    -- Spoilers? --

Just completed crysis! It's an awesome game but damn it requires alot of juice from the gfx card. I bough a 8800gt just to play crysis but still that wasn't enough! It laggs so bad in dx10, had to play in dx9. Guess i didn't have to install vista after all

But the visuals are simply amazing, sometimes it feels like you are playing a movie instead of a game! The levels inside the alien "ship" were simply amazing at points.

Great game tough, will definitely have to give it another runthrough sometime when i get a new gfx X(

Going to try out the multiplayer now!

  • 3dsMax or Maya?

I don't do much modeling and i can't boast about having any skills in it either, but when i have played around some with it i found maya to be the tool that worked best for me. I have never been able to export a model to source tough, i've tried everyting! So if you are going to do source models don't go maya

I did try 3ds max in the past but i could never relly get my head around it.

I have been playing some with XSI to, not much but i like it so far. And it seams to be a very good tool for poly modeling.

Very nice game, i can only run at medium with my crap 256mb x1950xt so i decided to get a new one

Pre-Ordered a 8800GT! Costs only 2100 SEK, about ~$300 with the super low dollar value.

  • Exporting models from maya to source?

    • NormySan
    • September 24, 2007 at 1:48 AM

Ok, so i've been looking all around the web on how to do this and i can't find any working method. I've tried using the tool made by Prall but doesn't seam to work.

I tried to find any information on how to use the export tools supplied with the Source SDK but couldn't find anything.

I'm running the 8.5 version of Maya. If anybody knows how it's done i would be verry happy if you could share that information with me.

Worst case scenario i'll have to learn XSI instead, since this is what valve uses and i guess it works way better

Ok, np. I can add a little comment on every part i chose so that you know why and such. If you would like to look around at some reviews i would strongly recommend you to check out some hardware sites, these are a bunch of good sites:

I have built most of my friends computers and i've built the one i'm currently using. I put that one together pretty quick but it's good quality parts and the airflow in that case is good.

And with windows supporting many cores i can't relly say that it does it well.

Yeah you are right, it's closer than i thought

I concider quad core to be more of an "e-penis" thing. I have no proof to back this up but i do think that the majority of games coming out atm won't have support for quad core but i could be wrong.

You can get a quad for about 700 SEK extra, but the speed is a tad bit slower on each core.

Or you could go for this if you want a faster dual core.

Where do you live? I could give you some advice on what parts to get from a online computer store where you live.

DELL has good computers, but the choices they give you while configuring is crap imo.

Edit: You're from sweden? So am i if that's the case, you should buy a computer from komplett.se or datorbutiken.se and then build it yourself, they do have som packages to that are way more worth the money than the dell computers.

I would not use Vista, i would wait and upgrade to it when the dx10 games actually comes out, i've noticed a very big different in dx9 games when i changed back to XP from Vista.

Edit 2: I put together a little something from komplett, it's got almost everyhing exept the gfx card, mouse, keyboard and speakers.

Yeah, that is definitely a nice TV. I'm not sure how big it is, could be a 40" full hd (KDL-40W2000)? In Sweden you can get it for roughly $2200, (~15000SEK).
