I find the Mako exploration to be rather tedious to be honest. Bioware and Bethesda always do this stuff: Run across a (usually) height-mapped generated landscape for 20 minutes, enter a dungeon made of prefab parts you’ve seen a hundred times before, do 10 seconds of fighting or get your lockpick value tested, receive a quest log update and leave. Or, alternatively, you can run around aimlessly hoping something of interest pops up on the map so you can mark off one of the 80 pieces of special rock. I admit, some of these are well written but it’s hard to justify things like the Moon mission (where you clear 3 copies of the same station out in sequence) when the main story is so rich. You just know there was a big white board with a list of how many extra hours, planets and quests they needed, just in case they got called *gasp* linear.

i remember this as well. my guess would be that bioware wanted to created randomly generated 'dungeons' for the different side missions, but then i have no idea whether or not they at any given point change. another thing could be performance, but then the entire game is pretty much stripped for detail except for some large props. if god of war 1 and 2 could have more detail, why can't this game?

i'm not really sure why they want to go back to aperture science with portal 2. it doesn't seem like a step forward. although i'm looking forward to it, i can't help my frustration for it not being outside of the labs...

also, what happened to entwining of portal's story into the half-life universe? apart from that borealis ship, has there been anything else suggesting a connection so far?

I always assumed it was called the orange box because that was their apparent level design process with orange boxes. Blue box sounds like severe vaginitis.

it would make sense to call it the blue box, since you'd need an entry and exit portal...

n900 uses maemo. honestly though, i think it rivals android. the only difference being that it is treated as a regular OS and not a mobile OS.

maemo is pretty good, but i'm waiting to see whether i can make it dual boot with android..

like i said before, the outcome of this case will definitely have consequences for activision; and rightfully so. with such greed, there's no place for them in the games industry.

i doubt that. it seems like a conspicuous complot to remove whatever lead there has been at IW in order to let the rest of the plan work out. in the same way the don of a mafia would know and "green light" an assassination, the CEO would know what, exactly, would happen. it is not a known custom to send security in to remove a head of a division.

dlc in the definition stated nowadays interests me very little. usually i would think the content is simply too small to offer any worthwhile quality. however, i do enjoy major expansions to a game; albeit this may have been influenced by the earlier gaming days where expansions were more common than sequels. since dlc does not interest me per se, i will not answer those questions. expansions some 6-9 months after release of a game will definitely spark new interest; however this is also dependant on the quality of the game the expansion is for.

It's also silly to blame him for everything Activision does, just like people blame Gabe Newell whenever they're not happy with Valve. They don't take all the decisions, that's why they have delegated responsibilities...

ultimately a green light is necessary from the higher ups in order to proceed with actions such as these. while he may act in the best interest of shareholders, he is still wholly responsible for whatever actions he takes in accordance with any business strategy or other will of the shareholders. shareholders just want to make more money; they don't care how. the CEO decides the how.
