it's well thought out in one sense, but there's a number of things that make it not work: there is no or very little familiarity with the old mapcore logo; basically none of the attributes of the original logo are carried over. second, while abstractions works for a number of different things, they don't work for logos. a logo is an icon; it is made to instantly give people an impression about a brand/company/etc. abstractions will not do this easy, and will leave people confused instead.

lines work, they add focus going towards a center point. shading also works for colors. could even add different colors to the cube or make it like vans shoes, i.e. custom patterns and shit. for christmas it could be red/green/white, for summer it could be a beach etc.

the collector's edition isn't really worth it... i mean, you get the art book which may be good, but whatare you supposed to do with that figurine?
also i don't think you can get it much cheaper than that (or well, maybe you can find some place offering it for 10 eur less, but in general it won't move much). keep in mind this will be very limited supply, as the CE is only released in europe.
