It's probably the best use of Source I've seen, sometimes doesn't even look like Source!

Quote from SkjalgDisplay More
Elders scrolls opening, as envisioned by mapcore.
Fade from black.
You're in the wilderness. Surrounded by high grass and trees.
White text fades in at the center of the screen, it reads:
Pick a direction and fuck off.
you click a button and it fades out.
lol not that extreme. Watch some vids of the start of ESO, it's ridiculous.

Haha what the fuck, where do you get your hair cut?!
Yeah I think the issue is that Skyrim and the other Elder Scrolls are primarily singleplayer games, and they are fairly lonely experiences. Half of the fun is going off and exploring by yourself, you feel a bit more like an explorer charting new lands and exploring mysterious places.. But in an MMO you're just another person doing the exact same thing as everybody else on the server, which kinda takes away from the appeal of Elder Scrolls for me.
The game itself felt more like Lord of the Rings Online than WoW, to me anyway. But at least LotR had the nostalgia aspect, and you could run around familiar locations. In ESO, you can't even go to any places from the other games. Bit of a weird choice.
If I had it my way, I'd remove the first, compulsory dungeon. You start out in a dungeon and have to escape, but my sound was broken so I didn't have a clue what the fuck was going on. Apparently there was a John Cleese cameo, but without sound I didn't even hear it.. What a waste of money! But anyway, I'd have started the player out in the wilderness somewhere, and made the introduction less 'epic', and more about immersing the player in the world and creating a sense of isolation (fuck, after working on Alien: Isolation I'm so conscious about using that word hah). Imagine having to go out, trekking across the wilderness, making campfires etc, exploring strange places. That sounds so much more exciting than 'go out and kill 5 bears for me!', and those sorta quests.

I played this during beta and it was pretty generic and dull.

Been playing this a lot, and it's fucking awesome. Great job guys.

Links arent working for me!

Exporting to Source is fucking well easy when you use Wallworm's tools. Piece of cake.
Kinda.

Looks ace dude, good job.
My only crit is that some of the houses look very, very dark when in shadow. That may cause gameplay concerns as player models may not be very visible. It might just be a contrast thing, in your post processing/colour grading. Might be worth looking at!

Fuckin hell, Marks woke up on the wrong side of the bed today!

-
There's a bit on the powerpoint presentation that says 'improved GUI' or something like that, and automated compiling of models. FUCK YEAH!
-
Possibly, but the lighting looks a lot richer. I wonder if it's physically based, I'd imagine Valve would go more down that route.
-
I don't know how mind blowing people expect it to be in this day and age? Graphics have sorta peaked, to a certain extent. It's certainly not as wowing as the first Source reveal, but it's still exciting to see that level of detail in Source.
-
Cool dude, you can definitely see a progression throughout those images! Keep up the hard work.

AH MAHHHHHH GAWWWWWWWWWD
Rob Briscoe, is this what you're goign to work on?! JIZZZZZZ.
Seriously though, looks ace if it's legit. Doesn't look too much different to Source. I wonder if it's going fully dynamic lighting?

I used to love 24! I think I watched up to season 7 but got bored after that. The earlier seasons were much better! I do hope they take it back to being awesome again

-
You guys still releasing the package/map for this? Would love to see it!
-
Yeah Cache and Agency are my 2 favourites. I can't stand Seaside, but everybody always votes for it. It just feels like a HL2DM map

Hey I just get to make cool art every day, go throw a brick at the design team if that's the way you feel

I think that's a pretty terrible screenshot to be honest. Look at dem hard edges.
