I'm doing some webite work for a Swedish wine & alcohol company, here are a few of the pics I took today:

I only post material in early stages, nothing that represents final quality. The reason I post here on mapcore is because it holds a wide array of amateur and professional talents that give excellent input. But you're right, even if I trust this community I should be more secretive about my work.

Hehe... I don't know what to think, I haven't played it. Maybe it actually is good, thought through therapy or maybe it's a horrible way of making money on vulnerable kids.

Okay, I updated the thumbs again. I like this layout better, it allows me to fit more information in (intro, WIPs, tutorials, news or whatnot) without making it look cramped (I hope!)

You could at least be a bit more elgant, Teddy, rather than telling people that their work sucks ass. The bottom of it looks wrong (there's no sign of rooting/snow) but the rest is fine. The last screenshot looks quite cool, a nice sniping position.

Man! I'm sorry if you took me as dead serious, it was meant as a more comical remark. I know those aren't the work of Dodger, if he now was the producer I would of course not put it that way. However, it doesn't change the fact that the HL2/CSS prop trees don't look very nice

The tree props suck ass... however a really nice job over all. A few prop and texture replacements and I'd download it in an instant.

I was thinking about what I said all night when I couldn't sleep and I've gotta say I was the one with unjustified comments. One of my all time favourite games is actually BF2 and it's pretty incredible that they managed to produce a new element to the series in just one year - you rarely see that happen. And yeah, again, when thinking about it - I've never - ever - seen this kind of interior in Sweden before, so I guess they're right about that part too. I'm pretty ashamed of what I said, it's a pretty great company when you reflect upon it.

Oh man I was grumpy this morning... 5:20 in the morning before a final is evidently not a good time for posting on forums

Oh well anyways... nice going for them, and yes - the office is really something special.

Mmyeah. Also, why did they say this?

We make the greatest computer games on the market. In order to do that, we need the greatest talents within a great variety of disciplines. Interested in the gaming industry?

I don't like that kind of smug boasting.

    Edit:

    And there's even more

The best location, the best view, the best space.

Shut up about being best already.

    Again, great constructive criticism, thanks

    Realized suggestions:

    Quote

    - merge msn and mail (as it is the same) to "mail/msn: [email protected]" or something similar. people will still understand you - and if you put in 2 phone numbers state which is your mobile and which is landline or dayphone and after work or whatever

    - you quoted design in your areas of expertise. maybe define that a bit better? design is veeery extensive term Smile maybe say industrial design, webdesign, interface design.. or something like that.

    - put milkshape 3d at the end of the list or take it out. that tool can be learned in 5-10 minutes

I think I will keep the thumbs as they are and I'll maybe extend the center frame, if I get the time.

    Thanks alot!

If you watch in the top right corner you will see a "portfolio" link (instead of the previous "resume" link), maybe it's too subtle.

Thank you all VERY MUCH, this is exactly the kind of criticism I like! It was not exactly what I was having in mind though... The reason I had that position posted on the site is because of reasons that still are sensitive and so I removed it from the resume but forgot to remove it from the top of the page. Also, I'm not intending to let it circulate just yet, I just wanted a bit of feedback on the design. Please just forget about it for the moment - it feels kind of stressing because I can't remove it right at this moment. Basically I was excited about finally having the design ready for showcase but I forgot about the sensitivity of the content.

Just to get things clear: When it comes to the rest of the resume, I have tried to clean out everything not related to games in specific (which rules out quite alot - feels like "killing my babies"). The reason I kept the leveldesign.nu position is because I help arrange and plan LAN parties/sponsored competitions for developers all over the nation, but if it feels irrelevant as you say it does, I'll remove it.

Again, thanks a million guys... I like criticism that really puts me on the spot. I was pretty stupid to think that people were just going to pay attention to the design. However, I've gotten some great tips due to my mistake so I'm glad about and very thankful for that

So, about the design: I was also thinking about not just having squares, I think I can make a pretty interesting pattern with the background in mind. One for 2D art, one for the dev. process (guides basically) and one for miscallenous (music and trad. art). What do you think about that?

Yeah I should really look a bit more reliable on my resume pic, shouldn't I...

About the sizes: perhaps, I think I will if it tends to annoy 1280x920 users. Otherwise I'll keep it

    Thank you all very much

For a rough explanation of how it is done you can go two pages back and look at the bottom. For more details I hope to have a tutorial up in a couple of weeks but I can't promise, there's not much additional time on my hands right now.

Yup, this is my fourth and final attempt at a decent portfolio design: it's basically the greatest common divisor of all of the previous design's strong points.

It's designed for a 1024x768 resolution. Sorry for not being able to open any material, make sure to check again by the end of this weekend if you want to see it (and more).
