Here's a little gif of a waterfall effect I've been working on for that black and white Source project I've shown. No custom props or anything, just an animated texture I put together in After Effects slapped onto a displacement.

Nothing amazing, but it gets the point across. I'd love to do some refraction in there, but I dont think the refraction shader supports transparency does it? I've already got some ideas to throw in there to supplement the whole effect.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, you guys. Keep it coming, I really really wanna try to make this as awesome as possible.

Hehe I also thought the first pic was a photo or render Pretty cool I must say. I don't think it is boring if the atmosphere is right. Just take a look at the UT2004 mod "Hollow Moon" which is also only in black and white and creates an awesome atmosphere!

Or you could just make some Characters or story relevant things, places, etc. in color. Sin City like.

Honestly, I really wanna keep it mostly black and white, though I've toyed with having some stuff in color, like the final level maybe. Or also release a color version.

I'd like to think though that if the environments themselves are interesting enough to explore/play in, then that will make up for the lack of color, not as compensation but just to balance the style.

    Oooooo Overlay or Color Correction?

Overlay. Color correction would probably give me more control, but not everyone will be running color correction and the black and white thing is sort of one of the driving concepts to the project.

Nice screenshots elecheadmatt - does it look that good in colour? ;D

    I hope so.

Here are a couple shots I'm ready to show of the first map in a small HL2 SP project I've been working on, Salvage. Going for sort of a creepy film noir look/feel.

Here's my first real release for HL2DM. It took me about 3 weeks, concept to release, has most weapons except for the RPG, and can handle about 4-8 people. It runs well on all the testers machines, and has no known issues.

I wanted to make a bit more of an exotic location than normal HL2DM maps, so I put it in a cliff edge in the arctic circle. I hope you guys like it.

    FileFront Download

I'll be moving back to school tomorrow for the most part of the day, but as soon as I'm online I'll post more download mirrors.

Oh, hey, Lunaran showed me these

Gotta say, I really like it. Love the simplicity of the design. Good lighting choices, too. Shot 3 definitely stands out, but I really like 2 and 4 as well. Only thing that sort of stands out to me is the building to the back left in shot 1. Tough to see what's going on there... maybe just a bad angle. It almost looks like the windows have windshield wipers? I'd be curious to see that up close.

    Appreciate it

Changed the windows for the observation deck area. For some reason those things never even registered as windshield wipers to me, I just overlooked it. Doh. Replaced the whole wall with something a bit better, with breakable_surf windows.

Final build just finished compiling. Hopefully I get this out before the end of the night.

Hey. Here's a few shots of a deathmatch map I'm finishing up. I'm trying to have it out the door by the end of the weekend.

Any suggestions are completely welcome. I'm still not done tweaking it.
