'd be a shame not to. usually i judge everything out from a game design perspective save gameplay/flow itself. plus, knowing how others did things really helps when you're sitting in the same situation later on

looks pretty good from the shots, although it has that generic hl2 style about it. not saying it's bad per se, but it's definitely been overused. maybe not so much in the css scene, so i guess it doesnt hurt as much as if it were in hl2dm

i dont get it... why enforce a rule then months later send out a tool that cancels it out?

can you give some background about this thing because it is frankly scaring the shit out of me

reading the some of the last posts, i just realized how hard it must have been to create a game/episode that offers almost nothing new and still manages to put up high scores even in game design circles.
looking at it from that perspective, i think they've done an awesome job. and while it's true that the convergence of hl2 and portal might have upped their odds a bit, i'd still say that this is by far a superior game to most stand-alone titles released, even with what little they had. so it's only roughly 10 hours of gameplay with portal and episode 2 combined, plus a multiplayer part? isn't that just about what one can expect for a regular game, give or take some hours/features?
instead of proposing the near impossible and very unlikely challenge of you outscoring valve given the same amount of resources and time, i'd instead urge you to look at a game from different perspective and see if you can see my point.
note: this post should not cause offense to anyone, neither personally or as a group.

i thought the ending was brutal, i literally sat there just thinking, "omg it's just not gonna do that, it's just NOT gonna do that *BAM* i cant believe it just did that."

i really think that there will be a sort of merging story with portal 2/ep3, i reckon both protagonists are gonna meet; maybe not directly, maybe just get a glimpse of each other (both standing in awe for a second, then realizing they're still competitors), but something along the lines of that.
*portal spoiler?*
i am curious of this new protagonist though, with the backstory and all. my current theory is something based on that she is/was a prisoner (orange suit) transferred/bought by aperture science for testing. as for aperture science itself, well, we get that story when completing it. guess black mesa wasn't the only one with accidents...
