It would actually be pretty cool if games like these would just incorporate the consequences of viral outbreaks from movies etc. like a post apocalyptic sim city... See tiny people try to fight off zombies on rooftops of half destroyed buildings, people trying to escape are dying etc.
Then after years, some infrastructure is slowly rebuilt, people reuse buildings as shanties and new societies emerge...
"How to think like a politician"
The collider bug was what I was referring to as being in the first game.
It's great, but there's a few kinks and bugs I'd of wish they would have fixed, some of which were also present in the first game. I can't get past the 15th scene because there's a collider in the way of the exit even when everyone's dead. I also had some lesser bugs happen, like npcs getting stuck in doors and this weird aim bug that caused me to not be able to rotate my character for like half a scene.
The gameplay and story are solid though, here's to hoping they'll fix these issues soon.
Music remake so good
Quote from AlexMExactly what I was thinking. Total bullshit they have to pay for EA's mistakes.
That shit needs to be on GOG. Such a good game!
It sort of makes me sad, but Maxis couldn't go back to what it was after Will Wright left, imo. I wish they would've kept doing "software toy" type stuff, instead of being another no risk sequel company.
There's a game called Yoot tower which is the spiritual successor. I recall someone telling me it's made by the same guy who designed simtower.
I looked it up, looks like a true successor. Too bad neither game is available outside of Dosbox. I wouldn't mind a remake.
Pampers doing all the right research
Quote from 2d-christhis makes me sad, but I suppose that sim city disaster at launch was one of the nails in the coffin, I want more games like sim city, just done right
There might still be a chance that those same people will go on to create their own studio an do a SimCity done right. I don't think an entire genre like this will just die out if people still want to play it (and apparently they do).
Anyway, RIP in peace. I'll always remember playing SimTower way back when.
I'm a bit cautious about what Unity promises as they have been prone to delay their features and bug fixes in the past. The mere fact that UE4 provides source code for the engine puts it lightyears in front of Unity, as any bug or problem that may arise can be fixed (at least temporarily) but programmers on your team. On the other hand, the 5% might be too much at some point.
Either way, I'm sure Unity 5 is going to be interesting, and I'm glad that we have some proper competition between engines now. It serves to benefit us all in the end.

Raiders of the Lost Ark would have proceed the exact same way whether Indiana Jones was in it or not. He does nothing to prevent the Nazi's from getting the ark, and the Nazi's end up blowing themselves up. Not exactly a good setup for a plot.
I don't think this is the thread to to introduce your projects, but rather yourself...
sound pretty solid... although I think your first winter thing sounded more interesting with its use of instruments. but hey gustos and non disputandums etc.

Agreed, with the present day western capitalism and its bubbles (they are coming), housing is as much a liability as it is a profit. Renting may not give you anything, but you'll never be stuck with trying to sell a rented apartment etc.
It's much easier to just accept that rent money is just something you spend without getting any financial gain and look for more stable investments instead.
Person of interest continues to be one of the best shows ever. Holy damn it's good.
