Maybe tweak the colour of the bars to give a bit of contrast with the blue.
But hey, this is old stuff, right?

That looks awesome penE!
That would look nice, but I do stylised textures all day at work so this is just a chance for me to hone my skills in other aspects. The concept art is merely inspiration for an environment, I'm not trying to re-create it 100%.
I'll try and blow some minds anyway :science:
What do you mean Warby? Do remember that a lot of it is still blockout.
Yeah I'll do that then, Dark ![]()
Been working on some foliage today, it's just a very basic texture done in Photoshop for the grass, need to detail it up. Also re-did the beach to allow me some more variation, and made another smaller palm tree. I want to add loads more stuff with the vegetation tool (washed up seaweed, palm fronds, rocks etc), then go back to the beach bar itself.

Hell yeah man! I'm going to focus on making some vegetation to fill out the scene a bit more, I don't fancy doing prop blockouts right now!
I love Cryengine, it's amazing

Not really had much chance to work on it these past few days. I'll have some more shots later this week ![]()
Apparently all of the seniors from Starbreeze went over to Machine Games a while back!
I'm not sure whether to update this thread every couple of nights, or whether to just wait for big updates... In a way it's nice to see progress, but then it's kinda annoying to see this thread pop up all the time and people will stop reading haha. What do you guys think? ![]()
Here's a few more blocked out assets. Gonna start making some rocks and more vegetation when I learn a bit more about foliage etc in Cryengine. I want to detail the area around here, but I don't think the Forest assets will be useful for this. What do you Crytek people think? I've not really looked into it too much yet.

Quote from ThrikHaha, yeah I mean don't get me wrong my girlfriend was a great catch in many ways — she enjoyed spending a whole weekend on God of War or Uncharted just as much as me and we clicked in most ways, but of course 'most' isn't enough for a relationship to last beyond the two years or so it did. I'm not jaded about the whole relationship thing in the slightest, and I believe that when you do find somebody who you just fit together with perfectly it'll enrich your life in every single way. Finding the right person at the right time is something everyone should look forward to!With that said, when good, long relationships do go downhill it's incredibly draining and almost liberating when you're faced with being single again. I'm enjoying that high for now and feel no pressure whatsoever to 'find the one' as life is good, but I'm sure I'll be wanting someone to cosy up to (for more than one night) before long.
You've got a good attitude towards it dude, nice one. Enjoy it while it lasts ![]()

That's still possible if you pick the right one.
If you pick a bitch that doesnt understand you, your passions, or your work then why would you even be with her.
QFT.
The amount of times my girlfriend put up with me doing 3D all day in my dressing gown whilst at uni......... Always behind me, always giving me support! She's a great catch ![]()
Quote from ThrikFinished things with my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago so me and my single comrades are going to the pub for quiz night.
FINISH HER!
I'm spending my night doing 3D and playing League of Legends. Emma is in London so I won't be seeing her.
Not that I'm more bothered than any other day, Valentine's day is shit anyway,
Thanks chaps! I will get some more blockout props done tonight ![]()
That Destructoid review really pisses me off. Guy doesn't know what he's going on about.
NEEDS MOAR ACTION PLS
Wow, looks cool! I love the amount of effort that has gone into this.
Thanks guys!
So I need to sort out the wood texture. It was kinda thrown together last minute, but I will make it look nicer. I think I am going to do what HP suggested though, and block out loads of assets.
Here's a moped blockout I did tonight:

Edit - And a final screengrab with a few tweaks.

HP, is there a way to quickly grab screenshots from the editor, without jumping in-game? Print screen is easy, but you get the stats in the top right.
Quote":23lan9nr]Holy shit that is an absolutely amazing concept!
Good luck with the scene man! Lemme know if you want feedback on anything specific!
So far, really liking it, (Although the building is nowhere near the quality of the props yet) but I recommend you make placeholder geometry for your scene, give them a solid color and fill the scene with them, instead of finishing a prop and putting it there, then finishing another one, and so on. That way it will give you a better sense of not only scale, but composition, and color. it's very weird to have finished props in the middle of a empty environment.
Get cracking homes, I demand you finish this!
Totally agree there HP. It's quite overwhelming having so much to do with so little time, but doing a detailed blockout would be very handy.
Hey guys!
Just thought I'd make a thread for a scene I'm working on. I'll update this regularly to show progress and to show you guys what I'm working on.
It's a scene based on this really nice piece of concept art by Tuomas Korpi. I'm not sure exactly what the concept was intended for, but I love it ![]()
Please note however, this concept is merely inspiration, and I'm not intending to re-create it exactly. It just spurred me on to create a similar environment!

I am also learning Cryengine whilst making this scene, so it's going to be a long process. My ultimate aim with this project is to properly learn Cryengine, and so far I'm loving it. It's such a powerful engine!
I wanted to just dive in and learn Cryengine and put down a few props I made, but I think I need to take a step back and plan the island out a bit. I'll hopefully detail a lot of this island and make it a really immersive, exploration-type environment that you guys can play.
Here are a few shots of what I have so far.

And a few props I've made so far:

And I started making a bit of foliage too. Still very WIP! Need to explore the CE2 foliage a bit more ![]()
I'll hopefully have regular updates here for you guys, but it is kinda hard to find the time to work after working 9-5.30!
Any crits or suggestions, fire away!
I wish my hair would flash intermittently like that robot's ![]()
