Yeah I'd say the combat feels great, myself — so long as you can aim. A single headshot will take the majority of enemies down, and even those wearing heavy-duty helmets will go down fast if you repeatedly hit their head. Then of course there's the insta-kill stealth moves which I tried to use as often as possible rather than playing it like a straight action game.I love how you can play Uncharted 2 like Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid. If you choose the action route you get a fuckload of reinforcements to deal with, whereas if you go stealthy you still take ages due to all the sneaking and avoiding enemy eyes but there're much less of them and it feels much more precise. I hope they make the stealth side even better in Uncharted 3; it'd be a huge improvement if enemies eventually stopped looking for you and the reinforcements pissed off IMO.
it's funny, i had a class about this, and how important it is for a game to present multiple choices for different people. the spectrum from stealth to action is probably the best example of this. i think gears of war or halo or killzone would be heralded as much greater games if you while playing them could choose which route you wished to go.

i never think of twin peaks when i think lynch... it's always mulholland drive, which was the first of his films i saw.

Alan Wake's filled with Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet references, even if stylistically it doesn't go too far out of its way to try Lynch's style. Really, I don't think Lynch's style and pacing would work too well in a videogame anyway. Try to imagine Twin Peaks being turned into a videogame. It'd be a really repetitive railroaded adventure game with little player agency, because without the carefully controlled direction it wouldn't be identifiable to the style of a particular director. Alan Wake's Lynch-esque in the cutscenes and dialog, while retreating to survival horror between those parts, and I think that's about as much as you can hope for. That is, outside Pathologic.
just because it has references doesn't mean it actually contains some of the lynch formula. i could make a game with transformers reference, it doesn't mean i'm copying the movie.
anyway, i'm almost sure that an open world sort of thing, or perhaps semi open world (like bioshock) style game would be possible with a lynch-ish style. you'd have to make the narrative more fluid, but a man like lynch would definitely be able to think of something.

the point behind the reaper's doing shit every 50 million years or however much it was, was that they'd absorb all the technology that has been made. i'm guessing they have 1 reaper for every species they've wiped out.

Alan Wake seems like an obvious choice. Pathologic would be a less obvious one.
alan wake doesn't seem very lynch-ish to me, it's more of a stephen king novel, or at best a dennis lehane novel (guy wrote made shutter island and mystic river). with lynch, you need to have much more subtlety and symbolic material. alan wake in this way is too literal.
take a look at this:
this is from lost highway, where the fred (protagonist) is talking to some figure while the party is blazing around him. this is not to be taken literally, and there are many interpretations giving off that this is actually going on inside of fred's mind. alan wake doesn't have this shit going for it at all; you're basically comparing bestseller horror to subtle psychological thriller work here. another thing is the setting; with lynch's movies, there's always a mood that shines on the world like a filter. for mulholland drive, part of the theme was the music:External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. it was alright, but it kinda diminishes in epicness compared to how epic mass effect 2's ending was. i think it may have had something to do with the opening scene being london and all, and not another city on another planet...
also, why do people keep linking gametrailers bullshit? i hate that verification shit all to squeeze some extra pixels into that HD view. fucking stop it already, use youtube. mazy and that chrome guy explained how easy it can be done.

You mean elbow?
Wherever his arm is broken in the first place, it's just wrong all the way. Until now I don't see too much in these pictures anyway. Need gameplay videos!
think it's gonna be a pretty standard formula uncharted gameplay tbh, but maybe theyll add some more awesome cinematic shit, like

a role playing game by and large should contain role playing. it doesn't require level ups or experience, it basically and only requires role playing. of course this raises the question whether not all games are role playing games

nevertheless, what we associate with rpgs (at least western ones) is an open or semi open world, littered with choices for the player to take. all of these choices have consequences, and these consequences shape the linearity of the game. in jrpgs, it seems the game experience is more sequential rather than open, which would not really make them rpgs in the sense of association, but rather a completely different genre of games - which again, would make a comparison useless.

i was running from cover to cover until i found some bushes that it apparently couldn't see me through. i then waited for a good long while until i could be sure it didn't detect me, then stealthed/sprinted to safety
