i took a glimpse at what's happening over at NMA... and damn. i view those people the same way i view racists: too stuck inside their little frame to see that the outside could in fact be better. in a related analogy, if these people were inside a vault, they'd never exit it in fear of trying something new and losing their traditional ways.

god rays can only exist if sunlight shines through something, like clouds in this case =). And yes they are "faked" (like in pretty much every game that's not crysis). Its basically juts a plane with an additive texture on it, which works pretty well even from other angles =).I'll try to do some more work on the fog and paint a new sky =).

man if only i was half as productive as you. i envy how you put so much effort and passion into this one scene to make it look flawless. i'm looking forward to see how a real game looks with the things you have implemented.

fucking brilliant thing with the cake, klein. i applaud you!

also, twiz: remember the kane&lynch scandal last year? i'd say there's a chance that the review world is corrupt.

i think it's about as good as it gets, however i'm too sure about the god rays... i mean the sky looks cloudy, so i dont think it really fits. smoke looks sweet, and you should add some under the bridge so the transition to the fog looks more complete. or do something else about the transition, i dont know, think of something ;p

in the bar i work in, we have an arcade machine with just about 20 different arcade titles from that time, including golden axe and final fight (mayor haggar is the fucking shit). we relive nostalgia every friday night. i still prefer games where good skill and timing can beat the opponent though (see: puzzle fighter). coop is overrated.

a bit off topic, what do you hardcore fallout guys think about fallout tactics?

having played the game myself, i'd consider it the third fallout as it were, even with its missing rpg elements.

the first shot is precisely how i pictured it in my mind. the sky and fog as dangerous elements are a dead giveaway that something went wrong there-- or just wasn't right in the first place.

as for the second, it looks as if the place was a would-be industrial complex with a little bit too much emptiness on the walls, but then i am assuming that is the main theme as far as "terraforming gone wrong" goes. otherwise i think you captured the mood perfectly for desolate and abandoned.

for the first shot, i think it'd look better if you went a bit closer to the rail, so that there isn't too much of it in the foreground.

source was also a "new" engine even though it was built on fragments from the goldsource engine, which in turn was built on the (was it 1 or 2) quake engine.

not only is that article brilliant, the whole site is! first time i've actually seen comments that are WORTH READING in the sense that you can actually learn to see things from another perspective. it might just be me with my interest in psychology and how it works in games, but i think that developers owe themselves to look inside a game from a psychological perspective; in this case how players immerse themselves in the world of fallout.

so maybe i used the wrong word and said few instead of some other relative quantital expression. well sorry for insulting you by using the incorrect syntax. i didn't base anything on that video as much as i was just reminded what happened when i was in california, and i didn't mention anything outside of the us since there is no relevance to mention that there are racists, bigots and so on outside the US (because they can't vote inside the US).

i speak from what i've seen when i was in the US, people preaching on the street like religious propaganda in the MOST LIBERAL state in the us. i saw that there are large network stations broadcasting christian television an hour to half an hour before prime time. i had a more lax view on the US before i went there because i had never seen what i saw there before. don't you ever try to deny that there are people over there who are fanatical christians on par with any muslims in the middle east, and that you actually have a few states that will never change from the republican flag to the democratic one purely out of christian belief. if those qualities make you proud to be an american as well, i beg to differ.

i wasn't initially going into this, but you keep slandering what i said and misconstruing it, so here it is. i understand that you're proud of those people who are doing their good work to get people to vote and everything, i just don't want you to forget that america is broader than just your state, and to be proud of being american also constitutes that you are proud of those who are acting politically strictly on religious bias. i was actually defending those same people that you were proud of in my first statement, much like i was defending every other american who took steps away from this conservative line of thinking. however it does seem that you just want to start a brawl here over something as irrelevant as syntax.

what annoys me even more than this is that these discussions will tend to get the thread locked because they usually end up derogatory or flaming towards one or more people. so in order to at least have SOME civil behaviour here, i am refusing to post in this thread after this post. if you have any problems with me posting this, feel free to pm me.

same. i was thinking that he should release a show dvd with these, but then again that probably wouldn't sell too well when the show's free on the internets. clear sky is easily one of the best laughs and spot on as well.
